Arceus @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Multitype
Level: 50
Tera Type: Normal / Ghost
EVs: 140 HP / 252 Atk / 108 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
- Recover / Taunt

The creator has descended to battle against its creations in Regulation J! With Dragon Dance, Arceus increases its already incredible Attack and Speed stats, allowing it to outspeed Calyrex-S. Extreme Speed deals significant damage before foes can attack, and Earthquake threatens Zacian-C and Archaludon. Recover provides healing for Arceus, while Taunt can be used instead to disrupt setup sweepers like Arceus-Fairy. Silk Scarf in tandem with Tera Normal increases the damage of Extreme Speed, allowing Arceus to OHKO Choice Scarf Kyogre at +1. Tera Ghost provides an immunity to opposing Arceus's Extreme Speed and Koraidon's Collision Course. The Speed investment allows Arceus to outspeed Choice Scarf Miraidon at +2, and the remaining EVs maximize its bulk and damage output. Arceus struggles to KO Calyrex-S before it is set up; Chien-Pao covers this weakness by threatening Calyrex-S with Sucker Punch and Crunch. Koraidon easily threatens Arceus with Collision Course, so a partner Calyrex-S can easily switch in on it and threaten Koraidon. Calyrex-S also threatens Lunala, which is difficult for Arceus to damage. Glimmora is another great partner for Arceus, setting up hazards to soften up foes for Arceus to sweep.

Couple things

- earthquake is mostly used for Zacian and Archaludon. Miraidon is KOed by +1 silk scarf extreme speed, especially w Tera normal backing it up. Archaludon is the biggest threat here bc it often runs stamina + foul play to really put Arceus in a bad spot. You also will generally want to use espeed against the bikes with the given spread here, as they are common scarfers and as such will outspeed +1 Arceus. There is a spread that outruns scarf bikes at +2 though (140 HP / 252 Atk / 108 Spe with Adamant, if you want to read more about it you can read the Arceus analysis I wrote here or contact me on discord at derpysux)

- the most common secondary Tera is actually ghost, a much more pressing issue for DD Arceus variants is actually the mirror. Since you need to invest more in speed to get use out of DD, bulkier swords dance variants can win the mirror by boosting up and nuking you. Tera ghost is a common consideration for fast and bulky ekiller variants to win the mirror.

- Arceus’ biggest threat is actually Caly-S, as it outspeeds it and can lock it into extreme speed with encore or trick it a scarf, making it completely helpless and allowing Calyrex or its teammates to use Arceus as setup fodder. Calyrex is also a great partner, however, and worth mentioning over Zacian. The aforementioned koraidon (which is still a threat to Arceus for sure, just not the biggest one) will blank its CC and be subsequently used as setup fodder via encore or the choice lock it likely has.

- Chien Pao, while being a great Arceus partner, does not actually handle the bulky Lunala sets very well. It needs to get very fortunate with crash flinches to not get burned or ruined by Tera fairy. Chien Pao can often soften teams up for an Arceus sweep though. Calyrex S again, however, beats most variants of Lunala.

- If there’s room, another partner I particularly like is actually Glimmora. It is an excellent lead and can use its hazard setting prowess to put teams on a timer and soften them up for both Arceus and its partner restricted to run through later on.

here’s an Arceus Calyrex team I built to show these ideas https://pokepast.es/1d1a5fd1299a3aab

here’s an Arceus Miraidon team that I use for most of my ladder games bc I find it more fun, but it still has the concepts I’ve talked about here https://pokepast.es/9b4e448dc77574fe
