Buggin You In The Rain.... # 3 on Smogon

I decided to give a break to my stall team which sat at # 1 for a good amount of the time the last 2 weeks. I wanted to build something a little different and take advantage of weather in a different way. I was building it for fun in the first place but as time went on it started to rack up a lot of wins in a row. I wanted the core of the team to be Scizor and Genesect. With each carrying the same fire weakness It almost made my first poke a given and build from there.

Politoed (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 8 SAtk / 244 SDef
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Hypnosis
- Perish Song

The Evs were simple I needed it to come in on fire attacks launched at my 2 bugs. Also being able to repeatedly come in and take hits help vs Tar/Ninetales in keeping my rain up through out the game. Perish Song I find helps against pokes that slowly try to stall u out or need to set up with calm mind to sweep.

Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Download
EVs: 96 Atk / 160 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- U-turn
- Bug Buzz
- Thunder
- Ice Beam

My first bug. I like genesect because both of atk stats are high add a scarf and make its hard for my opponent to know which attack im going to use. U-turn is a given to scout and let me switch into a counter. Bug buzz is a useful stab late in the game when I get the SPA boost clean up. Thunder is awesome for the extra power and possible paralysis. Ice beam is for dragons and thunderus gliscor. Theres no flamethrower since I plan to have rain up most of the game.

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Quick Attack
- Superpower

With the rain Scizor becomes even more of a beast. Being able to survive Hp fire and completely tear the remaining parts of teams. U turn is the early move of choice in games. paired with genesect I can just drive teams nuts by going back and forth with powerful u turns. Bullet Punch for late sweeping. Quick attack is for those who resist it and still does fair amount of damage.

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 208 Def / 52 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Softboiled
- Stealth Rock

good ol bliss. I needed a 2nd poke to sponge fire attacks. Being able to take SPA hits like nothing plus pass toxic and set up rocks makes bliss being awesome team mate for this team.

Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 188 Def / 76 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Fling
- Acrobatics
- Protect

With bliss taking all the special attacks I needed a counter and physical wall to take the fighting types that are going to be switching in and try to set up. The Electric immunity is just a big plus. Gliscor is a nice counter to SS teams. It comes in vs the likes of Conkeldurr and Excadrill and can take them out. Fling + toxic orb is awesome to hit their switch in. Protect is a good move to scout on other choiced pokemon like genesect. Teams have a hard time dealing with Gliscor + blissey = Glissey. Together they make it easier for gene and scizor to just come in and clean up.

Keldeo @ Leftovers
Trait: Justified
EVs: 248 SAtk / 48 SDef / 212 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Secret Sword
- Calm Mind
- Hidden Power [Ice]

So I needed a set up sweeper I been having a little trouble with Ferrothorns but after 1 calm mind thats not a problem and I can just rip through teams with a + 1 surf in the rain. Keldeo has enough Speed to beat unscarfed garchomps and HP Ice is for dragons and Grass types.

Any thoughts comments would be appreciated =)

I do have to give a special shout out to

Sharpedo (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Ice Fang
- Protect

It would absolutely tear through teams in the rain and after 2 boosts would even outspeed excadrill in the sand. Protect is godly on this monster. Just too bad he couldnt help get past ferrothorns. I suggest someone try him

Hey der dude nice team, no wonder it ranked so high. Though a few things I think you could maybe improve on.

Politoed- I think changing Ice Beam to Protect to prolong Perish Song or get another lefties boost could be a viable idea. Not like Ice Beam is there to help with Dragons or anything (Thank you Genesect.)

Scizor- As good as Scizor is, using a SD set would be better imo. Something like:
Careful
252 HP / 40 Atk / 212 SpDef

Swords Dance / Roost / Bug Bite / Bullet Punch

It would help take advantage of his bulkiness, and this way he really will survive HP Fire. Also his SD's are very easy to abuse with dat bulk.

Blissey- I wouldn't recommend having SR on a Blissey even though having hazards on is a great thing in weather but still her main purpose is to "Sponge" as you so wel put it. I would suggest Wish / Protect over Softboiled / SR. This way you can Wish Pass to other members of your team with bulk but not such reliable recovery (ie: Gliscor, Politoed, Scizor) And gives Toxic stalling more of a prowess as well. Also maybe put Max EVs into Def but remain with Careful nature, that's what I do at least :P

Other than that I really love the team, and I'll enjoy testing it, haha! So have fun consider the changes and do well!

Hidden Power Ghost on water pony over Hidden Power Ice. Beats Lati@ but also lets you hit Jellicent. I wouldnt worry about dragons since you have Ice beam all over the team and Garchomp / Flygon get wrecked by Surf anyway

thanks for the input... I really like scizor being banded he helps sweep at the end with BP or if I need to revenge kill something that has set up. Plus I like the power and scouting ability of U-turn helps me have favorable match ups through out the whole game.

imma try HP ghost I never thought about it I just see more grass types usually than jelliscent. Thanks =)

I'd recommend HP Electric over Ice or even Ghost on Keldeo. Electric still hits Jellicent for Super Effective damage and gives you an answer to Gyarados if Genesect happens to be taken out, without having to resort to poisoning it and losing a Pokemon in the process.
From personal experience I've found HP Ghost to not be too useful on Keldeo when used with either Genesect or Scizor. Hitting Latios on the switch isn't as important to Keldeo as hitting Gyara as it comes in to set up after losing a team mate.

All in all a fantastic team, one I certainly hated facing. :]

Ah, the constant issue of HP on Keldeo.

Personally, I think you should go with Electric, as AlbinoGibbon said, to kill of Gyarados which your team might not find fun to deal with in Rain. It also hits Jellicent and other waters hard, as stated before.

Blissey, Genesect, and Scizor take care of Lati@s anyway, so Ghost/Ice isn't really necessary, I don't think, unless you really want to ensure the OHKO on a 100% Garchomp / broken scale Dragonite. You can also try Flying to surprise Toxicroak, keep the Grass coverage that Ice gives, and also help against opposing Keldeo. None of them are really bad choices, but I do suggest trying all of them out - I did, and am still deciding between Ghost and Flying.
