Team 2
How could I not vote for my favorite Scizor set?

Also can someone tell me why Team 1 has a 248 Speed Crucibelle and a Scarf Rock Slide Kyurem-B?

Team 1

So this was actually pretty tough, as I'm not convinced any of these teams are any good, but I ended up giving it to Team 1. I'm assuming the Latios is supposed to have 4 Special Attack and 0 ATK IVs, rather than the rather abysmall 4 ATK he actually put on it, but even barring that, Kyurem has really awkward ATK/SpATK spread that seems almost purposely designed to miss all of the important milestones. Also, the Aurumoth really ought to have a better set than it actually does have. Also, all of his replays were really awful. But putting that aside, at least he had one of the better Crucibelle sets, and he had a Tomohawk set that didn't make my eyes bleed.

Team 2 seems to have been built to have mons with as little synergy as possible. The only active synergies his team actually have are his Crucibelle-Scizor synergy, his Azumarill-Garchomp synergy, and his Choice Specs Tomohawk-Scizor synergy, except he's inexplicably running Life Orb on his Choice Specs Tomohawk. He literally put the distribution, nature, and moveset for a Choice Specs set on the Tomohawk, but stuck a Life Orb on it for no reason without making any other change. He's missing most of the important rolls the Specs would have given him, and didn't even attempt to get them back on the slower mons it hit relevantly by going Modest. He's basically using Tomohawk as a really bad offensive Latias. And that's not even getting into the fact you have nothing to switch into basic OU Electric types.

Team 3 seems to be built on the assumption that having a single flying type on your team will somehow fix the problem that nothing else on the team can switch into a Ground-type attack. In addition to the overstacking of Ground weaknesses, the Psychic weakness is also pretty real, meaning this team will have a hard time switching in. I feel if it had the Tomohawk from team 1 and maybe switched Kraken and Plas for Keldeo and Necturna, you probably would have the best team here. It would fix the Water and Ground weakness, and make you slightly better against Psychic.

NumberCruncher, I don't usually call people out like this but cmon man, put a little bit of thought into your post. If you look closely Team 2 actually does have Modest nature on Tomohawk. Might do some good to read through the submission next time before harshly criticizing it like you did.

On a separate note, since when has Specs Tomohawk been a thing? When has it ever been a thing?

The winner for Round 7 is Team 2, which has been added to the Hall of Fame. Congrats!

There are a few quick things I'd like to address before we move on to the next round.
Discussion - As stated in the OP, discussion on the submissions is encouraged. In fact, it's one of the main goals of the project. I will say this, however: it's in your best interest to demonstrate at least a baseline understanding of the metagame when making your comments, or you can expect to get called out, and I'll be unsympathetic when it happens. This has been a recurring theme over several rounds, so I just wanted to make sure everyone is clear on this.

Replays - I've been pretty lax with the replays rule lately due to the low number of submissions, but I'm going to be stricter on that in the upcoming rounds. A minimum of two replays showing the team in action is required with your submission, or it will not be accepted. The reasoning for this should be self-explanatory; we want to avoid people submitting untested teams based entirely on theorymon.
cbrevan will be hosting Round 8, so he'll be posting the Pokemon or core to build around later today.

The Pokemon for Round 8 is none other than the great CAP powerhouse, Revanankh!

Revanankh is known for being a prodigious user of Bulk Up, which has good synergy with Revanankh's access to Shed Skin and good bulk and STAB coverage. Its also one of the few spinblockers that can reliably answer to Colossoil and other Dark-types, and a surprisingly effective Choice Band user due to its access to Trick.

PM me your teams by Sunday March 6th, 11:59 PM PST.

Make sure you fully read sparktrain's post above if you don't want to be DQed, remember, be respectful in the thread and liberal with the replays. Try to make sure they're good if you actually want to win too.

I decided to build around Choice Band Revenankh, as it's still a rather under-appreciated and effective set. I opted for Drain Punch and Shadow Sneak as Revenankh's STAB moves, as they provide it with recovery and priority respectively. Trick is one of the big selling points of the set, though, as it allows Revenankh to cripple Pokemon that could otherwise switch in and wall the more common Bulk Up set with ease, such as Unaware Clefable, Skarmory, and Tomohawk. I'd normally run Ice Punch on this set, but the Crucibelle hype is real lately, so Earthquake is nice to OHKO it, as well as provide coverage on Cyclohm and whatnot. Next, I paired Revenankh up with Mega Charizard X. Having a physical sweeper to take advantage of Revenankh's wearing down and crippling walls is ideal, and Mega Charizard X a great pick for the job. I opted for the standard Dragon Dance set. I then added specially defensive Necturna to sponge strong Water-type attacks for the team and spread burns with Will-O-Wisp, potentially easing setup for Mega Charizard X later on. Skarmory provides the team with a physical wall, not to mention entry hazard removal and phazing. It also provides the team with a solid answer to Colossoil; Revenankh can deal with it, but it can't switch in too many times, whereas Skarmory certainly can. From here, I added Sylveon to provide the team with cleric support as well as a way to punch through opposing Tomohawk and Cyclohm with ease. I debated on the last Pokemon for quite a while. I knew the team was pretty damn weak to Talonflame, so I desperately needed a durable Flying resist. I finally settled on Corsola, as it has surprisingly good longevity thanks to Recover and Regenerator, and it completes the FGW core with Mega Charizard X and Necturna. In addition to this, it can set up Stealth Rock for the team as well as spread burns with Scald. Earth Power is used to lure threats such as Plasmanta that may attempt to switch into Corsola. Overall, the team has a solid defensive backbone and can support the offensive Revenankh + Mega Charizard X duo effectively, usually ending in a Mega Charizard X Sweep.

This battle does a fairly nice job at showcasing several of the team's individual members. Revenankh takes down an opposing Mega Crucibelle with Earthquake, Necturna is able to outlast the opposing Naviathan thanks to its own bulk and recovery, Sylveon obliterates two opposing Pokemon with its Pixilate-boosted Hyper Voice, and Corsola is able to hold its own against Cawmodore and take it down at the beginning of the match, as well as getting up Stealth Rock.

Another well-fought match, not a whole lot to say.

So obviously the team was build around Revenankh and I decided to go with Bulk Up since I have used Choice Band too much (sorry Cbreven.) So the first teammate I thought was Mega Metagross as it doesn't get stomped on by Fairies. While it can be a decent Flying and Psychic switch in I didn't want this to be the main solution to that problem. Zygarde was a bit of an interesting approach, I wanted something that could deal with Fire-types like Pyroak and have a decent match up against Charizard X. I originally wanted Garchomp but saw Zygarde as an oppurtunity to help out in a game where being a slow bulky set up sweeper wasn't the best option. Zygarde is the more faster approach to sweeping teams and it is so overwhelming when teams aren't prepared to take it on. I didn't like how the team had no pivots so I added Slowbro with Thunder Wave to help keep speed control against faster pokemon like Tornadus and Cawmadore and a plethora of other things. This lacking Stealth Rock I added Pyroak to form a defensive core with Slowbro and it can help to break down Water-types and spread burns through Lava Plume. The last slot I wanted something that can help with Flying-types offensively that didn't require set up so I added Krillowatt. It helps against Tomohawk and Landorus.

Team 1

and here's how it goes

+6 252 Atk Cawmodore Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 252 HP / 72 Def Slowbro: 487-574 (123.6 - 145.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

0 SpA Slowbro Scald vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Cawmodore: 109-130 (45 - 53.7%) -- 40.2% chance to 2HKO

Slowbro doesn't stop Cawmodore. Your slowbro is actually set up on because cawmodore is immune to twave

+6 252 Atk Cawmodore Drain Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Krilowatt: 334-393 (75.2 - 88.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Life Orb Krilowatt Surf vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Cawmodore: 179-212 (73.9 - 87.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Krill doesn't stop it either

Zygarde doesn't have ExtremeSpeed, making it an inferior dragon dance user compared to Dragonite

And you forgot to hide your username. hey zelfie.

team 1 is at least creative and uses corsola somewhat effectively

Team 1

I felt that team 1 was very creative and had a great core between Choice Band Revenankh bulky support sylveon.

Team 2

Normally, I'd give credit to a team that gets good use out of its build-around, but the problem is that if you just look at the 5 mons that aren't Rev on team 1's roster, there are so many holes in those 5 that you need to preserve Rev the entire game for the team not to fall apart, which is difficult on a variant with no heal.

The winner for Round 8 is Team 2, which was built by SlaySlenderDragon XD. The team has been added to the Hall of Fame. Congrats!

Judging by the low number of submissions and low activity in this thread over the past several rounds, it seems as though the interest in this project has died down. As such, I'll be closing the thread for now. If there's interest in starting this project back up sometime, shoot me a PM on Smogon or PS and we'll talk.
