This is my stall team that I have ran for a week or so now. It has a win percentage of about 75% on the ladder after about 105 battles, which is not great but not bad either considering the Pokemon I use(3 UUs) and the strategy I employ.

452-m.png

Drapion (M) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 100 HP/152 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Brick Break
- Swords Dance
- Toxic Spikes

Drapion is my lead. For a while I did not run him as my lead, but it seemed like I could never end up getting Toxic Spikes down because I never felt comfortable bringing him in. However, as a lead, he usually faces other Stealth Rockers who usually don't attack 1st turn, so I always get at least one Toxic Spikes in. Shuca Berry is in case I face a lead Metagross or Swampert that will use Earthquake. Against Lead Azelf, I usually do not Toxic Spike 1st turn and instead Crunch, which will do 99% in most cases while Azelf can either Stealth Rock or Fire Blast for less than 50% damage.

I have him maxed out at Speed so he can place Toxic Spikes ahead of most leads, as well as other Pokemon in case I switch him back in later in the game. That is Drapion's main role on my team, to lay down the Toxic Spikes.

His secondary role is a quick fix for now that I implemented becuase I kept losing to teams who ran a Curse Rest Snorlax or Calm Mind Rest Suiciune as their last Pokemon, outstalling me. I ran Knock Off on him originally, but changed to Swords Dance so I can at least have a chance against these two fiends when they try to stat up at the end of the game. Because of this, I moved 152 HP EVs into Attack for more oomph, which will 2HKO Zapdos after a Swords Dance.

227-m.png

Skarmory (M) @ Shed Shell
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP/64 Atk/192 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Spikes
- Roost
- Whirlwind

Skarmory is my physical wall, though not as good as a physical wall in past generations, he still gets it done for the most part. This is a pretty standard Skarmory. He outspeeds Machamp which can harrass my team, and Brave Bird usually does Machamp in. Many matches I do not get Spikes down, but I still keep the move in stock for Jirachi and Scizor. Whirlwind is for Snorlaxes who think they can come in and curse, or anything else that thinks it can sit behind a substitute.

429-m.png

Mismagius (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/4 Spd/252 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Will-o-wisp
- Shadow Ball
- Pain Split
- Thunderbolt

Mismagius is my Rapid Spin blocker first and foremost. I give her a bulky Special Defense spread, though she doesn't shrug off Special Attacks as well as I would like, she does the job. She outduels Rotoms and Gengars with Shadow Ball, her Shadow Ball hits enemy Rotoms/Gengars harder than Rotoms/Gengars hit me with their Shadow Ball. I chose her over Dusknoir for more attacking power. Many times I bring her in against Swampert or Metagross leads who try and Earthquake my Drapion, meaning they can either sit in and eat a Will o Wisp or switch and have that eat a Will O Wisp. Pain Split is for Blisseys who think they can come in on me, and Pain Split is basically the most reliable recovery move here.

242.png

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Def/80 SAtk/176 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Softboiled
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam
- Aromatherapy

I tried to use Togekiss as my special wall, but Togekiss just couldn't get the job done because he couldn't take Ice or Electric attacks well. I had no choice but to bring in Blissey, as much as I didn't want to. I used Blissey as my lead for a while with Stealth Rock, but I viewed Blissey as too important to my team to use as a lead, and more often than not switched her out first turn then kept her in. I go with Aromatherapy over another special move for teams that like to use Toxic or Thunder Wave a lot, as a succesful stall team must stay away from status. I put Stealth Rock on her because it doesn't fit anywhere else on my team, and Ice Beam because Thunderbolt is walled by ground types and Flamethrower leaves me helpless against Heatran. Because Scizor is such a common switch in to my Blissey, I have considered replacing Ice Beam with Flamethrower, but haven't yet.

121.png

Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 128 HP/128 Def/252 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Ice Beam

My Rapid Spinner. I don't get Rapid Spin off a lot because of Starmie's frailness, but its needed, especially against teams who layer the rocks and spikes. I tried to go without a rapid spinner on my team but it proved too much. Stall teams rely on switching, and you need to be able to switch without being hurt doing so. I may not get Rapid Spin off right when the rocks/spikes go down, but I get it eventually, and thats what matters. I go with Thunderbolt/Ice Beam instead of Surf for more type coverage and a weapon against Dragons. Catching Flygon or Salamence in an outrage is a good thing with Ice Beam, bad with Surf. And I go with Recover to go with the stall nature of my team.

423-e.png

Gastrodon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sticky Hold
EVs: 252 HP/128 Def/128 SDef
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Recover
- Stockpile
- Earthquake
- Toxic

My secret weapon. With Trick being used so often now, as well as me seeing my team fall to Jirachis of all types before bringing in Gastrodon, I really think Gastrodon is a surprise to people who see it. I love switching in on a trick, giving me a free Stockpile. I go with Earthquake over Surf so I can hit Calm Mind Jirachi, the main reason I brought Gastrodon in my team. I go with Stockpile over Curse for more defensive coverage, as this is a stall Pokemon first and foremost. Toxic hits things that Earthquake can't, especially Zapdos and Latias. I have to watch out for Psycho Shift though. This set is walled by Gengar, Bronzong, Weezing, and Skarmory, however I can outstall all of those Pokemon with Stockpile and Recover, though Skarmory can Whirlwind me away.

TEAM BUILDING PROCESS

Because I wanted to eventually recreate my teams in my Pokemon Platinum Cartridge, the first and foremost thing I did was eliminate Pokemon that would be a royal pain in the ass to get legit and good versions of in-game. This meant no one-time legendaries or anything that can't be bred(or bred easily). So long Cresslia, Azelf, etc. Also, this meant none of my Pokemon would use Hidden Power either.

I knew I wanted a stall team. The first and foremost thing I did was list all Pokemon that got a Recovery Move(including Pain Split, Wish, and Leech Seed, but not Rest). I think the key to a stall team is having Pokemon that can recover.

After making this list, I knew that Stall Teams need secondary damage to work, hurting Pokemon that switch in. Therefore I wanted a team with Toxic Spikes, Spikes, and Stealth Rock. So I sorted my list of Pokemon with Recovery Moves into Pokemon that can learn any of these moves.

I also catergorized all the Pokemon I listed into Pokemon that get other moves that are friendly to stall teams, such as Will O Wisp, Thunder Wave, Encore, Whirlwind, Leech Seed, Aromatherapy/Heal Bell, Knock Off, etc.

Unfortunately, no Pokemon that learns Toxic Spikes gets a reliable recovery move. As much as I wanted all 6 of my Pokemon to get a recovery move, I guess 5 would do. I picked Drapion over Nidoqueen and Tentacruel. Nidoqueen I felt would be outclassed as a Toxic Spiker due to more weaknesses and not as strong defensively, as well as slower. Tentacruel I avoided because I think too many stall teams use Tentacruel, so I felt my team would be a bit unoriginal if I did use Tentacruel. I went with Drapion because he is a bit less common so opponents do not know what to expect. Drapion also works best as a lead of the 3 I considered.

With a team that relies on Spikes and Rocks, I needed a ghost to block Rapid Spin. Since no Ghosts get a reliable recovery move, it was Pain Split that I had to use. I picked Mismagius over Dusknoir for more special attacking power.

Stall teams also need to be able to switch at will without hazards, so I needed a Rapid Spinner. Starmie was the only Pokemon with a recovery move that gets Rapid Spin, so I picked him. Not a hard choice at all.

With half of my team down(Mismagius, Drapion, Starmie) I needed 3 more.

With the prevalence of Trick, I wanted something with Sticky Hold that could render them useless. Gastrodon, with a Recovery move and Stockpile for stalling, made this an easy choice as well over Swalot. Before Gastrodon, I used Umbreon and Wish+Baton Pass, but I felt Gastrodon had more stalling potential, as well as not being setup fodder for Jirachi.

Still needing a Stealth Rocker, I put my eyes on Skarmory, also needing a phazer and defensive oriented Pokemon altogether. However, Skarmory also got Spikes, so I went with Spikes instead and looked elsewhere for a Stealth Rocker.

And needing a Special Wall, I went with Blissey and handed Stealth Rock off to her. As much as I would want to give Stealth Rock to someone else, it doesn't fit anywhere else on my team. I have to make do for now. She got a bonus for getting Aromatherapy.

THREAT LIST - * = Minimal Threat, ** - Circumstancial Threat, *** - Capable Threat, **** = Major Threat

AZELF - Most are suicide leads, which my lead is Drapion. It's a 2HKO since all use Focus Sash, but my Drapion will Crunch turn 1, either making it use Stealth Rock and not hit me, or use Fire Blast and then do less than 50% damage, and Explode next turn, letting me switch in Mismagius. *

BLISSEY - I generally have to outstall these. It really helps when I get Toxic Spikes down, meaning it can't stay in forever. Drapion can hit it, and Skarmory will come in if it doesn't have Flamethrower or Thunderbolt. Mismagius Pain Splits at will. And of course my Blissey can sit in against it fearing nothing. *

BRELOOM - I do struggle against Breloom. Immunity to Toxic Spikes hurts. But its slow. I usually let Drapion eat its sleep and bring in Starmie it it has no Substitute up, and Skarmory or Mismagius if it does. I have had Brelooms wreck my team before, but thats because I don't know the moveset. If I know the moveset, I can take it on. However, when it gets one of my main counters asleep and gets behind a Substituate I am in trouble. ***

BRONZONG - My Gastrodon can just sit and take it, though my Gastrodon does nothing back. Skarmory also laughs at it, and can Whirlwind it away making it come back in and take more damage. If I know its going to explode, in comes Mismagius. *

CELEBI - Not really a problem. Blissey sits in on it, Drapion can take it on, and Mismagius also takes little from Grass Knot, though it has to watch for Leaf Storm, though it won't be a KO. **

CRESSLIA - Something I have to oustall. Calm Mind + Rest versions can be a bitch. Skarmory might Whirlwind it away if it doesn't Calm Mind too much. If I can get Gastrodon in and Stockpile, it also won't have as much oomph, and I can use Toxic on it as well. When it Rests, I can bring in Skarmory and Whirlwind it away. **

DONPHAN - Skarmory laughs at it, Starmie puts it away. Mismagius blocks its Rapid Spin and can dent it with Shadow Ball, only fearing Stone Edge. *

DRAGONITE - It's not fast, but Scarf Versions can be a problem. Starmie outspeeds it and OHKOs it with Ice Beam. The hard part about Dragonite is knowing its moveset. ***

DUGTRIO - Mismagius or Skarmory take care of it. **

DUSKNOIR - Takes Spikes/Toxic Spikes damage, no levitate. Meaning I can outstall it with Blissey or Skarmory as it dies from Poison. *

ELECTIVIRE - Can be a problem, but Gastrodon usually has its way. Not common, but Gastrodon can switch in, Recover/Stockpile, and KO with Earthquake or Toxic something that may switch in. **

FORRETRESS - Another Pokemon I usually outstall rather than kill. Skarmory eats its attacks, and Starmie spins away anything it lays down and hurts it with Thunderbolt while taking/recovering off minimal Gyro Ball damage. *

GALLADE - Mismagius walls its Close Combat and most attacks and can KO it with Shadow Ball, though I have to watch for Night Slash. Skarmory takes a number from Close Combat, but walls its other moves. Most Gallades are Choiced, so if I can lock it into a move I can take it out. **

GENGAR - A problem, but only because it has such a big movepool and I don't know what to expect. Blissey can take its attacks and Softboil it away, Starmie can outspeed it when its health gets low, Mismagius can come in on a Focus Blast, take a Shadow Ball and KO it back with Shadow Ball. Substitute/Exploding versions can be a pain. ***

GLISCOR - Skarmory laughs at it and can Whirlwind its set up attempts. Starmie can Ice Beam it to death, as can Blissey. Mismagius can Will o Wisp it to render its attacking power useless, Gastrodon can sit in on its attacks and Toxic it. Have to watch out for Swords Dance though. *

GYARADOS - A threat. I need to keep it from Dragon Dancing. Though Starmie can take a Dragon Danced Waterfall/Stone Edge/Earthquake, I still don't like bringing Starmie in against it. Mismagius can OHKO it, and Gastrodon can stockpile/recover and then hit it with a Toxic. Rest Talk versions can be a pain, but allows me to easily get in Starmie knowing it won't Dragon Dance. ****

HEATRAN - Blissey and Gastrodon. Gastrodon takes Fire/Steel moves, doesn't hurt too much from Earth Power. I have seen HP Grass verions that hit Gastrodon, but its not a big deal, I can just stall it out with Blissey and force it to switch or waste all its PP. **

HERACROSS - I have to be careful since Skarmory can't take many Close Combats from it. But again, most Heracross are Choiced so I just need to lock it into an attack and take it from there. Mismagius and Starmie resist Close Combat(Starmie can take advantage of its defense drops) and Skarmory and Mismagius resist Megahorn. **

HIPPODOWN - Skarmory walls it, Starmie hurts it and Gastrodon can shrug off its attacks and Toxic it. *

INFERNAPE - Probably the biggest threat to my team since I have nothing that can completely switch into it safely. Infernapes are usually biased specially with Close Combat, so my best bet is to try and predict a Close Combat and get Mismagius in there and get into a war with it, or get Starmie in there and take advantage of the defense drops. The difficulty of predicting it is a pain. I basically have to guess and hope I guess right. ****

JIRACHI - I have Gastrodon mainly on my team to counter it. If it wants to Iron Head me to death, it can do so against Skarmory or Gastrodon for little damage. If it wants to Calm Mind, Gastrodon can come in and Stockpile and Earthquake. Trick is also answered by Gastrodon, and since many Jirachi are scarfed, I can lock it into a move. **

JOLTEON - Can be trouble and a real problem if Blissey is dead. Mismagius and Starmie can't take much from it. Gastrodon can come in but will fear HP Grass. Skarmory and Starmie are dead meat. ***

KINGDRA - A threat, especially in the rain. If I can get a pure physical one, Skarmory can take it but not much. Mixed versions are tougher to deal with. Kingdra is a Pokemon I have to oustall, and try to get statused with either Poison or a Burn and just ride it out. ***

LUCARIO - Another threat. If it gets a Swords Dance in I am in trouble, since I can't switch in Skarmory to Whirlwind away unless I have it KO another of my Pokemon. Starmie can take a SD Extremespeed and KO it with a Special Attack. Mismagius will die to Crunch. ****

MACHAMP - Another Pokemon I have to generally outstall and ride out. Getting Skarmory in is a plus since it outspeeds Machamp and can KO with Brave Bird, but its a different matter of Machamp gets a Substitute up. Since most Machamp are DynamicPunch/Payback, Mismagius and Starmie are not an option. Gastrodon usually falls to Confusion, and Blissey is not an option either. Something I have to play ring-around-the-rosie with, try to guess and switch accordingly if it has a sub up and can not be taken care of with Brave Bird. ***

MAGNEZONE - Gastrodon generally has no problem here, though HP Grass can hurt, but its not common. I have Shed Shell on Skarmory incase it wants to come in. *

MAMOSWINE - Skarmory laughs at its attacks. Mismagius can burn it and hurt it even more. Since I run no dragons, Mamoswine's threat against my team is minimal. *

METAGROSS - Many lead Metagrosses. Skarmory can take its attacks. Gastrodon can come in on Meteor Mash and hit it with Earthquake. Mismagius can also come in on Earthquake and use Will O Wisp. *

PORYGONZ - Another Pokemon I outstall. Blissey can take its attacks, even HP Fighting after a Nasty Plot, but I have to have some help in outstalling it(usually Poison). **

ROTOM - If it wants to Trick, Gastrodon comes in. Gastrodon walls Rotom quite well(except the one with Leaf Storm, which is rare) and can Toxic it. Mismagius also takes Rotom attacks well and can KO back with Shadow Ball. Blissey doesn't take much but has to beware of Trick. **

RHYPERIOR - A threat with Fire Punch, but if not, Skarmory takes it well. Must watch out for Swords Dance though. Again, something I have to outstall. Gastrodon does a good job stalling it. *

SALAMENCE - Like Infernape, something I have to try and guess against. Most use Draco Meteor these days, so Blissey is usually my switch in, but if I am wrong I am in trouble, especially if it wants to Dragon Dance. I try to catch it in an Outrage or Draco Meteor and move in Starmie. ****

SCIZOR - Annoying it it can Swords Dance. If not, I can bring in Skarmory. If I think it has a Choice Band, try to lock it into an attack and take it from there. I try to keep it from Swords Dancing. As long as it doesn't do that, I am fine. ****

SKARMORY - When I see another Skarmory, I bring in my own Skarmory and lay down Spikes, and wait to be Whirlwinded away so I can bring in something with Thunderbolt to scare it away. *

SNORLAX - Only a pain if its the last Pokemon and uses Curse. Fire Punch variants mean my Skarmory can't outstall it at the end, but if it doesn't have Fire Punch I can outstall it with Skarmory. If it Curses mid-game, I just Whirlwind it away. Since most carry Rest, Toxic Spikes won't take it down. **

STARMIE - Mismagius for Rapid Spin, can take a Starmie attack and KO it back with Shadow Ball. Blissey takes the rest of its attacks. Must beware of Trick, however. **

SUICUNE - Like Snorlax, only a pain if its the last Pokemon and uses Calm Mind. Since most carry Rest, Toxic Spikes won't have an effect on it. I gave Swords Dance to Drapion as a possible remedy here. Blissey can outstall it if needed, since most Suicune only carry Surf and nothing else. Just get it to Surf 24 times and I am fine. **

SWAMPERT - Toxic Spikes brings it down, and without a recovery move, I can just outstall it or wear it down. Mismagius can Will O Wisp it for more pain and make my Blissey not fear it. *

TENTACRUEL - A bitch since it absorbs my Toxic Spikes, but since I lead with Drapion most bring it in early so I know its there. Then my Gastrodon can take it, as can Blissey, Skarmory, and Mismagius. **

TOGEKISS - A bitch. Though Blissey walls it(even with Aura Sphere) I have to beware of Nasty Plot. Gastrodon can outstall with Toxic it but must beware of getting flinched too many times. Something I oustall and wear down slowly. ***

TYRANITAR - Like Salamence and Infernape, something I have to guess against since it can go many ways. Drapion can KO it if it doesn't Dragon Dance. Toxic Spikes help wear it down. Gastrodon can outstall it. Without a Special Attack, Skarmory can stall it and whirlwind it away. ****

VAPOREON - I outstall him. I get him poisoned and outstall with Blissey or Starmie. Mismagius likes to Pain Split here. *

WEAVILE - Some sets can be destructive against my team due to Mismagius and Starmie taking Pursuit damage. However, most Weavile seem not to run Pursuit anymore. Skarmory doesn't take much from it. **

YANMEGA - Blissey walls it, so does Skarmory but not as well. Since most are leads, I let my Drapion take the Hypnosis. **

ZAPDOS - Blissey walls it, and can't switch in much due to Stealth Rock. Gastrodon takes on variants without HP Grass well and can hit it with Toxic. **

I have also made a list of my losses with this team, and the "main" Pokemon that did my team in during that loss. Here are some Pokemon that have wrecked my team in my losses:

Calm Mind Latias x2
Calm Mind Suicune
Rain Dance Kingdra
Swords Dance Scizor x2
Curse Snorlax x2
Dragon Dance Gyarados
Life Orb Gengar
Swords Dance Infernape
Jolteon
Sub Punch Breloom x2

Basically, Pokemon that setup are a problem, and I have to become better at predicting to avoid being set up on.

Disclaimer before rating

I am open to all criticism and suggestions as long as you follow my two guidelines:

1. NO HIDDEN POWER
2. NO POKEMON THAT ARE A PAIN TO BREED OR OBTAIN A GOOD VERSION OF IN GAME. THAT MEANS NO LEGENDARIES OR POKEMON THAT HAVE TO BE SOFT RESET TO GET, OR POKEMON THAT TAKE FOREVER TO HATCH IN AN EGG.

Rotom does everything Mismagius does but better for OU play. It also has access to Overheat (as Rotom-h) to better counter Scizor and Lucario and to give you a fire attack which you lack. It also gives you a switch in to Gyarados as it can OHKO with tbolt. Sure he may be harder to get, but it's really worth it.

Replace SR on Blissey with toxic or T-wave to pass around status. Ice Beam vs Flamethrower is personal choice. I would personally go Flamethrower, though. Ice Beam really only hits DDmence hard, but Twave (and to a lesser extent, toxic) pretty well neuters DD mence, whereas CBzor can survive while T-waved and is immune to Toxic.

Drapion seems like a wasted slot to me, Tspikes aren't extremely useful in OU and there are better users of the ability. He's not all that powerful as a sweeper either and fails to most common leads. SR is much more valuble early, and wasting a Blissey slot on it isn't advisable. He could be replaced with any number of things, but I'd recommend fixing up the rest of the team first then picking a lead that synergizes with the rest. At this point, I would reccomend a Roar/SR/Ice Punch/EQ Swampert since you're very vunerable to CMers like Suicune and Latias, and he can Roar them out while they stat up.

Simply get rid of Mismagius for Rotom-H and run the rest talker set. This is going to help you against a few of your percieved weakness's mainly Gyarados and the odd Lucario that doesnt have crunch. There are two options for move that work well, Rotom needs to be a Rest Talker though as stall simply needs the longevity that it provides. The set is Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball/WoW,Rest,Sleep Talk. 252hp 252def Bold though you can run 68spe to outspeed jolly ttar. I suggest WoW for burning stuff, mainly TTar its really useful against SD scizor who could be a problem too. Shadow Ball helps against opposing Celebi and other Rotom. Please dont use a scarf variant it doesnt work well in stall.

Secondly change your lead to Nidoqueen. Nidoqueen can set up Toxic Spikes SR not only that it also has EQ for TTar and Lucario whom it walls perfectly. Similarly to Swamp has Ice Beam for Salamence. In this way you keep some of your stall team's character and hopefully make it a bit more succesful.

I second the Rotom H > Mismagius switch, although I think Scarfing it would be a more valuable asset to your team. Lucario is going to give you monstrous headaches otherwise (mainly SD Crunch variants), as everything is taking at least 80% after a Swords Dance and Drapion is always KO'd by Close Combat + Extreme Speed and even has a ~3% chance to be OHKO'd with just Close Combat. I think Gyarados > Drapion would also be a welcome addition to your team as it means you now have a Crunch SDLuke check as well as a phazer to rack up Spikes damage. Toxic Spikes certainly aren't 100% needed in your team especially since they aren't helping much against pokes that are giving stall a lot of trouble anyway (CM Jirachi is a prime example). Also, your Starmie set is a bit whacked.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 132 HP/176 Def/200 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Recover
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin

Starmie should never be without its STAB, especially in your team since SD Ape is going to steamroll you without it. Reflect can be used over Thunderbolt (and i recommend it should you chose to run Rotom H, since it checks Gyara well enough). Rapid Spin is a staple in all stall teams as it means opposing stall teams will fall after you manage to kill their spinner.

I'm no Gastrodon expert, but i think Ice Beam over Surf would be adequate to prevent DDMence from setting up. Also on the subject of nitpicks, try using Skarm with a little more Speed to Roost off BandTar Stone Edges.

Also I'm under the impression this is a wifi team although you mention Shoddybattle. If it is indeed a WiFi team, iirc Rotom appliance can't be used on wifi so Spiritomb would be an equally solid choice imo.

why do you have both swords dance and t-spikes on drapion? You should switch him anyway to forretress, he can use t-spikes better, not only that but he can also run stealth rock so you get an extra slot on bliss, he can explode to take down a threat, and gyro ball fast sweepers

Rotom H is simply better than Mismagius in every way. With aromatherapy you can run a rest-talk set minus the talk (:

I would go with Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, Overheat, Rest. Since Pain Split is such an unreliable recovery move, the SpA boost and Speed boosts are NOT worth using Mismagius.

EDIT: Just in case you missed the election, Obama won

jk (:
