Calm before the Storm ( Gen 5 OU)

Hey guys, so this is my first RMT on any forum, so i hope it comes out good! Anyway, here is my team:

Spr_5b_381.png
Modest (willing to change to timid) Latios @ Choice Specs, Levitate
252 SpA, 252 Spd, 4 HP

Draco Meteor, Psychic, shadow ball, T-Bolt

Since this thing is OU for the time being, i'm willing to use this as a anti-lead instead of saz. It has a higher base Special Attack than Saz, and higher speed. It also has a totally different moveset than a Specs Saz would have. I decided to use this as a lead because it can pretty much OHKO any thing except for steels and Blissey with Draco Meteor. It is also very fast, so it can outspeed many leads without a priority move.

Spr_5b_598.png
Nattorei @ Leftovers, Iron Barbs
Relaxed Nature, 252 HP, 20 Atk, 236 SpD
Gyro Ball, Stealth Rock, Substitute, Leech Seed

Nattorei is here as protection for Latios if a scarfed dragon [Ex. Flygon revenge killer] or a threat to him switches in. Nattorei can then switch in on the dragon move, and set up rocks on the switch. Nattorei is also used for heals from walls with his leech seed. He also has gyro ball to try and stall out some walls, or to predict a switch from another poke.

Spr_5b_637.png
Urugamosu @ Life Orb, Flame Body
Timid Nature, 4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Spd,
Butterfly Dance, Flame Dance, Bug Buzz, U-Turn

Okay, this is my favorite pokemon from 5th gen, because it is really speedy, and has really good Special attack. The only reason i think its not in ubers is because of its x4 weakness to rock, and 50 percent SR damage. I switch this poke in on something like a scizor, so on the switch i can hit a butterfly dance, which is pretty much a Dragon Dance for Special Attackers. After +1 SpA, SpD, and Spd, this thing pretty much wrecks anything you can throw at it. Flame Dance is the main attack for Urugamosu, because it has the ability to increase Special Attack by one stage. I have bug buzz for pokemon like T-Tar, or pokemon that resist Flame Dance.

Spr_5b_073.png
Calm Tentacruel @ Leftovers, Liquid Ooze
252 HP, 252 SpD, 4 Def
Toxic Spikes, Surf, Rapid Spin, Sludge Bomb

So, tentacruel is one of my favorite pokemon, and i think it is a great spinner and Specially defensive wall. I have a spinner because urugamosu is on my team, but it is also good to have Toxic Spikes up as well to force switch outs of sweeps and walls. It is also has a decent amount of HP, so tenta wont die from an 80 base power atk. Tenta is also beastly at taking switch in damage.

Spr_5b_645.png
Jolly Randorosu @ Life Orb, Sand Power
4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spd
Earthquake, Swords Dance, Stone Edge, U-Turn

This is my physical sweeper. It is decent at switch ins, and really fast, so it can set up swords dance on the switch, and pretty much demolish the whole team with a STAB EarthQuake. I also gave it U-Turn so that it can switch out after dealing some damage to the enemy if a wall or counter switches in. Stone Edge is also great to have for pokemon that resist or avoid Earthquake.

Spr_5b_534.png
Adamant Roobushin @ Choice Band, Guts

252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 SpD
Drain Punch, Mach Punch, Payback, Stone Edge

Roobushin is my revenge killer with a Stab Mach Punch with choice band, it can take out a lot of stuff. This was my lead before to take out lead T-Tars, but i switched it with Latios because it would consistently make me switch out to something else when almost any other lead came out. I also gave it Drain Punch, Earthquake, and Stone Edge, for when i predict something to switch out to a ghost, or flying, or just so that i can get a harder hit on a switch that doesnt resist fighting. I also have drain punch to get back some Health since Roobushin doesnt have the best defenses.

This was my first RMT, so please give me some suggestions not only on my team, but how i posted this RMT. Thanks!

I have only seen Flygon a couple times, not really a threat in my book.
Could you please include all abilities?
also, your form/presentation is a bit confusing, could you work on it a bit?
I would suggest using the export button on the PO team builder, and using center tags on the specifics.

I would replace LO with Rock Jewel for Edge on Land

oh okay thanks, i havent really looked at many of the gen 5 items, so i'll switch it right now

Hi ITSU,

let me make this brief - you seem to already have a solid core going here but here are some quick changes to make it much better. first one is to add some physical defensive wall because stuff like dory, landlos, and even physical powerhouses like scarf hira can honestly bypass your team. i know tentacruel seems out of place but i think toxic spikes is no longer needed on such an offensive-based team like this. as such, you might as well attempt to form a core with nattorei by using burungeru over tentacruel. its burungeru with leftovers with the EVs of 252 hp / 252 def / 6 spd with a bold nature and the movesets will-o-wisp / shadow ball / surf / recover. surf is required to deal damage on landlos and doryuzu for hard damage over boil over.

these are very minor tweaks that will help you win games. firstly, timid on latios with the moveset of draco meteor / surf / thunderbolt / trick. this is the best coverage possible - anything that resist draco meteor (bar chansey, blissey, and some other gigantic special wall) is 2hkoes by surf. so scizor and tyranitar are both 2hkoed unless tyranitar is packing a lot of special defense. as for trick, it really is great if you want to pummel boosters such as quagsire, ranculus, and additionally catching nattorei off guard limiting its options severely with one move only. another minor tweak is protect over substitute on nattorei because this will allow you to not only heal off hp, but it will also allow you to scout for those occasional hp fire latios and latias. substitute is actually detrimental because nattorei needs its health.

as for other options, to improve overall synergy swap landlos' nature to naive and swap u-turn for hp ice. hp ice allows you to ohko most gliscors. once gliscor is removed, you'll see conkeldurr sweeping with relative ease now. spamming stab drain punch left and right. if you're not content with being stuck with one move, the bulk up version could be an alternative if you decide to swap hp ice on landlos. overall gl!

Change latios to timid, it's a waste not to capitalize on his 110 base speed. Your urugamosu should run either HP ground or HP ice so you're not completely walled by heatran and dragons, respectively. Give SR duty to another 'mon so nattorei can have spikes, as it's a waste of his ability to provide them to not have them on his moveset, also replace substitute without protect, as it's more efficient for scouting. Tentacruel should pump some defense EVs so it can switch into blaziken better.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I only have tenta on because he is water and a spinner. I think that if i switch him with burungeru, i'm going to have to take out Urugamosu, so any thoughts on what i should switch with him? I also switched Gyro Ball for Power Whip on Nattorei, and took out substitute for protect.

i agree with poppycock and franky.
also, i'd change urgamoth Flame dance to fire blast just for more damage and the sp. att boost is covered by butterfly dance. on urgamoth i'd also have another filler instead of u-turn cuz if you are constantly switching in urga, it can be dead soon with the stealth rock issue. maybe moonlight or hp ground or something.
or, you can switch to tenta and get a free spin off if you switch in on something that can't touch tenta. Also, you already have u-turn on Rand., so i think your good in that aspect. in my opinion, TechLoom makes a better choice of a revenge killer than Roob... With that boosted mach punch, and bullet seed up in this gen, it can be better.
otherwise, with good predictions, this team can be good in most cases. GL with it.

@ Eos: I decided to switch Urgamoth with a Scarf Tyranitar lead. I figure this because it can take out Tyranitar, and it gives my landlos SS. It also blocks other weather effects like rain and sun from playing a big part in a battle.

Also, do you guys think that now that i have SS, i should switch Landlos' item to Leftovers instead of Life Orb?

I would get rid of U-Turn on Urgamoth because if you have one or two Butterfly Dances under your belt I doubt you would use it.

If your opponent has a strong special attacker, I assume your first instinct is to go to Tentacruel, correct? However, it seems that without any reliable recovery, those repeated beatings will wear you down for sure, and once Tentacruel goes down, you seem to not have much to fall back on (possibly Nat?).

I would change your Latios's Shadow Ball to HP Fire, since he is walled outright otherwise by Nattorei (although, a Modest Specs STAB Draco Meteor probably stings, even when resisted. Fire just seems more useful that Ghost).

Sorry for the short rate, I'm tired and unable to focus =(

I made some changes, so just read the posts above yours and then reply again

Can someone tell me whats going on? Latios in OU? Can anyone give me a list because smogon still says that thing is uber. And latios should have timid to abuse that 110 speed.

This team is intended for 5th gen OU, where many banned pokemon from 4th gen are unbanned. Smogon has not yet updated the website for the fifth generation yet.

Yeah, and i could easily switch it with saz, or probably a garchomp would better suit my team if it does turn Uber
