CAP 3 CAP 3 - Part 5 (Build)

To be honest, I don't particularly care which side of the spectrum it attacks offensively or which side of the spectrum it is more defensive.

I just want to make sure this thing has high HP, like 110 or higher lol.

I'd also hope that people vote the lower speeds so we have some justification to give it Chlorophyll.

Still, just in pure creativity terms...a special attacking Fire is boring, just throwing that out there. Especially if it is somewhat bulky (Heatran-minus, anyone?)

Can someone explain to me why people are voting for fast when it's just gonna mean we end up with yet another fast and powerful fire sweeper, which is so fragile that it cannot sweep anyway.

If you want a fast sweeper vote slow then you can have clorophyll, this way we have a pokemon that can function as a fast sweeper, and actually work defensively as well.

Personally, I want to see something other than Chlorophyll on this thing anyway. Part of the fun of CAP is making stuff that's different, and I'm thinking it'd be nice if it got a brand-new Sunny Day ability rather than just Chlorophyll.

Anyway, it's not guaranteed that it'll get Chlorophyll even if its speed is just Medium.

Right does anyone have any objections to me posting a running total of votes cast so far?
Personally I have no objections, though giving them to the Topic Leader via PM seem better to me ;p

DK you said something about it in the other thread, but this is not an ordered voteing thingy so people cant counter vote like in that other thread thread (Revenankh BSS for those who dont know).
Well...you can counter-vote on just about any kind of poll really, the only different is preferancial voting seems way easier to do it.

To everybody that are complaining, the pokemon will be balanced independiently of the result of the poll, the only stat that could be affected negatively is speed, but it looks like the pokemon will get clorohpyl anyways.
we wont get a frail sweeper by any means, ok?

Offense: Physical (not many viable physical guys for Fire in OU)
Defense: MIXED (High HP is important)
Speed: FAST (but the low end of fast like 90 or 95)

I can see all of these in his Movepool:

Flare Blitz and Wood Hammer
Overheat and Leaf Storm
Seed Bomb, Leaf Blade, Flame Wheel (new move Fire Whip= seed bomb as fire)
Solarbeam and FireBlast and Flamethrower

i think this could be really cool as he could run a neat HP/LS/Overheat/SolarBeam Choice Specs set as well as having some pretty good physical options, SubSeed, and support.

In the end, all I really would like on this guy is a usable (90 or 100) Special Attack stat and DROUGHT. Even if we give him another option, I would really like to see Drought. Our new metagame should have more auto-weather changers anyways.

so you want something that has

100+ hp
130+att
90-100 special att
90-95 speed
and balanced defences

with or without drought thats probably uber.

Offensive: Physical
Defensive: Mixed
Speed: Medium

Offensive for the excellent STABs given with this type combo, defensive to make it all around bulky, and Speed to maybe make use of Chlorophyll.

Didn't I mention something about how the speed will affect if it gets chlorophyll. I'm aware a pokemon with like 110 speed and Chlorophyll would be broken so if get speed like that, it won't be getting said ability.

What is broken about a Pokemon with a lot of speed getting more speed with an ability on its own? Case in point: Ninjask the broken Pokemon. More Speed means less other stats. If anything, once a Pokemon with Chlorophyll has enough speed to outspeed Scarfcross in the sun and then a little bit more, it gets more merit out of increasing its other stats than increasing its Speed even more.

You do have a good point and I honestly have to say I jumped the gun when it came with my decision with Chlorophyll on the idea it would get like 120 speed and like 135 sp.atk, 100+ defenses, and etc. Maybe having a naturally fast Chlorophyll would be okay.

but a waste of time because it ends up not having the defenses to set up or not having enough offence to sweep anyway. It will be another shiftry.

Physical
Mixed
Fast
(er than Roserade)

its gonna go to special for the offenses, and thats upsetting to me. i really do think that a physical attacker would be more interesting, ESPECIALLY since those stabs are primarily special. plus, making the poke physical gives more other type attack options overall. plus, things like blaze kick and leaf blade make for really attractive attacking options.

...give physical a chance guys!!

Sooo...you basically want Typhlosion, just a teenie bit more bulky and a wee bit less speedy?

Kinda...boring...

I say

Physical:Mixed
Special: Mixed
Speed: Slow

I'll repost with reasoning later, we're looking at a spread like 110/90/110/90/110/40.

Personally I want something that doesn't have chlorophyll, (which in retrospect was probably the reason I voted for it to not be an evolution, because it was just going to be a high powered chlorophyll dude). If it gets bonuses in the sun, that would be great because this pokemon will get STAB on the two moves (fire move and solarbeam) that are given bonuses in sunlight. That would also make something like Solar Power be a great ability (adding 50% SAtk in sunlight).

so unless this thing has some really high bst, its either not gonna be bulky enough to take a hit, or not offensive enough to do any damage.

Excuse me Gothic_Togekiss, I have clearly outlined why I wanted what I wanted.

Also, lmao, beefed up Blaziken? Haha, I'd expect the Topic Leader of the CaP Project to have a wee bit more knowledge of basic EV Spreads.

80 / 120 / 70 / 110 / 70 / 80 is Blaziken's Spread.

I have clearly stated that I wanted +110 Base HP...that's a little more than Beefed up. I have clearly stated I wanted high defenses, 70 70 is barely below average, beefing those up would mean 85 / 85, which isn't high defenses. I have also clearly stated that I wanted one attacking stat to emphasize the other, and be lower than the defensive stats. The Speed is wrong as well, since I wanted something lower than Blaziken's 80 base speed.

Lol, give me a break. You wanted a Typhlosion, that much is obvious from your spread. But I want a beefed up Blaziken? Please, there is absolutely no way that that makes any sense from what I have already said.

I have even provided empirical evidence as to why my preferences have made sense...while you arbitrarily chose something excessively close to another Pokemon.

Next time you try and call me out, at least have some basis for your claim, lol.
