i really enjoyed playing/building nd cap although the burnout definitely affected me towards the end between this and other nd tours. Kitsunoh is stupid broken w/ z-moves

Thanks to Earthflax & SHSP for being good managers and seth for going 1-3. Also special shoutout to Brigtel whos been my teammate in the only two cap tours ive played for being the most insane prepper ever, made me feel bad about my 10 minute builds :blobpex: ggs every1 else on the team

let's get this clotdog twang albert moving

:Ogerpon-Wellspring::Landorus-Therian::Iron Crown::Great Tusk::Iron Moth::Zapdos: w1 vs haxlolo L
i was trying to get back into the groove of playing after a while away and tested this team on ou ladder a bunch, it felt pretty decent except i lost every game i played vs webs and then fatefully loaded into webs vs lolo and got farmed, excellent start to the tour

:Darkrai::Zamazenta::Chuggalong::Ting-Lu::Caribolt::Gholdengo: w2 vs kate W
fun HO team with a bunch of techs, most of which actually landed, love it when that happens. i was coming off of a loss about to face someone who i rate very high as a player, and i was not totally confident in my ability to win a longer drawn out game if i brought some sort of honest balance team. i knew i wanted a more offensive load this week so this is what i landed on after a lot of trial and error. building offense in this tier is very hard and i think needs to rely a bit on surprise factor in order to break past the insane HO killers that otherwise just shut you down

:Equilibra::Landorus-Therian::Ogerpon-Wellspring::Zamazenta::Kyurem::Hemogoblin: w3 vs fragments W
i remember just wanting something that was solid into offense/bo since that was the majority of frag's scout, but he pulled up with stall wtf who would've guessed. i was feeling lazy this week and considered just reusing an old cappl team, or a team i built but didn't bring vs blades in circuit champs, ultimately tho i ran with this fun double ground bo that had been sitting in my builder half completed for weeks. red card libra + hemo + zama give you decent odds into most offense and woger + mixed kyu + hwish support murder anything fat. somehow almost binned this game but we wont talk about that

:Lokix::Krilowatt::Gliscor::Tinkaton::Moltres::Zamazenta: w4 vs mashing W
atp my only loss was to HO and my opp's only win was from HO so i had a gut feeling i was gonna get HO'd... this was perfect because i had been wanting to use lokix for the past week or two and that guy is super hateful towards most offense. the pivot core w kril/lokix/glisc is awkward for a lot of fatter teams to handle so the team felt like it had a consistent enough matchup spread for me to run with

:Gliscor::Snaelstrom::Great Tusk::Garganacl::Kitsunoh::Moltres: w5 vs tempo W
i had gone all tour without using the best wincon in the tier (sd glisc) and arguably the best mon in the tier (kit) so it was prime time to load some brokens. double pheal stuff looked super evil to me and after a lot of experimenting w different structures i settled on this 6 as my favorite. some offensive waters are a bit scary but otherwise i was really happy with how this build turned out, and the match confirmed my suspicions that everyone should just load sd gliscor every game because it's broken as shit why wouldn't you spam tf out of it

misc thoughts:
- np venom can slot other moves like dark pulse/sball > bpress to fix inconsistency issues vs anything you need cane to hit (kitsunoh/gliscor/gking/really any ghost or flying) and means you dont lose to a million things if you ever get burned and bpress tanks in damage
- tera elec wild charge is the best set on zama
- lum is the best item on cari, prob with a defensive tera
- specs pult is underrated
- cresc should be nerfed; having access to both twave and encore singlehandedly shuts down so many offense builds
- kyurem woger gliscor are all broken, please hurry up and ban something @OU
- has anyone loaded sun this tour? i genuinely cant remember. wtf happened to that playstyle. why is mala still A-
- no one in this community besides mada ever loads stall but its actually a solid playstyle, fsr just slept on
- people should experiment more with necturna, it can run like 20 million sets and it feels like no one is taking advantage of it, i only ever see victory dance or salt cure. run court change or shackle or espeed or glacial lance or thunder cage or anything else fun
- rank latios and lokix

What happened to sun was Gouging Fire got banned.

Time to wait for the next time Buns loads Necturna.

incredibly fun tour with the gang, shox were an awesome team. definitely take a lot of blame for the last few weeks of falling short, always more I could do as a manager and it sucks I cost them a chance to show off a bit. In any event, here's some teams-

:samurott-hisui: :landorus-therian: :hemogoblin: :kitsunoh: :slowking-galar: :hydrapple:
Built these guys for playtest, wanted to rock with samu+ghost, kit ended up being broken over pecha (this becomes a theme)
:primarina: :iron-crown: :samurott-hisui: :great-tusk: :zapdos: :kitsunoh:
little throwback to older builds I loved where you spam pivots and stuff. prima I think is mad underrated, even if it can be hard to fit on a 6 sometimes
:deoxys-speed: :gliscor: :cresceidon: :revenankh: :mollux: :lokix:
Lokix is so broken that it makes up for me building rev w/3 knock mons! still a deo-s fan asw
:dragonite: :ting-lu: :ogerpon-wellspring: :iron-valiant: :kyurem: :equilibra:
really, really didn't wanna lose to offense here lol. hwish libra offenses are insanely fun to click with
:malaconda: :walking-wake: :raging-bolt: :great-tusk: :iron-moth: :revenankh:
spoo here's the sun- didn't load it vs anyone in CAPCL but it won in playtest at least? I think if you're gonna sun rn its cause you can abuse something like moth again, super fishy tho
:chuggalong: :equilibra: :samurott-hisui: :dragapult: :gliscor: :pyroak:
saw DPM's train answers were crown and heatran, got inspired by big poopidoopi and built this. there's a version w/valiant over roak but it tested worse
:ogerpon-wellspring: :ting-lu: :venomicon: :equilibra: :dragapult: :iron-valiant:
pivot oger is fun, ting is still crazy
:roaring-moon: :iron-valiant: :samurott-hisui: :pecharunt: :darkrai: :caribolt:
one of my fav teams I've built in SV, honestly. loaded WOAT mu vs Joeshh but its just incredibly fun
Earthflax - was amazing co-managing with you chief, you're a hell of a hard worker when your actual irl work isn't screwing you (or when you're not stuck in traffic i s2g you're the least lucky person on the road). You're the bomb and you're doing amazing stuff brother.

sealoo - ND goat, you make me smile w/pretty much every single interaction we have and I think you rock. just watch out for more interactions with Pokerich Don again...

Brigtel - somehow we've never teamed before this, but it was a blast and a half. you're an amazing player and better in prep, too, which helps hugely when I'm pretty hopeless w/o team preview right now. Super great having you on the team and I can't thank you enough

Kinzo - ty again for stepping up w/the sub situation in w4. always great interacting with you, you're a funny guy even if you're perma flamed by the nd channel

seth - definitely a blast getting to team with you, apologies for not helping as much as I probably should have. Think you're a topflight player and the nickname GOAT as well. still can't get "founding gooner" out of my memory, hard as I try

Tempo di anguria - bailing on w1 for a date is the funniest shit i've ever had happen to me dude i fucking can't. we sold you in prep twice too that's crazy, my bad on those. you're a gem, good luck with the paldean fates pulls o7

feen - you had the hardest job on the team as I entirely forgot how to build SS and despite that you still played really well even in games that didn't go your way. you rock, you're mad good and you're super cool when we got to chat

Ineros - thank you for carrying my ass in NDBD btw LOL. your individual win definitely shows that you are a better player than sometimes you believe you are, keep your head up and keep on, you're gonna be even more kickass very shortly

a fruitshop owner - testing ORAS with you was some of the most fun I've had in a team tour in a long while, you're crazy good both in the builder and in game. super super glad you were part of the team and you got to cook with some really fun CAPs

poopidoopii - record didn't go your way but I still think you're a super creative, super fire player and builder. also I swear to god I gotta get a collection of your quotes from this season dude they crack me up. loved teaming with you

Nashrock - you're insanely good at this game, genuinely. loved being able to team with you and loved the energy you brought as well.

ILSB - didn't get too much of a chance to talk but from what we did interact I think you're a real cool dude, sorry we couldn't get you more run overall

Joeshh - thanks for being a goated helper, gl in finals bossman ik you'll kick ass

misc thoughts like spoo's will probably come in meta thread at some point soon

I'm probably too lazy to prep for seasonal so I'll just put my teams here. It's my first time playing a CAP team tour and I found myself enjoying this meta way more than I expected. I'm sorry that I didn't have more energy to help preps in other slots. Hopefully I get another chance to play CAP. Thank you SHSP and Earthflax for drafting me. Thank you sealoo seth for contributing nothing (jk i love yall)

Week 1 vs Ming549 (W)
:Meowscarada::Mollux::Gliscor::Kitsunoh::Cresceidon::Garganacl:
I was busy traveling that week but ended up playing anyway by subbing tempo. Kitsu really had a show of good uses of trace.

Week 3 vs Quinn (W)
:Dragonite::Ogerpon::Ting-Lu::Clefable::Venomicon::Dragapult:
I was expecting cheese/offense coming so I started with encore dtail dnite, but I figured grasspon had huge potential into these and changed dnite back to DD.

Week 4 vs Lily (L)
:Slowking-Galar::Arghonaut::Equilibra::Gliscor::Chuggalong::Garganacl:
It was Mada's 6 with scarf chugg over zama, but I really liked the idea of fast special scarfer. I probably underestimated zama in builder but the freeze on gking was kinda tough to play around.

Week 5 vs Mada (W)
:Cresceidon::Gliscor::Ting-Lu::Pecharunt::Mollux::Hemogoblin:
As you can see the name, it was supposed to be a sub cm prim + sd gliscor team to target mada's fat, and goblin there as an emergency option for offense. However, after testing, I realized that prim was useless and cresc was better defensively.

Other Slot:
Week 2 Ineros vs vs Scizivire (W) unironically the only team I helped built since I didn't play this week.
:arghonaut: :weavile: :slowking-galar: :equilibra: :Clefable: :dragapult:

these teams are NOT good, i put minimal effort into prep and also cold turkey'd my meds is December so I played this entire tour with a barely functional brain, but I like sm cap (even though I didn't wanna play it this tour..) and its kinda tradition for me to post my teams so, fuck it.

:skarmory: :tapu-lele: :jellicent: :equilibra: :chansey: :latios-mega:

Clem is an offense merchant so I wanted smthng good into offense, he is also a big cteam/prepper afaik so I wanted to stray away from my usual kinda builds (in my head that accounts to kart/lele type offenses and baopex kinda bo / fatter stuff). Now, before I get into the team, I shall address elephant in the room:
1739437546555.png

Yes I'm just running spikestack + 5 mons that lose to libra + jellicent IM SHAMELESS LIKE THAT. Honestly though anything with scald is broken as fuck and guaranteed to get some value vs a guy like clem, weather its dealing with pert in rain or dissuading shit like Mage, Mpins or Necturna from setting up, this mon is fire as fuck. rest of the team is just obscenely standard and very greedy bc jellicent lets me get away with shit like double psychic and water resist chansey.

:charizard-mega-x: :equilibra: :toxapex: :chansey: :slowbro: :weavile:

Lasen is perma stuck in 2018 with his teamchoices so I wanted to load zardx+tspike to beat the reunitar w/ argh or gallade bullshit I was gonna face. honestly on paper this is cool and I tested it somewhat thoroughly but I just never tested it against opposing double water fat and kinda lost on preview lmfao, never underestimate your opponents kiddos. L aside this team is very cool and I fw it heavy even tho its kinda ass

:alakazam-mega: :arghonaut: :chansey: :toxapex: :equilibra: :kitsunoh:

>be me
>run kitsunoh on a fat team
>run max speed
>drop your speed from 350 to 349 because kits doesn't need to outspeed anything faster than a kartana
>mfw load into mgallade

MimiStar is sm1 I've talked to a lot abt mons and I like to think I've got a pretty good mental image of what he likes to load, whatever the fuck he wants as long as it is offensive enough, This is just another shameless fat with a bunch of status and unaware and fast mons that probably could've won if I didn't play so sloppily

:lopunny-mega: :toxapex: :landorus-therian: :celesteela: :garchomp: :weavile:

LBN (billy) (not actually his name fuk u SparksBlade) is a massive offense fiend and will run the most random shit, especially if RFN'D. I, as such, RFN'd him at 3:50am on a Monday night because I wanted to get this game over with so I could focus on genshin impact. This is just some slop I had in my builder (built for clem iirc) that matches up well into offense, adamant mlop because I fucking love greeding like that, mental herb tspike pex to deal with clems silly aah taunt mons and gain an instant advantage against offense, with steela to round out the defensive core and a bunch of heavy hitters like lando, chomp and weav to put the pressure on fools. honestly a p cool team

:jumbao: :greninja-ash: :zapdos: :pajantom: :tyranitar-mega: :equilibra:

this is just a team i built for a cappl ages ago, 2022 I wanna say? but never got around to using. Basic idea is that bao + gren overwhelm alot of shared checks though spikes and repeated hits, and then i just have a bunch of defensive goons to further annoy stuff like chans and whatnot. Pajantom is my goat and i will take any excuse possible to run this mon. anyways we were out by this point so i just loaded this fun team that never got the chance to shine

s/o mada spoo spammer for being da GOATS s/o vuldark for being a very promising yung lad s/o shsp for being test game merchant

decided to team dump stuff from capcl + my finals playtest run, I appreciate when ppl do team dumps as I find it really helpful to find certain sets/builds so because I built a lot I thought I'd contribute. It was a fun experience getting into CAP and I look forward to playing more in the future.

W2 vs Sificon (W)
:dragonite: :slowking-galar: :cresceidon: :moltres: :gliscor: :darkrai:
I decided on a boots spam team with dragonite and darkrai as threatening wincons that run boots, and also could do very well into any weather/HO i was expecting from Sifi. overall, this is probably my favourite team from the tour. Darkrai and gliscor are extremely broken and dragonite is also IMO a really solid option recently.

W3 vs LUSTRE (W)
:ribombee: :gholdengo: :ogerpon_wellspring: :darkrai: :raging_bolt: :iron_moth:
I expected some sort of HO/offence from lustre considering my heavy usage of bulky offence that can be overwhelmed both in W2 and in my playtest usage. I didn't roll the matchup I wanted and I didn't play well but this is a pretty standard webs team with tera water blast bolt.

W4 vs Tempo (L)
:malaconda: :walking_wake: :pecharunt: :lilligant_hisui: :great_tusk: :heatran:
I really like this team, sadly it sucks but I think lilligant is good. Not much to say, I lost in the builder this week and tempo played very well. Pivot spam super offensive sun is really fun and I think solid, but it needs to be more polished than this.

W5 vs Scizivire (L)
:hydrapple: :ogerpon_wellspring: :great_tusk: :iron_valiant: :slowking_galar: :landorus_therian:
Not my team so I won't link this one, made a couple of mistakes for sure but ran into a tough matchup. I couldn't build anything I liked this week and wasn't feeling very confident, really unfortunate loss and wish we could've won this one to be in finals, but alas.

Semis vs Galarian Blades (L)
:sinistcha: :krilowatt: :ting-lu: :tinkaton: :gliscor: :moltres:
This was a fun team, I still think it's solid but once again lost this one in the builder when I loaded into SD gliscor and realized the game was over. Another massive building oversight on my end, but I believe it can be patched up. If I were to use this team again, I'd probably swap moltres for something that can better handle gliscor, or just make moltres more offensive.

Here are some for fun teams, some of which I used in playtest, some of these are tested, some of these not at all, but ironically I think some of these are better than the teams I brought in this tour.
:dragonite: :slowking_galar: :cinderace: :ting-lu: :landorus-therian: :cresceidon:

ggs! ty to the skwovets for being a great team and trusting me throughout the season despite my bad run.

Hey Clotdogs, time to post my teams. Thanks again to SHSP and Earthflax for drafting me and all the Shox for the fun team environment.
As for my record this CL, it was alright but my wins were against people who were significantly less experienced than me and my losses were definitely winnable in game. So not quite satisfying, but it was still very fun playing this gen again.

Week 1 vs Charmriah
:Colossoil::Kitsunoh::Clefable::Arghonaut::Zapdos::Latias:
I wasn't sure what to expect, I only knew that Charm had BinPin support so I wanted to make a Kitsunoh team. After playing around for a while I settled on putting Kit with a classic defensive core of Clefable+Argh+Ground, eventually settling on Colossoil and completing it with Zapdos and Latias which are very obvious additions to complete the team, they really cover everything you need and make for a solid defensive team. I noticed this is actually the same 6 as one that Lialiabeast used in a previous tour, though my sets were different especially the colossoil, I opted for a more bulky leftovers set to spin more easily. I wanted to try out Pain Split Kit, I think its fine but it didn't end up showing it.
Biggest problem with this team is its too weak to opposing Kit, and well that is exactly what I faced! It still worked out in the end though, maybe scarf colossoil would have helped after all, or maybe flamethrower on clefable.

Week 2 vs Lialiabeast
:Pyroak::Krilowatt::Arghonaut::Latias::Blissey::Kitsunoh:
This week I wanted to try a Blissey offense, which I think is very underexplored in DPP CAP. Pyroak, excellent lead on this kind of bulky offensive team, very difficult to switch into and can grab you a lot of momentum early. You get to unleash a bunch of powerful attacks with mons that still provide a lot of defensive utility, Kit Latias Krill Argh are excellent at covering each other defensively and offensively. The Blissey helps take a ton of pressure off the rest of the team, I don't know if it would be better with rocks but flamethrower+seismic toss was pretty important here for Kit, even if it didn't end up being enough. Shuca Kit is pretty necessary here, its especially useful for scarf flygon which is quite annoying for the team otherwise, but unfortunately will o is unreliable and ice punch cant be fit, or maybe you replace pain split. Pain Split+Low Kick was to deal with Clefable with less predictions.
The team is fine, but I think you really need the Latias to be scarf, maybe revise the Arghonaut spread too. A bunch of misplays, not enough planning, I definitely could have won that game if I played better, it isn't so much the team's fault even if it has some weaknesses.

Week 3 vs metagross does architectu
:Bronzong::Forretress::Revenankh::Latias::Arghonaut::Syclant:
A Zong+Clant+Ghosts offensive team, I really like those. This time I wanted to make use of Forretress instead of Skarmory for emergency rapid spinning with the spikes. The Forretress is not meant to stay on the field very long, EQ here is for things like fidgit, though having that as the only offensive move makes it fodder to a lot of things once the opponent has figured it out. Originally it had toxic, that helps a lot if the opponent tries to spinblock with Rev, but against my specific opponent I wanted the flexibility of being able to use tspikes. I wanted to use Sub Punch Rev because I thought it could make enormous progress vs mda, this was true but I ended up letting it take a lot of damage because killing Kril was just that valuable. The Latias is a bit odd, but with the hazard stacking I wanted to try the roar calm mind set, I figured with some prediction this set could do wonders even vs opposing tyranitar and weaken the opposing team for my other mons. Roar+CM also makes the 1v1 vs Copycat Krilowatt a lot easier. Arghonaut helps a lot vs many of the offensive threats that would otherwise put too much pressure on this team, things like DD gyara stratagem scizor even tyranitar. I didn't put superpower on Clant because I figured I already abused it enough with Rev, but maybe that isn't enough.
Overall, this team felt pretty solid but it definitely has some exploitable flaws. A Breloom team with a scarf or band Ttar that manages to kill or damage the latias could be very difficult to deal with.

Week 4 vs Micaiah
:Swampert::Donphan::Clefable::Zapdos::Jirachi::Tyranitar:
I really wanted to try out a Donphan team, as I think it is very underrated as a spinner and has some notable advantages compared to Fidgit. I wanted to pair it with a wish clefable who would handle Krilowatt and other special attackers for it, and with wish support it doesn't need to fear knock off that much. Zapdos synnegises well defensively and offensively with both of them, adds some redundancy to stuff like Rev, and takes advantage of donphan spinning away hazards. I really like Band Ttar as a breaker here too, but the team is too vulnerable to utility argh and rocks are tough to keep up with pert. Donphan is good but I think some alternate path needs to be explored.
A lot of things went wrong this game, once swampert was poisoned/knocked it became pretty useless, even as the opposing Argh got poisoned. I didn't pursuit the stratagem, which was regrettable, and there was some mismanagement around Krilowatt, who ended up critting me after a few surfs.

Week 5 vs adorluigi
:Breloom::Skarmory::Clefable::Latias::Colossoil::Krilowatt:
Krilowatt+Breloom+Pursuit, they synnergize extremely well though it can leave some defensive gaps. Krilowatt's most consistent check is clefable, which gives a free switch for breloom to come in and pressure the opposing team, especially with spore. Latias, which checks them both, can be pursuited by Scarf Colossoil. If you need additional help breaking their core, skarm spikes should help a lot. Recover Latias helps you deal with a lot of annoying mons, like Heatran for example. Kril is toxic here because I didn't think I'd need to copycat spikes and hurting Rev and defensive Latias with a toxic felt really nice.
I was most afraid of a lead Kitsunoh forcing 50/50s, and I wanted Breloom to get its toxic orb off early so I could switch into clefable knock off, so I opted for a lead protect breloom with a bunch of bulk. Maybe this concept would actually work better with an offensive Breloom, but it just isn't what I went for this time. I might have spore a bit too early, and a spike would have been really nice, but I knew scarf Colo was going to be a big wincon this game, I just needed to pressure the team enough that Hippowdon would be given up at some point.

Won't go into too much detail on these teams because I feel like CAP is more exhausting than Ubers, even if I only play 2 tournaments of the former at a time and 34 of the latter. Shoutout to my team I guess.

Links to pokepastes are hyperlinked on sprites not in the headers!

Week 1 SM vs Mimikyu Stardust (L)

Didn't know what I wanted to load vs Mimikyu, ended up with a Reunitar structure. I felt that I was gonna get BO'd week 1 which turned out to be true and I didn't respect Krilowatt so I went Naive on Kyurem-B. Argh/Torn-T/Equilibra is great into bullshit.
I then proceeded to get Scarf Stone Edged for all my life savings turn 1 and Excadrilled for the pennies in my pockets.

Week 1 ORAS D2W vs Maxouille (L)

(note: this team is based on a team by BluBird so out of respect for my GOAT I've omitted his EVs. Figure it out yourselves)
I was building for D2 because he saw what our old gens help was and screamed. No execution needed for this build, you either face something favorable or you don't. Shadow Ball Manaphy is because it mid-grounds every water resist in the tier including volcanion and Ferrothorn. Metagross is Adamant and should always live Bisharp Sucker Punch. Maxouille loaded Balloon Defog Kitsunoh + Birdspam, there's nothing to say about what this can or cannot do.

Week 1 SV Kate vs Lily (W)
:xy/kitsunoh::xy/krilowatt::xy/ting-lu::xy/cinderace::xy/venomicon::xy/zamazenta:
I was on the CB Kitsunoh train super early because I knew that bitch was clicking Ghost moves like no other AND I'd been trash talking it for 2 months so no one would expect it from my players. Kate's request was just "something with a bunch of CAP on it, the more the merrier". This was also during a time where I was certain Chuggalong was gonna kill my family so we are on Mirror Herb Zamazenta, with Roar! In hindsight Meteor Mash hits fuck-all and a good HO pilot probably beats the shit out of this but meh. Ancient team using a mon that's been nerfed.
Fantastic matchup vs Lily achieved, with Zamazenta putting in serious work by copying the boosts from a Hemogoblin then Roaring it out. Match didn't matter too much cause we'd already lost the week atp so it was a bit lower stakes, but Kate played well :)

Week 1 SV Quinn vs Fragments (W)
:xy/landorus-therian::xy/ogerpon-wellspring::xy/raging-bolt::xy/zamazenta::xy/iron-crown:
Quinn knew nothing about CAP and was about to find out by playing. He requested an offense and I provided something I'd already built, based on some ancient ND team I stole from Jho. Whole idea is that you overwhelm key defensive mons with Chug/one of the paradoxes, then the other wins. Zamazenta was something I was high on at the time and Ogerpon-W matches up well into what I expected which was Gliscor and friends.
Got the matchup we wanted and despite not playing perfect and getting some crits, we secured the win. Sometimes, you just want a solid pilot to click with mons that have a boosting move.

Week 2 SM vs pannu (W)
:xy/weavile::xy/arghonaut::xy/tomohawk::xy/latias-mega::xy/toxapex::xy/equilibra:
Pannu has lost the plot in SM and I was 100% certain I could win in a longer game. SubCM Mega Latias I think is because I was watching some game from Lily on stours where she 6-0ed the opponent and I said "I wanna use this". Tomohawk was kinda an anti-cheese button that also punished the Equilibra/Arghonaut cores that were annoying for Weavile. No I don't remember what my EVs do. Steelium Z Equilibra is SO good when you thrash something like an opposing Mega Latias with it + Doom Desire; also OHKOes Cawm trying to use you as setup.
Pannu got lucky 30 ways to Sunday with Scald burns and still could not find a wincon. Bitch all you want about the unfun load or how I am "stuck in 2018" but the result was a success for me :)

Week 2 SV Galarian Blades vs Vuldark (W)
:xy/slowking-galar::xy/kyurem::xy/cresceidon::xy/ting-lu::xy/cinderace::xy/kitsunoh:

Originally this has a Zamazenta over the Kitsunoh but Galarian Blades changed it to the undead cat. Pretty simple execution of a bunch of pivots + broken wave = profit. Best way to improve this team is to not run Future Sight on Glowking but instead do Psychic Noise, I've seen the light thanks to Joesh. Lowkey the only reason this was loaded was that we wanted to try something different in this slot and Kyurem remains broken, so we loaded it and hoped for a good matchup which I am not sure if we did get? But we won.

Week 2 SV Kate vs oops (L)

Kate still only asked for 1 thing: many CAPs, no cheese, bulky offense or balance. I didn't have a specific thing in mind because spoo is my boyfriend where we cheat on each other then make out sloppy style over a Balatro run. Idea behind the team is that paralysis is broken, really, and Iron Valiant is criminally underutilized as a sweeper. I also knew spoo is Hemogoblin's strongest soldier, so clear Smog Mollux felt good as a load. SD Gliscor could sweep us on the DL but I also knew spoo was a bit behind the wave at the time so I felt OK making the concession.
Holy fuck I hate spoo for all the dogshit he pulled in the builder this game.

Week 3 ORAS aurora vs a fruitshop owner (W)
:xy/kerfluffle::xy/excadrill::xy/tornadus-therian::xy/metagross-mega::xy/manaphy::xy/weavile:
This team is bad. It won due to flinches. Do not use this team. Manaphy by beloved.

Week 3 SM vs seth (W)
:xy/pelipper::xy/swampert-mega::xy/kyurem-black::xy/greninja-ash::xy/tornadus-therian::xy/aurumoth:
1741610464858.png
it's rain into the SHSPs in SM I don't have to explain much. Z Kyurem-B removes one threat (read: ferrothorn), Aurumoth kills another mon, then one of my blue mons clickity clicks and I win.
I think I got a little lucky this week by dodging a Rock Tomb which expedited the wincons, but a nice stay-in on the double that seth pulled put me in what felt like a very commanding position. Rain into HO is always good for the HO player, especially if the scarfer isn't faster than Pert.

Week 3 SV Kate vs Ineros (W)
:xy/ogerpon-wellspring::xy/kingambit::xy/kitsunoh::xy/slowking-galar::xy/great-tusk::xy/zapdos:
I was really burned out when passing for the week so I opted to convert an SPL/OST team into CAP by just making something into a Kitsunoh (for the life of me I cannot remember what it was originally) and then changing a couple of sets here and there. The matchup I was expecting was actually semi-stall with bulky water Cresceidon which is why something like Adamant Oger + Zap + Kingambit felt like a decent load.
I think SHSP was malding in call really hard this game because Venom was Tera Fire or Substitute and thus won on its own but Ineros decided eating the burn was a better idea.

Week 4 ORAS aurora vs Steam Buns (L)

This is a week where I genuinely felt defeated in every possible. I didn't know what to pass and to whom, I was crashing out irl due to juggling more than I could handle and Quinn was telling me this is a meme tour that doesn't matter and I should die (not actually). Tried to out-cheese Buns with a team that never lets rocks go up and then you kinda sorta win with one of these insane sweepers...
...we load into Hippowdon and I die in-game. WP Dnite is kinda fire though, would recommend to more people!

Week 4 SM vs Clementine (L)

landorus-therian.png

I didn't wanna win I guess, so I loaded a team made by my good friend Eledyr which he RMTed here because haha funny ape. I was trying to build with Cofagrigus because I didn't wanna lose to Mega Pinsir but I could not make it work so I settled for this.
in the RMT he states "Fire-types suck to load into" and then I loaded into fuck-ass Victini + Dragonite.

Week 5 ORAS aurora vs RichardMillePlain (W)
:xy/tomohawk::xy/syclant::xy/pinsir-mega::xy/talonflame::xy/kerfluffle::xy/excadrill:
This is BinPinsir's world, we're just living in it.

Week 5 SM vs LBN (L)

I realized that people were no longer loading Jumbao for whatever reason in this generation, despite it being arguably a top 8 Pokemon in the tier. I also realized I had yet to load BUSTED-ASS Magearna. Originally, this was gonna have a Kommo-o some place, but I could not fit it in any way, shape, or forme. I also got nostalgic watching old replays and wanted to use Mega Gallade so uh, here you go. Team needed a water-type but I didn't wanna Krilowatt again so I made it dumbass Naviathan. Mega Charizard 6-0s me.
I load the preview and I am elated to be versus the LBN special: a bad team. HOWEVER!
Choking in finals and crashing out towards my manager and teammates was less infuriating than this loss. LBN didn't outplay a single turn but got everything necessary to win and I wanted to commit arson.

Semifinals SV Kate vs Fragments (L)
snaelstrom.png
dragapult.png
greattusk.png

fezandipiti.png
kingambit.png

This is a stolen team idk from whom but I sure as fuck didn't build with Fezandpiti. It would have won had we landed a Thunder Wave or if Kate didn't play around Tera Fairy and just attacked. Fragments, you did it again.

Semifinals SM vs Mimikyu Stardust (W)
:xy/kartana::xy/chansey::xy/ditto::xy/skarmory::xy/equilibra::xy/slowbro-mega:
A case of "I think this unset is gonna win but more importantly, it's gonna make my teammates and friends very mad if I am able to win with Timid Kartana". The team is straight up the 6 that Tricking loaded in OST finals, but with Equilibra over Gliscor to make it have that zany say qua.
Matchup would be amazing if I didn't immediately realise I a) have to play while driving and b) the stours import didn't keep Kartana's IVs so I get tilted. I also had changed it to Tera Fighting but that ALSO didn't go through for some god forsaken reason, so I had to play 5v6 for a while. Thankfully I pulled through :)

Semifinals ORAS aurora vs quziel (L)
gliscor.png
chansey.png
skarmory.png
clefable.png
alakazam-mega.png
zapdos.png

In my heart of hearts I knew that quziel isn't patient enough to load the fat v fat matchup which he knows I have absolutely NO issue passing to my players/pilots, so I focused more on not being weak to balance and BO, with Mega Zam and hazards as a consistent way to win, with Gliscor also acting as a strong wincon. Life Orb Clefabel also is insanely annoying for the average team as long as you get a single turn right at SOME point. Toxic Zapdos is another nuisance that most people don't account for, especially because the team has no hazard removal (nor does it need any imho).
The matchup would be a godsent if I had given clearer instructions and/or if flinches and misses were not accounted for. Oh well, don't load sand vs me in ORAS folks, you'll find this matchup staring you down!

Semifinals TB SV Quinn vs Fragments (W)
:xy/ninetales-alola::xy/gliscor::xy/kingambit::xy/iron-valiant::xy/cawmodore:
I felt it in my fat ass that Fragments would never ever ever ever ever EVERRRRR be able to win vs Cawmodore + Kingambit and we had yet to truly cheese him so I got to work making a heinous team.
Bro clicked SD in front of a Cawmodore btw.

Finals SM vs Clementine (W)
:xy/kommo-o::xy/mew::xy/volcarona::xy/smokomodo::xy/necturna::xy/gyarados-mega:
A lot of ideas went through my head for the Clementine rematch: do I wanna load something bog standard and try to outplay? Do I prep for Mega Pinsir? What can I do in the case of a full-on stall matchup? I ended up leaning towards either HO or a Mega Medicham BO which didn't pan out, but overloaded myself in techs to try and win on preview. Non-Z-move Necturna actually is better as a wallbreaker and my Z crystal remains hidden for a while, Kommo-o was Jolly + Taunt for the longest time while Gyarados was Substitute, but I ended up making it mixed Z Poison to smash Fini/Ferro/Libra cores while Gyarados would full-on stallbreak. I don't know exactly what Smokomodo does here, but he is trying his best. Shout-out Lily for liking Smoguana, ig. Volcarona was Coba because I was seemingly EXTREMELY weak to mega pinsir and I was headed into battle vs a Bug Maniac.
When I saw the Cresselia/Toxapex/Chansey core I genuinely almost jumped out of my seat in excitement. Clementine tried to eat the Z move with Cresselia so that Toxapex could later Haze, only to be in a VERY uncomfortable situation once I showed Life Orb. Gulp!
Another accusation of "poisson matchup" leveled against me while my opponent is loading fatshit....

I know Steam Buns doesn't watch SPL so I just passed the classic ORAS Trick Room team and went from there. It beats bullshit, it beats fat, it beats some balances. Idk man it's Trick Room.
I love aurora so I choose not to comment on our play <3

Finals SV Quinn vs haxlolo (W)
:xy/arghonaut::xy/equilibra::xy/jumbao::xy/blissey::xy/dondozo::xy/garganacl:
Quinn wanted to use Jumbao every week cause he thinks the mon is super cool. Jumbao is, unfortunately, kinda trash. Me and spoo innovated by making this stall with Jumbao that doesn't fold to Kitsunoh which was not yet nerfed! wow, we truly built this from scratch and got a fantastic matchup that 6-0ed and Quinn executed said 6-0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finals TB ORAS vs Steam Buns (L)
medicham-mega.png
clefable.png
latias.png
excadrill.png
talonflame.png
rotom-wash.png

When it came time to pick the tier for tiebreaker, I knew I had to throw myself to the wolves and face Buns myself. I have a very simple philosophy in scenarios like this: load Mega Medicham and click the right button every time. And so, I decided to build VoltTurn with Mega Medicham. There's no CAPs in ORAS that learn Volt Switch that don't suck ass and all the U-turn CAPs are weak to Water and there's no fucking way I am NOT using Excadrill. Team is self-explanatory, albeit ever so slightly bad into exactly Life Orb Tomohawk.
I didn't like my matchup when I loaded into the game, but I knew I could navigate it. I knew that the boat doesn't get Guts in ORAS so it must be the bulky fuck-off Taunt CM set... which was bad because it can come in on half the team and win!
Even though I think I played out of mind, it wasn't enough as 2 Draco Misses made it so I could not Healing Wish my Mega Medicham back up, which tilted me to the point of missing the clear wincon in front of me in turn 75 of just... healing my Clefable. Devastatingly sad loss but Steam buns is a formidable opponent when they don't load Mega Manectric.

cba to explain myself for all the dogshit that was never loaded so I am just gonna post them w/o minisprites or much fanfare.

ND CAP is fun, sucks we didn't win, ggs to the Quesos though, well deserved win.

Week 1: :Jumbao: :Tyranitar-Mega: :Tapu Lele: :Gliscor: :Zapdos: :Gholdengo:

Started with a cool balance around Jumbao + Mega Tyranitar, dex pretty much did 90% of the work LMAO

Week 2: :Equilibra: :Clefable: :Samurott-Hisui: :Dragapult: :Venomicon: :Latias-Mega:

Weird build, probably could of just gone Magic Guard Clefable and made it a lot better

Week 3: :Kitsunoh: :Terapagos-Terastal: :Landorus-Therian: :Tapu Koko: :Lopunny-Mega: :Ogerpon-Wellspring:

Strong offense team, breaks well, has Terapagos as a good spinner and has nice pivots

Week 4: :Landorus-Therian: :Miasmaw: :Gholdengo: :Primarina: :Volcarona: :Great Tusk:

Miasmaw looked funny and was good on HO. Also gave me an excuse to run Primarina

Week 5: :Krilowatt: :Scizor-Mega: :Venomicon: :Equilibra: :Arghonaut: :Weavile:

Fun team around Kirlowatt and Mega Scizor, idea is Scizor eats every Knock Off for Krilowatt so it can do insane damage

Finals: :Roaring Moon: :Tapu Lele: :Cresceidon: :Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: :Landorus-Therian: :Equilibra:

Think I could of shifted away from Roaring Moon in builder, but I just think my motivation fell off after a two week break from the tour so the team wasn't amazing. Rolled into a pretty rough matchup, but that's mons

Proud of myself for going 4-2 in my first CAP experience/singles team tour. s/o Earthflax and SHSP for getting me to sign up even though you didn't buy me LMAO, dex and Steam Buns for actually drafting me, the rest of the Crocs you were all really fun to team with, and Kayzn, Spammernoob, sealoo, and seth for supporting me.

very fun tour, shoutouts to the Croconaws for drafting me and being cool teammates; signed up on a whim and definitely did not expect to get drafted, let alone go 3-0. again, glad to have been introduced to the metagame.

click sprites for pastes.

SWSH [vs. temp]

Replay: the game

Predict of the Week
SS CAP: temp vs Dead by Daylight- not entirely sure if dbd has played any cap games before (sorry boss)
SHSP was right - this was my first foray into SM CAP and my test games with dex were the first games of the tier that I had ever played.

The Team
I wanted to build around Pajantom - if you've seen my building, you'll quickly realize that I always stick to a bread-and-butter formula for balance teams of a strong wallbreaker with hazards and a good defensive core with pivoting potential to surround it. ToxTect Melmetal, Arghonaut, and Lando-T form a solid defensive core while stacking chip damage onto checks to Pajantom like Ferrothorn and opposing Lando-T. Kartana is the team's mandatory Scarfer to stop speed boosting threats while removing Boots from stuff like Buzzwole and Corv to make Pajantom's job easier. Finally, Zapdos patches up the team's hazard weakness and pivots while luring stuff like Equilibra for Pajantom.

The Game
Melmetal looked really good if the Garchomp died and I predicted on the Heatran correctly - both of those happened, so the plan came to fruition and I won. Sadly, Pajantom did nothing, but hey, a win is a win.

SV [vs. Galarian Blades]
:ting-lu: :hemogoblin: :kitsunoh: :dragonite: :zapdos: :zamazenta:
Replay: the beautiful game - Vulfpeck

Predict of the Week
SV CAP: Galarian Blades vs Dead by Daylight - no hate to blades but his run is kinda mickey he's had like 1 real opp and that continues here
Blades had an incredible tournament - had they not rolled such a terrible MU, they could've likely gone 6-0. Props to them.

The Team
This team is the favorite team I've built thus far while playing CAP - it's strong, resilient, and can beat a range of styles from HO to Stall with good play. Ting-Lu spikestack with Hemogoblin and Kitsunoh was what I wanted to build - their types are naturally synergistic, and Hemogoblin easily cleans up weakened teams from Spikes and Kitsunoh just spreading Wisps. Dragon Tail Dragonite is a nice physical bulkhead while being able to shuffle through non-Boots foes and beat HO even harder with Extreme Speed. Zapdos is just a nice pivot that threatens Libra and the bulky Waters, while Zama provides some immediate power as well as having respectable staying power in its own right.

The Game
Blades loaded Webs only to lose their setter T1, and from there it went downhill. Tusk was a bit scary, but in the end the double-priority core came in clutch. Screw Neutralizing Gas.

ORAS [vs. Maxouille]
:fidgit: :charizard-mega-x: :necturna: :manaphy: :weavile: :syclant:
Replay: "how to lose ORAS CAP game" - Google Search

Predict of the Week
ORAS CAP: Maxouille vs Dead by Daylight- why is DBD in his third tier now what are they doing to this guy

The Team
I really don't know what was going through my head when I built this - I am a huge HO addict, so I just decided to throw on 5 setup sweepers and a lead in Fidgit and went off to the races. Not much else to say about this team.

The Game
I should not have won this game - it was a standard HO into Webs, which meant that MU was not in my favor, but a lucky Megahorn dodge and some odd plays with Mega Heracross gave Shadow Sneak Necturna the opportunity to steal the win away, which it did.

That's all I have right now, would rather save the remnants of my builder for later - didn't really do much support outside of suggestions. Thanks to the Crocs management (dex and Steam Buns) for picking me up, the other Crocs for being chill, and Spammernoob for existing in our server.
