National Dex Monotype Calm Mind Iron Crown

[SET]
Iron Crown @ Weakness Policy
Name: Calm Mind (Psychic)
Ability: Quark Drive
EVs: 84 HP / 172 SpA / 252 Spe
IVs: 20 Atk
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Agility
- Stored Power
- Tachyon Cutter / Focus Blast

[SET COMMENTS]
Iron Crown charges into battle on offensive Psychic teams as a threatening Calm Mind setup sweeper with a useful defensive typing and decent bulk. With Calm Mind, Agility, and Stored Power, Iron Crown can quickly snowball out of control and muscle its way through Psychic-resistant foes while outrunning would-be revenge killers such as Meowscarada and Landorus-I. Weakness Policy is Iron Crown's preferred item, as activating it hugely increases Stored Power's Base Power without requiring multiple turns of setup. Once boosted, Iron Crown can easily use Tachyon Cutter to trample Steel-weak teams like Fairy, Rock, and Ice, while Stored Power blasts through teams typically lacking specially bulky Psychic resistant or immune Pokemon like Electric and Ground lacking Ting Lu. Focus Blast can lure specially defensive phazers that usually stop Iron Crown like Ting-Lu, Hisuian Goodra, and Empoleon. Iron Crown's EVs allow it to activate Speed Quark Drive in Electric Terrain, which is very useful to outspeed fast Electric types like Tapu Koko and Zeraora that typically use Electric-type attacks freely against Psychic teams. Iron Crown greatly appreciates dual screens support, so a dedicated setter like Deoxys-S is a great help. With dual screens active, Iron Crown can survive and activate Weakness Policy against dangerous attacks like Gholdengo's Never-Ending Nightmare, Mega Charizard-Y's Flamethrower, and Choice Band Excadrill's Earthquake. Tapu Lele is another notable partner, as it provides Psychic Terrain, blocking dangerous priority moves that could threaten Iron Crown like Sucker Punch and Shadow Sneak. In return, Iron Crown provides a switch-in to Poison-type moves targeting Tapu Lele and helps break through shared checks like Alolan Muk. Mega Gallade is another synergistic teammate that clobbers threats to Iron Crown like Hisuian Goodra, Blissey, Hisuian Samurott, and Bisharp. In turn, Iron Crown can break through physical walls that frustrate Mega Gallade like Dondozo, Quagsire, and Slowbro. Latias, sporting a Ground immunity and a Fire-type resistance, can not only cover these weaknesses for Iron Crown, but also can utilize Healing Wish to get it back in the race if a previous sweep attempt was halted via damage or status.

Iron Crown charges into battle on offensive Psychic teams as a threatening Calm Mind set-up sweeper with useful defensive typing and decent bulk. With Calm Mind, Agility, and Stored Power, Iron Crown can quickly snowball out of control and muscle its way through Psychic-resistant foes like Hatterene and Gholdengo while outrunning would-be revenge killers such as Meowscarada and Landorus-I. Weakness Policy is Iron Crown's preferred item, as proccing it hugely increases Stored Power's base power without requiring multiple turns of setup. Iron Crown usually should run Tachyon Cutter as a STAB option to maximize its effectiveness in the Fairy, Rock, Ice, and Steel-neutral matchups. Tachyon Cutter, as a multi-hit move, bypasses Focus Sash, breaks Multiscale, and notably kills Mimikyu in a single hit unboosted. (can probably be cut since it's a generic STAB) Focus Blast is a more niche option that can lure specially defensive phazers that typically stop Iron Crown like Ting Lu, Goodra-Hisui Hisuian Goodra, or Empoleon. Iron Crown's EVs allow it to gain a speed boost on Electric Terrain, which is very useful to outspeed Tapu Koko and other fast Electric types like Zeraora that can typically click Electric attacks freely against Psychic teams. Iron Crown greatly appreciates dual screens support, so a dedicated setter like Deoxys-Speed is a great help. Tapu Lele is another notable partner, as it provides Psychic Terrain to block dangerous priority moves that could threaten Iron Crown like Sucker Punch and Shadow Sneak. In return, Iron Crown provides a switch-in to poison moves targeting Tapu Lele and helps break through shared checks like Alolan Muk. Mega Gallade is another synergistic teammate that clobbers threats to Iron Crown like Hisuian Goodra, Blissey, Samurott-Hisui Hisuian Samurott, and Bisharp, while Iron Crown can overrun physical walls that frustrate Mega Gallade like Dondozo, Quagsire, and Slowbro. Choice Scarf Latias can sponge Fire and Ground type attacks aimed at Iron Crown while utilizing Healing Wish to get Iron Crown back in the race if a previous sweep attempt was halted via damage or status. Iron Crown helps Latias decimate the Fairy types that want to switch into Latias' Draco Meteor.

- Would reorder the set to match the flow of your setences especially the introductory + second sentence.

- Calm Mind
- Agility
- Stored Power
- Tachyon Cutter / Focus Blast

[SET COMMENTS]
- Remove Hatterene and Gholdengo as for one Hatterene is a flop and gholdengo can just bully it out + 1v1 it with z ghost. Instead i would just mention the type mus it sweeps in after boosts.
- Why does Iron Crown appreciate dual screens support from deo-s?? Would mention either what we survive now or some hits we take better from mons we are normally afraid of thanks to screens. Like now we survive a flamethrower from m zard y which also now allows us to proc weakness policy and now have roll to OHKO it afterwards (25percent roll but hey a roll is a roll lololol). Also Deoxys-S no need to spell out the speed.

"Choice Scarf Latias can sponge Fire and Ground type attacks aimed at Iron Crown while utilizing Healing Wish to get Iron Crown back in the race if a previous sweep attempt was halted via damage or status."
- Would reword the first part of the sentence as latias is immune to ground attacks bar like mold breaker excadrill so i would start off by saying: Not only does Latias provides a ground immunity, but it also can sponge Fire attacks aimed at Iron Crown while also utilizing Healing Wish to get Iron Crown back in the race if a previous sweep attempt was halted via damage or status.

- Right now having a choice item means nothing in the sentence as you can forgo it and still get the job done in a fire resist / ground immune and have more freedom in moves / possibly utilizing recover. I would either remove Choice Scarf from the sentence or further mention why we are utilizing scarf latias for iron crown.

will take a look after implements, good writing fam

I think you would actually be surprised re: Gholdengo. Iron crown after a Calm Mind doesnt die to ghost-z from typical physdef dengo, and woth screens up its not even close. If dengo clicks ghostz and procs weakness policy, one calm mind and the weakness policy boost turns stored power into a nearly guaranteed ohko on Gholdengo.

0 SpA Gholdengo Never-Ending Nightmare (160 BP) vs. +1 84 HP / 0 SpD Iron Crown: 276-326 (80.7 - 95.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+3 172 SpA Quark Drive Iron Crown Stored Power (140 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Gholdengo: 360-425 (95.4 - 112.7%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

Even Nasty Plot dengo variants can't beat Crown freely because +2 GhostZ doesnt kill through screens after a Calm Mind. If the dengo player says "ok i will just boost to +4 to kill in one shot" its actually not safe because Iron Crown can 2HKO with Stored Power after 2 calm minds. So if dengo comes in as Iron Crown clicks Calm Mind, then clicks Nasty Plot as Crown Calm Minds again, it's still losing the 1v1 if screens are up because Crown can just go for the 2hko here and not get OHKOd.

implemented, let me know what you think of the update

- can mention like Corviknight as Psychic Resistant mon you muscle past thru (would remove the foe part.)
- remember ting-lu isnt a resist if it takes nothing from psychic attacks. I would just remove the psychic resistant part or just add in: or immunity

qc 2/2 well done :Arcanine:
