[SET]
Iron Crown @ Weakness Policy
Name: Calm Mind (Psychic)
Ability: Quark Drive
EVs: 84 HP / 172 SpA / 252 Spe
IVs: 20 Atk
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Agility
- Stored Power
- Tachyon Cutter / Focus Blast
[SET COMMENTS]
Iron Crown charges into battle on offensive Psychic teams as a threatening Calm Mind setup sweeper with a useful defensive typing and decent bulk. With Calm Mind, Agility, and Stored Power, Iron Crown can quickly snowball out of control and muscle its way through Psychic-resistant foes while outrunning would-be revenge killers such as Meowscarada and Landorus-I. Weakness Policy is Iron Crown's preferred item, as activating it hugely increases Stored Power's Base Power without requiring multiple turns of setup. Once boosted, Iron Crown can easily use Tachyon Cutter to trample Steel-weak teams like Fairy, Rock, and Ice, while Stored Power blasts through teams typically lacking specially bulky Psychic resistant or immune Pokemon like Electric and Ground lacking Ting Lu. Focus Blast can lure specially defensive phazers that usually stop Iron Crown like Ting-Lu, Hisuian Goodra, and Empoleon. Iron Crown's EVs allow it to activate Speed Quark Drive in Electric Terrain, which is very useful to outspeed fast Electric types like Tapu Koko and Zeraora that typically use Electric-type attacks freely against Psychic teams. Iron Crown greatly appreciates dual screens support, so a dedicated setter like Deoxys-S is a great help. With dual screens active, Iron Crown can survive and activate Weakness Policy against dangerous attacks like Gholdengo's Never-Ending Nightmare, Mega Charizard-Y's Flamethrower, and Choice Band Excadrill's Earthquake. Tapu Lele is another notable partner, as it provides Psychic Terrain, blocking dangerous priority moves that could threaten Iron Crown like Sucker Punch and Shadow Sneak. In return, Iron Crown provides a switch-in to Poison-type moves targeting Tapu Lele and helps break through shared checks like Alolan Muk. Mega Gallade is another synergistic teammate that clobbers threats to Iron Crown like Hisuian Goodra, Blissey, Hisuian Samurott, and Bisharp. In turn, Iron Crown can break through physical walls that frustrate Mega Gallade like Dondozo, Quagsire, and Slowbro. Latias, sporting a Ground immunity and a Fire-type resistance, can not only cover these weaknesses for Iron Crown, but also can utilize Healing Wish to get it back in the race if a previous sweep attempt was halted via damage or status.
