Pronunciation: MARL-vil

A corruption of the cliche "thar she blows!" phrase.

Pronunciation: DAR-shee

Chertacean

Chert (a type of quartz which can be found in sand) + Cetacean (the scientific designation for whales, dolphins, and porpoises)

Dwarf + Whale

Fun fact, there is a whale called the dwarf whale, extra points for me :)

Pronunciation: buh-LOW-hole

Below (as in below the ground) + blowhole + hole, as in the hole it's in.

Was also considering the spelling as Bullowhole, which would also take a cue from burrow, but that doesn't look as nice visually imo.

Below + beluga. Couldn't decide which of these two I preferred.

Not quite an orca, but it's not too far off.

Its name is a combination between "cache" (considering it is "hiding" in sand), "cachalot" (another name for sperm whales, the animal this Pokemon tends to be inspired by) and "a lot" (since it's a large mammal)

- normal: "cash-ah-lot"
