Final Submission

Volkraken
, the Infernal Squid Pokémon

X: This Pokémon resides in the abyss of the sea, where it attracts prey and fellow Volkraken alike using the glowing spots all over its body.

Y: It produces searing flames capable of melting a warship's hull. Sailors claim that those who stare into Volkraken's false face will have their souls stolen.

Final Submission

Volkraken
, the False Light Pokémon

X: Volkraken will secretly analyze its prey for hours to determine which pattern of flashing lights from its false face will disorient its quarry the most.

Y: Mariners must navigate with their eyes closed through Volkraken's territory, fearing that they may look into the hypnotic false eyes of one of these Pokémon.

Final Submission

Volkraken
, the Abyssal Flame pokémon

X: It lives around cracks on the ocean floor where magma emerges. If it strays too far from its nest, it hardens into stone.

Y: It attracts prey using the glowing rings on its body before superheating the water around its victim and boiling it alive.

In my X entry, I decided to focus on the 'volcano' part of its name, while in the second i went for a slightly creepier entry about hunting which is actually fairly common in the pokédex (see Kabutops draining fluids for example)
Quanyails, Yeah, I see your point about it being similar to Slugma, but if it's supposed to be an underwater volcano thing as its name implies, and slugma is made of lava, some similarity makes sense to me. I slightly reworded the second entry as you suggested. Thanks for the tip.

Before I give my final submission, I want to clarify, is the é allowed, because it would make sense if the entry had the word Pokémon in it, but it didn't appear on the allowed characters list? (Just wanted to make sure because I really hate spelling/grammar stuff and this almost qualifies, but I didn't want to be disqualified.)

EDIT: Whatever, nobody is answering so I'll play it safe.

Final Submission

Volkraken
, The Steam Pokemon

X: It is said that Volkraken lures for its prey but nobody can confirm because there is nobody that survived an encouter with Volkraken.

Y: Vokraken has a low temper. And when it is angry it is able to set everything on fire, even solid stone.

Final Submission

Volkraken
, the Mantle Pokemon

X: Volkraken live in small colonies around deep-sea vents. They attract prey by flashing the light patterns on their bodies.

Y: When its prey comes near, it traps them in its tentacles and roasts them alive with boiling-hot water.

Final Submission

Volkraken
, the Vampire Squid Pokémon

X: Volkraken love to bask in boiling hot water. These Pokémon are infamous for getting into the boiler rooms of even the most secure ships undetected.

Y: Volkraken has excellent control over its bioluminescent lights. It can use them to entice prey, frighten larger Pokémon, or seek out and attract a mate.

Quanyails thanks for the feedback! Yeah, the alternate spelling "vampyre" isn't that great to me the more I think about it.

Final Submission

Volkraken
the Ocean Empusa
Pokémon

X: When confronted with a difficult opponent, it uses its false face to buy itself time to think. No obstacle can stop it with sufficient contemplation.

Y: It is said that when it comes too close to the surface, it disintegrates into hot sea foam. People believe foolish Volkraken warm the ocean.

See my first post for reasoning. The x entry is meant to show how analytic it is, as well as begin an infiltrator. The y is meant to symbolize a combination of vampires' weakness to sun and some folk tales about mermaids. I also added it to be its own legend. I will stand by it as an empusa, as I think it is great for a vampire squid to have its species name reference the Greek vampire.

Volkraken
, the Abyss Pokemon

X: It's not powerful enough to crack open the shells of its prey, so instead it boils from the inside out until the meat comes free.

Y: When angered, it will heat the surrounding water into glowing steam. Many ships that follow the light soon meet their end.

Abyss is a religious term for a bottomless pit leading to the underworld as well as referring to the second deepest layer of the ocean.
The entry for X is from Scald and Infiltrator.
The entry for Y is based primarily on its secondary fire typing as well at its raw power. Rising bubbles of gas have also been suspected as a possible cause of many Bermuda Triangle shipwrecks. While the bubble of steam is underwater, it exerts enough pressure to remain stable. Once the bubble(s) reach the surface, it could either pop and let the ship fall into the cavity or they would lower the density of the water far to much to support a ship. Either way, the ship and her crew would meet a quick and sudden doom.
I feel like these entries describe it well and give reason for sailors to fear Volkraken as a bad omen and a destructive force.

Final Submission

Volkraken
, the Sea Monster Pokemon

X: Volkraken demonstrates perfect control over fire by changing the frequency and brightness of its bio-luminescence.

Y: It's known by sailors as the "Vampire of the Sea", due to the eerie markings on its body and tooth-like injuries it can inflict.

Final Submission

Volkraken
, the Magma Squid Pokemon

X
: Groups of Volkraken often rest near volcanic vents to absorb geothermic energy, later to be utilized for scorching-hot ambushes.

Y: This Pokemon waits in the shadowy depths, calculating the right time to strike and drain the life force from its unsuspecting prey.

Final Submission

Volkraken, the Pyrolumine Pokémon

X: Tampered by the hydrothermal vents it lives by, Volkraken sense prey with their heat reception, then lure them with the luminous organs on its body.

Y: Legend goes an ancient tribe released a gigantic Volkraken that made the ocean temperature rise immensely, killing marine life en masse.

Final Submission

Volkraken
, the Magma Depth Pokemon

X: It communicates by flashing large bioluminescent tissues above its eyes. It can re-shape these tissues into faces that show a wide range of emotion.

Y: It hides in smoke emitted from hydrothermal vents to ambush prey. When it catches meals, it drains their life force and swallows them whole.

Volkraken,
the Vent Squid Pokémon

X:
It constricts prey with its tentacles and drains their life force. It then finishes it by shooting out boiling water.

Y:
Volkraken absorb superheated water from undersea vents to power their attacks. These Pokémon are considered extremely intelligent and can mimic human faces.

Final Submission

Volkraken, the Vampire Squid Pokemon

X: Volkraken uses receptors on its tentacles to sense body heat underwater. It then predicts its prey's next move with its sixth sense.

Y: The heat from this Pokemon can conduct through any material. Using this heat, it liquefies its prey's internal organs before sucking out the fluid.

I tried to include several elements about the CAP, especially the vampire squid part. I drew inspiration from how vampires sense body heat from blood (well, at least vampire bats do) and how they feast on blood (a body fluid as in Y). Also was making a reference to how some octopuses eat crabs by liquefying their insides and sucking them out. The X entry is mainly based on the Analytic part, and I tried to incorporate both Fire and Water into the entries.

Final Submission

Volkraken
, the High Flame Pokemon

X: Volkraken has been retold of in countless myths. It is believed that flocks of them are responsible for Bermuda Triangle mishaps.

Y: Because of poor eyesight, Volkraken's false face lights up to help its vision. Many lights underwater indicate that Volkraken are planning their next target.

Final Submission

Volkraken
, the Deep Sea Pokemon

X: Its body constantly emits heat, which allows it to survive in cold water. Prey are often attracted by the heat.

Y: Its large eyes enable it to see in the depths of the ocean. It uses its flashing lights and false face to startle predators.

Not entirely happy with these, but they'll do. In keeping with the life/death theme of X/Y, the X entry deals with the possibility of Volkraken eating things, and the Y entry with it being eaten. X also alludes to the Fire typing, and Y to Analytic, since I thought they were the details that could use a bit of support in this stage. Species name is shared with Huntail. I guess it's a bit late to give feedback on other entries, but good luck to everyone!

Final Submission

Volkraken,the Abyss Pokemon

X:It stalks it's prey before attacking, giving it the upper hand. It's water blasts can pierce through solid titanium, according to tests.

Y:This Pokemon can sense it's foes, thanks to it's extremely high sense of smell which makes up for it's poor eyesight. It can also expel heat from the many holes in it's body.

Final Submission

Volkraken, the Vampire Squid Pokémon

X: This Pokemon incinerates its prey even when underwater. Researchers hoping to study this Pokemon know to keep their distance.

Y: Volkraken was discovered when scientists investigated intense beacons of light on the ocean floor.

Final Submission

Volkraken
, the Vampire Squid Pokémon

X: Volkraken utilizes its limberness and intelligence to pierce through opponent defenses without letting them escape.

Y: It mastered Fire-type attacks after adapting to the hydrothermal vents at 2 miles deep. Its bioluminescence is the only light that exists at that depth.

(Whew! Just in time.)

Thanks for your contributions everyone! I've unfortunately had to make the following disqualifications with the help of the grammar team (thanks!).

Hoping4megasceptile - no comma after Volkraken, first line broken into two lines

magikarpmandude - Too many words, missing spaces between punctuation, grammar mistakes

Ludicolo_Dancer - In the X description, "encounter" is misspelled.

Toebag - In the X description, "bio-luminescence" does not need the hyphen.

Deck Knight - In the X description, "re-shape" does not need the hyphen.

wh0sy0urpapa - In the X description, "opponent defenses" is incorrect for a few reasons; opposing Pokemon are called foes or enemies while "opponent" refers to an opposing player. Even if "opponent" were to be considered an appropriate term here, it should show possession with an apostrophe.
