This was a team that my good friend Accelgor helped me build since we were both interested in using CM Mega Bro and saw its debut in Lycans vs Harris for SPL Week 5. We decided to roll with Ice Beam because it’s extremely useful in the current meta; most notably, it lets Slowbro beat Altaria 1v1 and prevents common switch-ins like Hydreigon/Latias/Celebi from coming in risk-free. Next up, we decided to add Krookodile since it gives us a Ground-type, Speed control, and Pursuit all in one. Pursuit is crucial when using Slowbro because picking off weakened Latias and Celebi can sometimes be a game decider on these builds. We wanted the team to have an offensive nature and needed Hydreigon counterplay at this point, so we dedicated our next two spots to that. Infernape + Togekiss pair nicely with Slowbro since both can take advantage of Hydreigon and weaken opposing Water-types that love switching into Slowbro after they find out it’s lacking Block. Last two slots were used to find a Steel-type, Stealth Rock, hazard removal, and a Flying-type resist so Moltres wasn’t an immediate forfeit. Ultimately, the best combination in our minds was Nihilego + Silvally-Steel.
Good luck, and please remember to submit your cores by Thursday.
Vincune has a great matchup vs this team, once it's got behind a substitute it will kill something really, and slowbro can't stop it because it's not rest and therefore can't win the pp war. Since silvally isn't running enough speed, it won't be able to get quick parting shots off to waste suicunes pp and switch into slowbro either, so it can't do anything to stop it, as it will get heavily chipped everytime it attempts a parting shot.
Bulky Scizor also has a great matchup and a great pairing with vincune against this team, as it freely sets up on and greatly threatens krook and togekiss, and can live a HP fire/Flamethrower from nihilego/silvally. While it will spend a lot of the game u-turning due to infernape/silvally/slowbro, it will provide massive momentum and lots of opportunities to bring vincune in on the relevant swaps, ie. on a u-turn as the enemy swaps into silvally, setting up a substitute while all it can do is parting shot giving you a free sub. I went for a SD set over a defog one as it can function as a late game sweeper if necessary, since infernape won't be able to continuously swap into scizor especially since its life orb, and same for silvally as it has no healing.
So reuni really messes w the team outside of getting flinched down by togekiss. It beats Slowbro, can’t get beaten down by Krook, etc. Aero can deal with Toge reliably as well as Nihi. Also may double back into Reuni to Cm on Slowbro.
While not entirely free due to ice beam, an electrium Latias should still be more than a match for Slowbro. It also does a fantastic job at handling Infernape and Togekiss. Meanwhile, a Krook, a Nihi without HP ice, and a Silvally-Steel are absolutely no match for Gligar. Letting Gligar easily handle the half of the team that Lati can't. These two together can cover the whole team. I hope you like the core!
Been a while since ive posted here. DD EQ Malt is a huge threat for this team, especially when it can use Ape, Krook and potentially Togekiss as set-up fodder / opportunity. You can then 2OHKO Slowbro in regular form, meaning it is forced to evolve and lose regenerator. EQ let's it remove Nihi and dent Silvally. I partnered it with Scizor which invites in Ape as a free set-up opportunity for Malt. It can proceed to always heavily pressure Silvally also trying to check it. It obvs forces Nihi + Toge out and heavily dents Slowbro with Bug Bite.
I'm on my phone so no fancy Malt ev spread. I'll also add sprites later when I have access to my pc.

+1 252 Atk Altaria-Mega Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Silvally-Steel: 304-358 (77.1 - 90.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Scizor Superpower vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Silvally-Steel: 390-460 (98.9 - 116.7%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Technician Scizor Bug Bite vs. 248 HP / 144+ Def Slowbro-Mega: 211-250 (53.6 - 63.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
After testing this team a bit on the ladder i found out that Substitute Gengar is a huge threat to this team if it sets up the sub (or clicks Focus Blast) on the Krookodile switch, it also gets 2HKO on everything bar Nihilego. I struggled a bit to choose a partner for Gengar but in the end I decided to pair it with Scarf Latias which checks Nihilego and Infernape while also improving Gengar longevity thanks to Healing Wish and Defog.
I’ll participate this round since I tested this team quite extensively
sciz was def one of the bigger issues for the team after silvally was worn down (which wasn’t terribly hard to do in practice), as was latias, specifically cm elec z. don’t think reuniclus gives the team much trouble with focus blast coverage bc slowbro always beats it 1v1). altaria can definitely be annoying if used properly, with the team relying on slowbro to check it & silvally if no eq. I’m actually surprised no one mentioned doublade since it’s extremely annoying to seitch into & can act as a really good wincon late-game if kept healthy.
not gonna write a story but tl;dr estarossa and twilight are the clear winners in my book
Hi, I started with Araq because I knew I wanted a webs team, and I followed up on that with rocks Terrakion because of how reliably it can keep hazards up vs the majority of removal bar Gligar. Scizor pressures common webs threats and floaty mons such as Lati and Maero while also being able to clean with Quick Attack versus Moltres and Rotom-H. Bisharp came thru next because of Defiant primarily, but its ability to pressure floaty/fast mons w priority was still greatly appreciated. Mega Altaria is here to help the nape/kommo matchup while also giving me more tools to break fatter builds that rely on status. Celebi also helps break fatter builds and dents steels to help sciz/malt break shit more easily.
Please get your core submissions in by Friday. Thanks for participating!
