You have roughly one week (give or take) to make your final submissions!

Rules for two-stage submissions:
  • You can make final submissions for either stage or for both stages.
  • You have three WIPs per stage.
  • If you make final submissions for both stages, use the final submission template twice, once for stage 1 and once for stage 2. Do not include the "Final Submission" header twice. Do not include any additional text between your stage 1 and stage 2 submissions.
  • Final submission entries for stage 1 will be polled first, followed by final submission entries for stage 2.
Chuggalong Pokedex entries for reference:
Chuggalong, the Dracomotive Pokémon

Scarlet: Chuggalong are quite friendly despite their fearsome appearance. This Pokémon happily arcs through the sky, loudly parading with a powerful roar.

Violet: Chuggalong were essential during early civilization. Along with their sheer strength, they could easily absorb toxic chemicals from important minerals.

Legal Pokedex submissions must meet the following standards
  • Species Names cannot be over 13 characters.
  • Pokedex entries submitted must have flawless grammar. The CAP mod team will make an effort to correct all issues that are unambiguous when the thread is closed, but you should not rely on this.
  • Pokedex Entries cannot be longer than 30 words and cannot be over 153 characters (this includes spaces and punctuation).
  • Pokedex Entries can only contain the following characters:
    • Letters A-Z
    • Numbers 0-9
    • Dash (-)
    • Apostrophe (')
    • Double quote (")
    • Period (.)
    • Exclamation point (!)
    • Comma (,)
    • Colon (:)
    • Semi-colon (;)
    • Space
Work In Progress (WIP) Pokedex Entries can be posted at any time for comments from the community.

No more than three WIP Pokedex Entries can be posted by any individual person through the entire course of the submission thread. This limit applies to ALL posts made by a single person, even if previous posts are edited or deleted. This limit is intended to curb the tendency for some submitters to spam the thread repeatedly with multiple Pokedex Entries. This detracts from other submissions and makes it difficult for commenters to survey the submission thread.

Do not bump your WIP Pokedex Entries by posting them repeatedly, or making minor wording changes. Bumping will result in the disqualification of all Pokedex Entries by the offender. Editing or deleting bump posts will not prevent disqualification.

Only ONE Final Submission can be made per person.

Pokedex entries Final Submissions must posted exactly in the following format and in the following exact order:
  • The first line of the post must have the words "Final Submission" in bold on its own line. No other text may be included before the bold heading.
  • A blank line
  • "<Pokémon Name>, the <Species Name> Pokémon", with the Pokemon name and the Species Name in bold
  • A blank line
  • The Scarlet Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Scarlet" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
  • A blank line
  • The Violet Pokedex Entry submission. Start with the letters "Violet" in bold, then a colon (:), and then the Pokedex entry.
Below the Final Submission you can post other comments, explanations, etc.

Example final submission:
Final Submission

Dragapult
, the Stealth Pokémon

Scarlet: Dragapult can make its whole body transparent by clearing its mind and focusing. Even the Dreepy in Dragapult’s horns become invisible.

Violet: The fastest Dragapult of the group is always surrounded by Dreepy that want to fly at sonic speed.

Any Final Submission that does not follow the proper format will be disqualified.

Final Submission

Chuggon
, the Smokebox Pokémon

Scarlet: Chuggon move together in single file, driving predators away with their collective fumes. Their appetite for ores can be a problem for mining operations.

Violet: Until they can metabolize toxic minerals and start spouting smog, young Chuggon will cling onto the backs of Chuggalong for protection.

Draggalong, the Long Haul Pokémon

Scarlet: This hotheaded Pokémon charges at anything that draws its ire. It quickly loses steam however, leaving itself vulnerable in the heat of battle.

Violet: It clashes with Gabite over ore deposits, using its Poison Tail to attack. If Draggalong is losing, it discards its tail to cover its tracks as it bails.

Chuggon
, the Boxcar Turtle Pokémon

Scarlet: It was trafficked long ago from a distant land in the east of Paldea. Stew made with this Pokémon's flesh was once prized as a royal delicacy.

Violet: Chuggon's armor-like shell is coated with toxic minerals as a result of its diet. It expels Poison Gas from its carapace to deter persistent predators.

Draggalong, the Freight Drake Pokémon

Scarlet: Even the faintest irritant will provoke this Pokémon into violence. It may be related to Revavroom, but the two will compete cacophonously over minerals.

Violet: Draggalong adores the taste of coal, so it pursues prey like Rolycoly and Carkol at speeds exceeding 60 mph, immobilising them with its Dragon Breath.

Chuggon's Scarlet dex first references the plight of Asian box turtles, which are the most heavily trafficked turtles in the world, captured and sold as food to China and as pets to the United States. The specific phrasing of its origins is taken from :Copperajah:'s dex entries alongside Raifort's description of the Treasures of Ruin's native region. The latter part instead references turtle soup, in a similar vein to how :Wattrel:'s Violet dex incorporates swallow nests despite it not being a swiftlet, with a bonus fact that improperly prepared turtle soup (admittedly made from marine turtles instead) can lead to a rare but lethally incurable form of food poisoning known as Chelonitoxism. There is also a lucky coincidence that turtle soup inspired the creation of mock turtle soup, which is made from the brains and organs of cow calves... say, what is the Shox line based on again?

Chuggon's Violet dex is inspired by :Shelgon:, a fellow Dragon-type with a similar shell-like appearance which also hints at Shell Armor (I'm also certain Shelgon is why they changed :Goodra-Hisui:'s Ability from Overcoat to Shell Armor), and :Turtonator:, who it also share design inspirations from the Dragon Turtle; Chuggalong's Violet dex also mentions it consumes (or at the very least absorbs, which has been interpreted for consumption for other Pokemon) toxic materials, so there's continuity within dex entries, which considering the naming scheme feels appropriate. And of course, there are species of turtles, such as the stinkpot turtle, capable of releasing foul-smelling chemicals from musk glands.

Draggalong's Scarlet dex starts with the typical 'enraged dragon' description. The rivalry with :Revavroom: is an orphaned reference back when I theorised that Chuggon could be the unknown Poison-type that became :Varoom:, while Chuggon's movepool also takes notes from Revavroom. As a bonus fun fact, the Oblong Turtle is one of the few turtles who are acknowledged to not be mute, and among their vocalisations do include sounds described as clicks, clacks and blow bursts, just like a train, and alludes to their eventual noise motif as Chuggalong. The wording is utilised from :Sizzlipede:'s own relation and rivalry with :Venipede: as listed in the latter's Sword entry.

Draggalong's Violet dex parallels :Metang:'s predation of :Nosepass: as listed in the former's Moon and Violet entry. The reason why I chose :Rolycoly: and :Carkol: should be obvious.

 Chuggon
, the Smokestack Pokémon

Scarlet:
It stores excess smoke in a special organ inside its shell. If flipped over, it releases the smoke in a small explosion to right itself back up.

Violet: Its shell is almost impervious to physical attacks, so it has no natural predators. Chuggon's easygoing nature and goofy face make it popular with children.

Draggalong, the Caboose Pokémon

Scarlet:
It scares intruders away by rubbing its chain-like tail on rocks to create grating sounds. Draggalong and Hakamo-o often compete over territory.

Violet: In the past, it was used by miners to sniff out coal. This practice was phased out due to health risks from inhaling its smoke.

Chuggon Scarlet dex entry: references turtles having the ability to flip themselves over if they get stuck on their backs

Chuggon Violet dex entry: references Shell Armor, Chuggon's dopey expression, and trains being popular with kids

Draggalong Scarlet dex entry: alludes to the sound theming that it'll eventually gain as Chuggalong, specifically chose Hakamo-o as a rival as a cheeky nod to Chuggalong basically stealing both of Kommo-o's signature moves

Draggalong Violet dex entry: joining the trend of coal being mentioned in these dex entries, combining Draggalong's Poison typing with the lung diseases often found in coal miners

Chuggon, the Living Wagon Pokémon

Scarlet:
It secretes a special gas from the anthracite it eats that slows down aging. Research suggests it could even give life to objects such as rolling stock.

Violet: Herds of sooty Chuggon have been seen marching in line, rattling like a goods train, spawning many beliefs relating to sentience in locomotives.

Draggalong, the Traction Pokémon

Scarlet:
These eager Pokémon were often used on smaller, "narrow-gauge" railways, easing the burden on the locomotives by sorting their wagons and coaches.

Violet: Draggalong come from an island west of Wedgehurst famous for its railway culture. Only the Draggalong that have learned to digest petrol can evolve.

Justification :

Most of these are heavily Thomas the Tank Engine inspired; apart from the obvious "the engines are alive" motif in Chuggon's dex entries, Draggalong also references the uses of horse driven carts on smaller railways before being replaced by stronger narrow gauge locomotives, as well as the concept of a "station pilot" or "shunter/switcher", smaller locomotives that were designed to help sort out wagons in large yards, reassembling and dissasembling trains for other locomotives. The last dex entry plays on Wedgehurt being based on the town of Bowness-on-Windermere in Cumbria, as the Island of Sodor is located directly next to Cumbria, the nearest town being located in Barow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

Chuggon, the Dracorigin Pokémon

Scarlet:
This Pokémon is incredibly slow, making its journey to the mountains arduous; however, they assemble into a long line full of Chuggon to be less lonely.

Violet: Every 100 years, Chuggalong is reborn as a Chuggon. This cycle of rebirth has led to Chuggon becoming a spiritual symbol of renewal and innocence.

Draggalong, the Dracoutflow Pokémon

Scarlet:
Not yet able to fly, Draggalong run around in mountainous regions. By trekking the bumpy terrain, they learn to resist powerful winds.

Violet: Draggalong use their teeth to break open rocks and eat their contents. Evidence suggests that humans used the leftovers of the meal to create tools.

Chuggon,
the Dwagon Pokémon

Scarlet: Chuggon can latch onto the backs of Draggalong and Chuggalong like train cars. They form long, moving lines as they travel together in groups.

Violet: Chuggon’s tiny poisonous fangs latch on with incredible force. It bites down so hard that it can snap small iron chains.

Draggalong, the Speed Haul Pokémon

Scarlet: Draggalong has a notoriously short temper. When enraged, it spews toxic fumes so potent that small Pokémon caught in the cloud rarely survive.

Violet: With unmatched speed, Draggalong zooms across the skies, leaving a blur in its wake. However, its light frame lacks the strength to withstand heavy hits.

Chuggon,
the Box Shell Pokémon

Scarlet: This sluggish Pokémon spends half of its day sleeping and the other half eating pollutants. It's a useful partner for sanitation workers.

Violet: When groups of Chuggon form, they instinctively arrange themselves in a single-file line. The reason for this behavior is unknown.

Draggalong, the Smokestack Pokémon

Scarlet: An irritable Pokémon, Draggalong constantly asserts its personal space, flailing its tail at whatever dares to draw near.

Violet: Toxic fumes billow from its head when it's enraged. Managing this Pokémon's temper is essential for any prospective trainer.
