CAP 29 So Far

-----

Legal Pokedex submissions must meet the following standards
  • Species Names cannot be over 13 characters.
  • Pokedex Entries must have flawless grammar. Smogon has a Grammar & Prose team that will help identify mistakes.
  • Pokedex Entries cannot be longer than 32 words and cannot be over 156 characters.
  • Pokedex Entries can only contain the following characters:
    • Letters A-Z
    • Numbers 0-9
    • Dash (-)
    • Apostrophe (')
    • Double quote (")
    • Period (.)
    • Exclamation point (!)
    • Comma (,)
    • Colon (:)
    • Semi-colon (;)
    • Space
Work In Progress (WIP) Pokedex Entries can be posted at any time for comments from the community.

No more than three WIP Pokedex Entries can be posted by any individual person through the entire course of the submission thread. This limit applies to ALL posts made by a single person, even if previous posts are edited or deleted. This limit is intended to curb the tendency for some submitters to spam the thread repeatedly with multiple Pokedex Entries. This detracts from other submissions and makes it difficult for commenters to survey the submission thread.

Do not bump your WIP Pokedex Entries by posting them repeatedly, or making minor wording changes. Bumping will result in the disqualification of all Pokedex Entries by the offender. Editing or deleting bump posts will not prevent disqualification.

Only ONE Final Submission can be made per person.

Pokedex entries Final Submissions must posted exactly in the following format and in the following exact order:
  • The first line of the post must have the words "Final Submission" in bold on its own line. No other text may be included before the bold heading.
  • A blank line
  • "<Pokémon Name>, the <Species Name> Pokémon", with the Pokemon name and the Species Name in bold
  • A blank line
  • The Sword Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Sword" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
  • A blank line
  • The Shield Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Shield" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
Below the Final Submission you can post other comments, explanations, etc.

Example final submission:

Final Submission

Dragapult
, the Stealth Pokémon

Sword: When it isn't battling, it keeps Dreepy in the holes on its horns. Once a fight starts, it launches the Dreepy like supersonic missiles.

Shield: Apparently the Dreepy inside Dragapult's horns eagerly look forward to being launched out at Mach speeds.
Any Final Submission that does not follow the proper format will be disqualified.

WIP

Chromera
, the Benefactor Pokémon

Sword: Chromera has been a longtime influence on human art. It's said that its tail whispered the basics of cave painting into human dreams thousands of years ago.

Shield: An old wives' tale claims that Smeargle worshiped Chromera for years. In return, Chromera provided Smeargle with its paintbrush tail, to Smeargle's delight.

Shield: Some artists go on long journeys in the hopes of meeting Chromera during their travels. Those who succeed claim to have been inspired by its presence.

WIP

Chromera
, the Oil Painting Pokémon

Sword: The oil paint that makes up its body was used in some of the most iconic paintings. However, its incredible toxicity cut many artists' lives short.

Shield: The paint on its mane reacts to opponents' attacks, subverting their strategies. Its gaze is said to either inspire incredible creativity- or sap it away.

Final Submission

the Spectrum Pokémon

Sword: It is said that the cave Chromera calls home is painted with dizzying, colorful patterns that drive Pokémon and humans alike mad.

Shield: Legend has it that hundreds of millions of years ago, Chromera leapt into the sky and split the sun’s rays, creating color.

Chromera,
the Paint Pokémon

Sword: Chromera is said to stalk its prey by making its paint on its mane blend into the environment, then it wraps its tail around its prey to catch it.

Sheild: Many famous artists have used Chromera's special paint in its mane because of its ability to change into any color.

WIP

Chromera
, the Painting Pokemon.

Sword: Because of Chromera's ability to change the colors of it's mane at will, it can hide itself from sight. A lot of people have never seen it.

Shield: Many people believe Chromera is related to Smeargle, mainly because of their tails. That connection has never been confirmed, though.

WIP

Chromera
, the Mural Pokemon

Sword: Cave Paintings suggest that this Pokemon was once a ruler of an ancient civilization. The civilization was torn down by the Darkest Day, however.

Shield: The Snake on Chromera is highly aggressive. It is said that its venomous bites can burn a hole in your flesh to up to 6 inches.

I'm not too good at pokedex entries, so any feedback is welcome. Chromera is kind of our legendary or mythical cap, so i wanted to give the dex entries that kind of vibe, so that's what i did with the sword entry. Shield, i made it represent its Poison and Dark typing

WIP

Chromera
, the Oil Paint pokemon

Sword: When Chromera is hungry, it manifests images of food on its mane. Anyone fooled by these illusions is absorbed into its liquid body.

Shield: While the body sleeps, the tail remains awake, passionately painting intricate designs on nearby surfaces. The head never seems to look at them.

I decided to do an entry exploring the two features I feel are most distinctive in Chromera; the mane and the tail. I wanted both entries to reflect a sense of creativity and use its painting motifs, and I wanted it to feel threatening and mysterious as a dark type should be, but keep a strong sense of personality, playing up a conflict between the more serious and beast-like head and the much more sly-looking tail.

Banned deucer.
WIP

Chromera
, the Illustrious Pokemon

Sword: The oily substance dripping from its body shines with an otherworldly iridescence. Those who encounter it have claimed to see terrifying reflections within.

Shield: The head on its tail lacks a brain, and can only sense simple vibrations. It absorbs energy into its body and projects it outward into vivid patterns.

The Sword entry is meant to be a subtle allusion to The Picture of Dorian Gray, which works well with its Dark/Poison typing, while its Shield entry is meant to reference the supporting art that Gravity Monkey drew to showcase its ability. Its species name also invokes a bit of wordplay, since Illustrious sounds a bit like "illustration," as well as being a nod to its third place name sub, Illustregis.

WIP

Chromera
, the Coloration Pokémon

Sword: A local legend states that the colorful mural that once adorned the Stow-on-Side cliffs was the work of this Pokémon; its destruction likely angered it.

Shield: It exudes a caustic, oil-based substance from the mouth on its tail. Using secretory glands in its canvas-like mane, Chromera deftly shifts its coloration.

The Sword entry refers to the colorful mural in Stow-on-Side, the town in the Galar region where Bea/Allister is the gym leader. The mural was a notable story element where Bede’s destruction of it in his search for Wishing Stars revealed the historic statues of Zacian and Zamazenta hidden within the cliffside. I thought it would be a fun way to tie Chromera into the SWSH lore.

WIP

Chromera
, the Creation pokemon.

Sword: It can create food and water with a brush of its tail. However, it prefers to lure other pokemon with illusions of a paradise.

Shield: Any pokemon or human who sees the illusions made with its tail will be hypnotized beyond reason. They will walk into its lair and be devoured.

The name is a combination of a mythical creature and color, so I ran with it. Probably won't be the final entry. Also, first time contributing to a CAP post, so any feedback at all would help.

Final Submission

Chromera,
the Masterpiece Pokémon

Sword: Chromera guard the gates of museums and galleries around Galar, protecting the artwork from thieves.

Shield: When it wins a battle it paints a scene to mark the victory, murals around Galar show their momentous fights.

WIP

Chromera
, the Artisan Pokémon

Sword: It can secrete a specialized color-changing paint from its mane and tail. The paint is extremely beautiful, but anyone who uses it will become extremely ill.

Shield: Legends say that Chromera taught humans how to make art. By covering itself in its own paint, it can blend in perfectly with its surroundings.

Sword entry references how back in ye old days, paint contained toxic metals like arsenic that would slowly and painfully kill artists. Its Shield entry gives it some Mythical flavoring and explains how it uses Color Change.

WIP

Chromera
, the Muse Pokémon

Sword: Legends speak of countless artworks that were produced in tribute to this Pokémon, but all of them were rejected by Chromera due to its finicky nature.

Shield: Supposedly, a bitter feud between artisanal guilds was fought over several generations, because nobody could agree on the color to portray this Pokémon in.
