BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUBURN

Well I'm busy testing a whole bunch of sets, seeing if they are any good, and I was brainstorming about Magmortar... what could you do to make it better than Heatran? Here is my result. Read on!

Weavile (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- Pursuit
- Ice Shard
- Brick Break

This guy prevents those Suicide leads from setting down Stealth Rock, killing Azelf with a Fake Out + Pursuit combo, and killing Aerodactyl with a Fake Out + Ice Shard combo. Makes good revenge killer for DDmence and DDtar.

Keeping the Stealth Rocks at bay is very important when using Magmortar, as it takes 25% from them every switch in.

Tentacruel (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 208 HP/88 Def/36 Spd/176 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Sludge Bomb
- Surf
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin

Tentacruel helps contain Infernape and Heatran outbreaks. Rapid Spin is for if Weavile didn't do it's job, and my opponent got down the rocks. Surf is for STAB, Sludge Bomb and Liquid Ooze is for Celebi.

Toxic Spikes is very important here, because it discourages switching somewhat. One of my opponent's avoided Magmortar by switching constantly until Sandstorm wore me down, which was really lame. The extra residual damage also helps Dragonite set up on stuff too; with a combination of Light Screen and Roost, he's hard to take down, and the Toxic eats away at his counters.

Rotom-H @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 240 HP/44 Def/224 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Trick / HP ICE

My answer for Lucario, Scizor, Metagross and more. Trick is to ditch that scarf and get Leftovers from someone. Hidden Power Ice could be used to revenge Flygon or Salamence. Everything else is standard, except I ran a bit more defense so I can take on Gyarados easier.

Magmortar (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 152 Atk/244 Spd/112 SAtk
Mild nature (+SAtk, -Def)
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt

The star of the show.

This thing has only a couple of counters, and the rest of the team does it's job to keep them subdued. Dragons are weakened by Stealth Rock, Weavile and Zapdos beatings. Swampert is slowly worn down by Celebi and Toxic Spikes. Once those are out of the way, I'm free to rip stuff up.

Focus Punch OHKOs Blissey and Heatran easily, which are the most common switch-ins to this Pokemon. Thunderbolt 2HKOs every Bulky Water that is weak to it. Suicune, Vaporeon, even Milotic fall to this powerful blow. Fire Blast is the wickedly powerful STAB move, which can actually OHKO any Celebi thanks to the Expert Belt. Did you know that Heatran will OHKO a 252/40 Celebi only half the time?

Anyways, this thing totally rapes everything. Substitute blocks status and helps me respond to my opponent's actions. If you guys doubt the awesomeness of "BUUUUUBURN" then I will post a link to some damage calculations. Give him a try today... there is no faster way to remove Heatran or Blissey, as he baits them like Oprah to a ham.

Damage Calculations

251.png

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 240 HP/228 Def/40 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Grass Knot
- Recover
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock

Support Celebi. Helps soften up bulky waters into Magmortar killing range. Sets up the Stealth Rocks, required to get OHKOs on Blissey and Heatran. Thunder Wave for paralysis support. Recover is for recovery.

An efficient Pokemon, we all knew what it does already.

Dragonite (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 248 HP/64 Atk/196 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Roost
- Dragon Dance
- Light Screen
- Dragon Claw

The only way you're taking this down is STAB Ice Fang or Toxic. Nothing else can defeat Light Screen Dragonite. After you set up the Screen, even Vaporeon's powerful Ice Beams are glancing off Dragonite's orange hide, doing less than 40% even when you're not Roosting.

Dragon Claw is the only attack required, as it is so stupidly easy to get 6 DDs, that even Steels will be taking a beating from it.

I didn't play Shoddy today... I played late last night actually.

Black Sludge = Leftovers basically, except, if someone Tricked Tentacruel, they could Trick later on in the match and give one of my Pokemon Black Sludge. Yikes!

Hmm I see a bit of a lucario weakness. However lucario doesn't quite come in for free, and it would take high skill to get off that sd. Hmm, cruel can resist just about all of its moves too and weavile outspeeds but both are quite frail on the def side. Not quite sure if changes would be needed, but be careful of luke.

I also noticed a pretty big Stealth Rock weakness. I am willing to replace Zapdos, but what would I use instead?

I would like it to do OK against Lucario and Scizor, but not be weak to ground or rock. Is there any such pokemon? Maybe a Mesprit (Hidden Power Fire for Scizor of course)

You could use Rotom-H, skiddle. Problems could arise with Lucario, but you can see which set it runs and act accordingly.

Also props for using Magmortar, personally I like him as a lead but that's just me.

You don't have Liquid Ooze on Tentacruel you have clear Body... A mistake in Team Building? You might want to fix that lol.

Builind on Thorns Idea, Rotom H will work, and giving a Scarf will help you out against Lucario and suchlike. Trick means you don't have to be stuck with a scarf forever and he can do other Jobs. The only problem I could see there would be that you don't have instant recovery outside of rest.

But the question I ask you is, is the Stealth Rock Weak important when you have tentacruel. The way most games play out these days is that The opponants Stealth Rocker will die soon after setting them up (well there are more bulky ones nowadays), but most people having set up rocks will not worry about sacrificing their SRer, so if you can just get Tentacruel out once, then that won't be an issue, in a reasonable number of Battles.

Cool team, cooler Magmortar pic.

I see CM Cressalia being a big problem. Weavile's Pursuit won't do much to it, and it can hit 4/6 of your Pokemon SE with Psychic and Ice Beam.

I also see a Rock weakness. To compensate, I think Jirachi will do great things for this team. Wish can patch up some Stealth Rock damage, and has a nice set of resistances. I'd put support Jircahi over Celebi, or possiblty Zapdos but then you become slightly Heatran weak.

I don't see Lucario a big problem. I don't see how it would even get a Sword Dance in.

I put in Rotom-H. Cressilia won't be a big problem thanks to him... I can trick the scarf onto it if it has too many Calm Minds... then it will have to choose between Psychic (which weavile is immune to) or Ice Beam (which tentacruel might as well be immune to).

Metagross is also handled easier... Meteor Mash is NVE, while EQ and Explosion do no damage at all.

I'd give Dragonite 8 more evs in Atk as to give it that extra point in the stat.

And why do all of your pokemon hit about the same speed? Idk if that is such a great idea or not, but why do all of these pokes need to outspeed Jolly Ttar, though I seen maybe one Jolly ttar in 3 years, and then some?

Celebi needs to outrun Jolly Tyranitar because Grass Knot can 2HKO it on the switch.

Tentacruel can Surf it, so it makes sense to outrun it so that it can't force me out as easily.

I wanted Dragonite to outrun positive base 115s, and you might as well get the jump on Tyranitar if you're gonna go for that. Running 242 (and jus underspeeding) compared to 244 is trivial.

I forgot Dragonite has base 104 Attack instead of 105... so I thought 56 was the bonus point. Thanks for pointing that out.
