Rules
  • Follow all rules listed here.​
  • Schedule via Smogon VMs. It's easier for us to make decisions for activity calls when we can actually see what went down with scheduling.​
  • If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to us or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.​
  • Substitutions may be made after a week as started. When making a substitution, please tag myself, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware. Players who have already played in the week or were subbed out in the same week cannot be subbed back in.​
  • If a match remains incomplete by the time of the deadline, it will be subject to an activity call.​
  • Post replays. Not only are they useful for confirming wins, they contribute to usage stats and allow the people who couldn't watch the games live to watch them later. They're also required.​

congrats on the great record, good to see lads from UK doing well- big things to come. However, I think what you said is absolutely ridiculous considering that you didn't try out until the very day I was deciding the lineup and had never touched BW OU at that stage. You also asked me to essentially drop those who had tried out, and also shown an interest in the tier. Please tell me if you think anything I said below was unreasonable for you to hold such a grudge over this.

I know my name was mentioned in the conversation, so I thought I'd share my input on the whole thing.

While I can understand the frustration of not being picked in tours, especially those with a CA (I've been undrafted in many and continue to do so), I really have to respect Gypsy here for being open, genuine, and picking people purely on the tier experience/hard work at the time.

I was in the position at the very beginning, where I kept complaining about being left out - Gypsy gave me a reality check, and that's when I realised that I should just keep grinding tournaments, from the beginner-friendly team tours (e.g. Unova League, etc), to the individual ones, network with different people, and generally make myself known on the BW server and elsewhere.

Eventually this started to pay off, and at the time that BWWCOP happened before being rusty at present, I had finished being supported by different people in BW, playing Unova League, had a decent run in the BW seasonals, and generally playing ladder to learn the meta. I guarantee that if I wasn't doing any of those things, alongside taking Gypsy's comments on board, I would never have been picked or even considered for a spot.

Even now, I continue to grind different tours to get that experience and improve myself - I didn't think I would be picked for BWPL and I'm thankful for that opportunity.

At the end of the day, I see both points, but Gypsy has been active in the BW community for a long time, so he would have seen how involved everyone had been.
 
I think it is awesome that a previously unproven player dominated a strong BW field. It speaks to how hard he worked and how well he performed. A major congratulations is due for that effort, LB!

I also think it is true that with all of the information present and the fact that Team UK fielded a tournament winning roster, they did not make an error at the time months back when they decided BW WCoP rosters. It is cool to see Gypsy and Incognition provide public transparency on the situation, too.

I do not think we can use the former to undermine the latter or the latter to claim the former is a gimmick (not saying anyone is doing this -- clearly not the case).
