CAP 7 CAP 7 - Part 11 - Attacking Moves Discussion

Brave Bird is not a bad move. The high BP is offset by the recoil; fine by me!

I think that recoil is actually a bad thing for a poke that wants to switch in alot. Plus the fact that it hits Pyroak - one of the main counters mentioned in the counters thread, and Argho, a bulky water, also mentioned in the counters thread. Preserve Pyroak as the only Fire type to not have a Ground weakness in OU. Let it be the main counter to Something!

Pyroak is quite hard to fit on a team, and since there are other things that can deal with this CAP, I don't think people will go out of their way to put Pyroak on their team, especially with Tyranitar and Stealth Rock running rampant. As for Arghonaut, you can still come in on a fighting attack and beat it down.

Those reasons don't change the fact that Pyroak was Supposed to be a counter and Argho is a bulky water which were also supposed to be counters too. That's why physical grass And electric moves are banned.

If we're not going to use the counters discussion thread as a guideline for movepool, what frakking purpose does it serve? None I tell thee. It's not like Brave Bird is important in any way.

Well then by your logic I could just as easily slip it in as non competitive if it isn't important. Pyroak still gets hit hard by Earthquake if it tries to switch in, especially with Stealth Rock.

You didn't come up with Steel Crush Claw, its been discussed in the thread for a while now.

I meant the name of the move, not the idea.

The BP of Crush Claw is 75, but I'd prefer the BP to be bumped up to 80 or so, so it's a bit more of a decent move if it doesn't get the defense drop.

I was thinking about almost the same thing, just increasing the power to 85 at max. 90 would be too high for CAP7, and turn it into more sweeperish.

EQ won't do any more than Shadow Claw as it's neutral so Pyroak remains CAP7's best counter if it doesn't get Brave Bird. I ask Again, what's the counters discussion for if it doesn't influence movepool?

I never said it wasn't competitive.
The fact that I'm arguing that it helps it beat its counters suggests I feel quite the opposite! So I don't know where you got that from.

Anyway Mag said he'd add BB to controversial so there's no point continuing this.
