Two: 16
And with that, Necturna will not have two pre-evolutions. This poll will determine once and for all whether Necturna will have a pre-evolution or not! Again, this will be a single bold vote poll between None and One, so a typical vote might look like this:

My Preferred Entry

If the voter wishes, he may post comments on his vote below the actual vote. Only the vote itself should be bold and none of the supplementary text should be bold.
Please note that any posts that do not contain a vote will be moderated and the poster warned. If you feel compelled to say something in your own vote, you may do so, but don't try to incite a discussion. Keep discussion to the IRC channel, #cap.

This poll will be open for 24 hours. The CAP 2 final product can be seen here.

(...No, no more ducks.)

Sticking with the idea that Necturna, while physiologically capable of being a second-stage Pokemon, isn't designed flavor-wise to be anything but a standalone.

I also loathe the idea of letting mini-Necturna run around LC or NU/RU with Eviolite and QD / Sacred Fire / who knows whatelse.

Let's not follow Game Freak's pointless trend of giving almost everything standalone an evolutionary line, à la Gen 4. I'd much prefer it if we made separate CAPs entirely for the lower tiers rather than making lesser "clones" of existing CAP Pokemon.

I'd like to have something to do

EDIT: Oh wait I probably ought to provide reasoning

- This pre-evo has no metagame impact whatsoever as there is no support for LC CAP, and does not exist for the purposes of the playtest, thus it is more or less restricted to CAP ASB
- I like CAP projects where we can be less restricted by a concept and can have a bit more fun as a community project since we're not actually expected to learn anything
- The pre-evo process is more or less the only part that has not been perfected yet, so we'll need a trial run of the new timing at some point
- From a flavour point of view, Necturna itself is absurdly complicated, far more so than other standalones like Absol and Skarmory. The only Pokemon that have that level of complexity to them are a) legendaries and b) evolved forms, and even that's stretching it a bit
- Baby Necturna will be adorable
- I hate essays so goddamn much

I have trouble following the logic of "X Pokemon has a pre-evo and is similar to Necturna." Necturna is its own individual Pokemon that's design is quite unlike anything else in the world of Pokemon! I'm casting my vote based off of what I think about Necturna as its own case. And stylistically, I see her without a pre-evo. Regardless, best of luck to both sides!

Originally I was thinking two or none, but someone in the last pole brought up a good point. This Pokemon simply has too high of a BST to be a single stage without being legendary. It is just unrealistic to have none. And that's not even getting into the other complexities it has not seen in single stage Pokemon.

Once more I will say this: If Necturna was an event Pokemon, having no prevo would be the best. However, Necturna is not an event Pokemon, and no non special Pokemon like it exists that does not have multiple stages.

The BST and complexity reasons won me. :P There are some non-evolving, non-legendary pokemon, but they seem to have the stats and complexity of the middle pokemon in a three-stage line. Necturna is quite fancy in comparison. I draw parallels to stuff like Larvesta/Volcarona, Zorua/Zoroark, Petilil/Lilligant.

Echoing other sentiments. Necturna is great as it is, it doesn't need a pre-evo.
