Can someone explain to me the quirks of Toxic Orb?

Ok, so the basic description is that Toxic Orb poisons you at the end of the turn. Having used Breloom, this is not always the case, as if you get paralyzed, Toxic Orb does not kick in.

I was reading a warstory in which RestTalk Gyara was getting screwed over by Toxic Orb. Some resttalkers choose to just use rest-sleep talk-sleep talk-rest-sleep talk-sleep talk-rest, etc. In my mind, this isn't really getting screwed over, since you are still in slumberland as opposed to poisoned?

Thanks in advance for clarifying.

Well... pretty much what you said.

Toxic Orb attempts to poison the holder, but if they don't meet the criteria like with any other regular cast of Toxic/Poison-effect; like being a Steel type for instance, or already having a status effect on them because you switched in on a Paralysing move, then the attempt fails. (... but it failed!)

Rest on the other hand removes your status effect before applying sleep and healing the poké. So it's not exactly being 'screwed over', but who knows, supposing in some cases it could add a little pressure if you add that poison and some Sandstorm damage that they are no longer recovering with Leftovers.

(Of course if you Trick a Toxic Orb onto a Rest-talker where it's not entirely devastating then you could always Trick it back.)
:naughty:
