Build! My NU against OU - 68% win rate!

Well I always wanted to make a NeverUsed team that could kick some OU behind. So I got cracking....

I know that heatran is the most used pokemon in OU folllow by scizor.... So I know right from the start that I needed something that can deal with both.
195.png

Quagsire (Tanker)

Seem to be nice... recover from damage, while dealing some too... He seems like a stall one somehow, so I needed something to help me stall things that could be effective. Other sets use toxic, but my set was full. Why not toxic spikes?

049.png

Venomoth (lead)

He is not very fast but he can be pretty good. I was concern of fake-out leads breaking my sash so I decided to put protect to last a bit longer. With some predictions he can sleep when needed and Bug Buzz Neutral damage when taunt. If unsure you can always protect but be careful to be setup on it. Also, if he survives... he can take grass attack going to quagsire.
Now, I got thinking what if Venomoth dies and leaves my tank wipe open for grass. I need something else that could take grass attack really well.

189.png

Jumpluff

With a wooping 350 speed, it can outspeed most things. It can take grass and earthquake, encore them, and set-up. The main problems is 90%/75% acc from 2 moves but the free turn or turns makes up the acc. Another problem is my weakness to fire that just pop up. So, maybe a Ninetails, Rapidash, or Flareon... Looking up on list I saw entei (which later someone toll me it was UU in someparts)

244.png

Entei (Physical attacker)

Good attack and nice def against fire. What else can you ask for. Now I needed something that could set up a sweep that nobody could expect, so unusual that it may even made others laugh.

097.png

Hypno (BellyDrumer/Salac berry)
Set seems nice, however, it was between fire punch and batoon pass... For some reason I choose fire punch since I just wanted to be epic and didnt want to waste a turn passing with danger of roar or hazer.
I needed a high attack revenge killer that could 1HitKO most pokemon in OU... but such power doesnt exist in NU or it does?

308.png

Medicham (Scarf)
Ability double power, the choice was nature. Adamant wont allow me to outspeed 394 pokemons or scarf ones higher then 388. Jolly could but it will miss some of its charm.

It was alright but winning/lossing rate was against be. Venomoth was able to setup spikes or kill lead, but around 70% of battles... they got rapid spin or absorb for things like breloom. Still, my news was when someone said to change entei since it was UU now along with espeon.

OUT

Flareon (S.def Wish Support)
I was thinking it could be nice to have a s.def along with a wall like quagsire.... Flareon could support even other hurt pokemon. Absorb fire, grass... Quagsire could absorb water and Jumpluff earthquakes.... He seem to be awesome. Later I found out he didnt have the stats to outstand a s.atk in OU. So, I was force to switch him out for another weakness I had.

OUT
082.png
Magneton (Steel Trapper)
He seem to be almost perfect in every aspect for this team. Trapping forretress, scizor, skarmory, metagross and more was like a thing from heaven. Sure he is inferior then his evolution but his small tiny higher speed can come handy sometimes.

Team seems to be working just fine, but someone was left behind with priority moves.... Hypno. With only quagsire and medichamp to pass it... he seen like obsolute as a batoon passer. Also, he was gettting taunt every time. Only time was when was able to set up was during a sleep pokemon or a encore pokemon setting up.

OUT
264.png
Lioone (Bellydrumer)

Priority move + stab on it. Nothing better, if a steel wall comes magneton can deal with it and use lioone as revenge killer. Also, he only needs bellydrum and he is set.

Main problem is leaving most synenergy to the poor quagsire and not having a fire resistance against it.

Team:
049.png

Venomoth (Lead)
252 Speed/ 252 S.Atk
Timid
Tinted Lens
Focus Sash

Protect
Sleep Powder
Bug Buzz
Toxic Spikes

Against Other Leads:

Aerodactyl: Best thing is to start bug buzz at start while it taunts. Allowing it to just set up stealth rocks before it dies. It's annoying when I get rock slide and flinch, but nothing I can do there since most people will taunt.

Azelf: Sleep power it. Considering the large amount is used for weather teams and people trying to set stealth rocks earlie, it wont get taunt that often. Then I can spike, bug buzz if still sleep and protect since explosion is a stable here.

Infernape: This guy can be a tricky one since you never know if it will fake-out or stealth rock... Best thing is to protect and let it set it. Follow by sleep powder and if it lands, set Toxic Spikes.

Metagross: Switch to magneton.

Anything Slower: Sleep it.

195.png

Quagsire (Tanker)
252 Def/HP
Impish
Water Absorb
Leftovers

Recover
Counter
Earthquake
Stone Edge (Ice Punch Testing)

Its bulkiness allows him to take close combat for 48% damage from a mixape. Brings grass attacks for jumpluff to set up with encore and can counter for kill a +6 gyarados with stone edge/waterfall set. Possible better tank then Swampert since it obtains Recover. A very understimate pokemon.

189.png

Jumpluff (Subseeder)
252 HP / Def 188 / D.Def 68
Timid
Chlorophyll
Leftovers

Encore
Sleep Powder
Leech Seed
Substitute

Can't believe how many times I seen this guy take like 50% hp for every pokemon of a team before its misses and it as to switch. People call it "Cheap" and "Skill less" after they face the fact that nobody in their team can counter it. Even if opponent roost or recover, it just encore it to finish moves. Sometimes, the lead is sleep by Venomoth and if you bring it without opening a opponent weakness, he will die faster then a pursuit against a gengar. He can also counter curse/calm mind pokemon which is great.

264.png

Lioone (Bellydrumer)
252 Attack/Speed (30IV HP)
Adamant
Gluttony
Salac Berry

Belly Drum
ExtremeSpeed
Shadow Claw
Seed Bomb

Did my opponent rotom just shadow ball my Quagsire and kill it? Chances are its a Choice Specs. Bring this guy, bellydrum, and without a steel with priority,he is sweep. Did my opponent substitute again after I encore it? Chances are he feel safe from leech seed and this guy can bring a sweep. Opponent just rest? Here he comes! In a battle you can get many opportunities to setup this guy with a little of prediction and luck.

082.png

Magneton (Steel Killer)
252 Sp.Atk/Speed
Timid
Magnet Pull
Leftovers

Thunderbolt
Substitute
Magnet Rise
Hidden Power (Fire)

Nothing much I can say here. He cover my flying weakness, kills steels, and can even kill a iron head jirachi that is scarf (unless I flinch to dead.)

308.png

Medichamp (Physical Sweeper)
252 Atk/Speed
Adamant
Pure Power
Choice Scarf

Low Kick
Psycho Cut
Trick (Ice Punch Testing)
ThunderPunch

I wish he had more speed and same power. Still its awesome when you see a blissey die by him since nobody expect low kick. He can kill gyarados after a DD (if x2+ DD, its quagsire job.) Can kill gengars, weavile, and machamp. Trick mess up my opponent to use just 1 move, which is good against walls.

Testings:
I did all testings at night. Still I record in a notepad things about each battle, difficult and win or lose. This was before I felt so sleepy and still keep playing like a brainless zombie for couple more battles...
Battleinfo.jpg

This was my highest straight wins... I could had gone more but I start doing things like.. magneton vs heatran or forgetting to protect with venemoth against fake-out. I did 20 battles like this and I end up with 12/20, which is exactly 60%. Overall was 19/27, which ends up at %70.37. There is a improvement of my team by 2% and I wasn't playing good at all in many battles and others I win still trying to attack >.< no wonder he wasn't moving...

*Note: If you want me to remove the above pic, I will since I know most people here play shoddy and not PO. However, for some reason I can't download it.

Just a thought, but in your lead match-up section, it says you switch Venomoth out for Magneton against lead Metagross. It's not overly common, but I HAVE seen lead Metagross that runs Earthquake before, so just something to keep in mind.

Also, how helpful are you finding Trick on Medicham? The reason I ask is because Medicham has the same base speed as Dragonite, so with your Scarf, you'll still speed tie with it after one DD. If you ran Ice Punch over Trick, a Pure Power Ice Punch against Dragonite is going to hurt. A lot. Ice Punch also hurts Shaymin more than any of Medicham's other attacks. Couldn't hurt to test it out and see if it works better than Trick.

Good luck with the team! I love NU, and it's always cool to see an NU team kick butt in higher tiers! ^_^

Use Toxic > Counter on Quagsire and Ice Punch > Stone Edge, Counter is absurd with 252 Def EVs.

And you can also stall things out and Toxic the switch-ins.

Ice Punch also catches Grass-types switch-ins.

Juice!
Well, I was finding trick useful against stallers but after trick medichamp gets outspeed easy. I was thinking on changing trick for ice punch and change it to speed nature. Otherwise, scarf heatran might cause some trouble in team.
Im gonna test that.

Arikado

Counter on such wall might seem useless.... however, toxic won't kill a gyarados with some DD thats about to sweep me >.> Stone Edge wont remove enough damage. Also, I can always rely to counter > recover > recover > counter... I seen many sweepers fall like that. Also, Im running a Toxic lead, spikes most likely will get remove by a poison pokemon or I might not be able to set them up at all. Either way, the ice punch idea seems like considering ice punch better acc, cover against dragons and flying, and 10% chance to hax, the less damage might hurts against flying pokemons but the acc will pay up for it.
Gonna test this thing up too.

Team improve 2% by changes which makes me happy.
I did see a sweeper metagross at start using agility. Which got lucky and sweep 4 pokemons before dying. And +att meteor crush and x2 crit in row to quagsire... thats some luck there.
