CAP 9 CAP 9 - Name Submissions

Status
Not open for further replies.
Dhrailbit

Combines Drill Bit + Whale.

Pronouced: Rhymes with Trail and add bit, add a little emphasis on the "H".

Suggestions on how to improve.

Undrale, because I suck at thinking names up and for me it's an underground drill whale.
Not being able to fit darkness somewhere makes me sad, but Undrale sound good already. I guess.

Final Submission

Modoceras (pronounced "modo-seras")

'Modoceras' is the combination of Odontreti and Monoceras. Odontreti, as stated before, is the Narwhal's suborder. It means "the toothed whales". Monoceras is the second part of the Narwhal's scientific name (the whole is Monodon monoceras). Monoceras means "one-horn" (the whole is "one-tooth one-horn").

Okay i'm down to 3 names for my final submission.
So i'll try to make them look real to see which is the nicest to submit.

Name: Blubbore
Blubber + Bore/Boor
Pre-evo: Digbit
Ability: Blubber Coat
Guts

Name: Seismorgue
Seismic + Morgue
Pre-evo: Seismole
Ability: Reverbrate (Using seismic waves to knock back status when it enters battle)
Guts

Name: Burrogue
Burrow + Rogue
Pre-evo: Burrone
Ability: Reverbrate
Guts

Personally i like Seismorgue, it's realistic to call out as a Pokemon ; Imagine Ash going "Go! Seismorgue!!" and it is easy on the lips and i like the ability i made to replace AMC.

These are my last few choices so please give me some feedback to help me decide.
Thanks.

If nobody came up with this yet...

Final Submission

Narland

Narwhal's "Nar"

Land because it's on the land

The Narwhal that lives on the land is called a Narland.

IMO the name sounds a bit bulky to me like the pokemon.

@Sock Monster: Is your "Reverberation"(I spelled it correctly for you) your name for auto-magic coat?

EDIT: nvm, didn't read that extra line in your post

Final Submission

Undermine

It's a drill Pokemon, so it's associated with mining and drilling into the ground. It also prevents secondary moves from being used, so it undermines them. The name also fits its dark characteristics.

To me, this is by far the best suggested name as it is more than just a corruption of narwhal

I'd hardly call it apt for a Pokemon name. Though there are a few English words that are Pokemon names as well, I don't think a verb like undermine would be a good Pokemon name. Would make for a great name for an Ability, though.

alright you guys have till evening, 6:00 EST to get your final submissions in! Hurry up!

Final Submission

Name: Seismorgue
Seismic + Morgue
Pre-evo: Seismole
Ability: Reverberation (Using seismic waves to knock back status when it enters battle) [Thanks Tyranitarzone for helping me spell it right]
Guts

The other info is redundant but it helps to give insight into what the pokemon would look like if it is implemented.

Final Submission:

Drillown
Drill+drown
Pronounced:Drill-own(like in drown)
I thought it sounds cool as a pokemon name. This is kind of copying Sock Monster, but it sounds cool if someone said, "Go, Drillown!"

Alright, I'm just posting these three (seen as I can't decide) to see what sort of feedback I get. I'll submit the final one in an hour or so. Can I have your opinions?

1.Narwhale
Abbreviation of: Narwhal/Whale
Reasoning: Well, it's sort of...a whale and a narwhal, so yeah. Not clever Latin here. Just a good, pokemon-sounding name :naughty:

2.Darkhaki
Abbreviation of: Dark/Khaki (camouflage colour)
Reasoning: Dark is obviously referring to the typing, and Khaki refers to the camouflage-like patterns covering the main body.

3.Terrar
Abbreviation of: Terra (earth/land)/Terror
Reasoning: Terra refers to the ground typing, whilst Terror refers to the dark - and the artwork is quite fearsome in appearance. The two words fuse nicely.

Staraptor Call's Undermine is definitely the best. Like Stratagem, it's a word of its own, sounds good and fits the pokemon, and isn't just a deviation of narwhal or drill.

PS: Are we gonna have a "Pokédex Entries" submission? Sounds like fun to me

Final Submission:

Dhrailbit

Drill Bit + Whale.

Pronouced: Rhymes with Trail and add bit, add a little emphasis on the "H".

Reasoning: Drill bit is a tool to use on a drill and it's a whale.

FINAL SUBMISSION

Whalletus

Reasoning and suchlike from the previous page:

How about the name Whalletus? The first half of the name ("Whal") obviously refers to our narwhal here while the second part ("lletus") is an anagram of the word Tellus, a Roman word meaning Earth. This refers to the Ground typing of CAP9 as well as to its Dark typing (Tellus --> Terra --> sub-terranean --> a dark place). So, "A Narwhal of the Earth", basically!

Other than that, I feel the name goes easy on the mouth and is fitting for CAP9. All suggestions are welcome.

*hopes that the name is chosen*

Final Submission: Scarwal

Scarwal is obviously a fusion of Scar and Narwhal. With CAP9's misson being to stop the secondary, he will also be "Scarring Walls", which adds a little more depth to the name.

My Final Submission:

quoting my last post here

Kujorlas (ku-djor-las)
(like in the word "job")

Kuro (means Dark in Japanese) - Jord (means Earth in Norwegian) - Valas (means Whale in Finnish)

Also, Kujo- sounds similar to "good job!" or "G'job", which refers to the fact that he stops the secondary, and does a good job at it.
