CAPCL I - Semifinals

With the round robin section of this tournament over, we now move on to the playoffs! Congrats to the Staryus, Breezis, and Steelixes for making it this far, and thank you everyone else for participating. As per an agreement made by managers from each of the remaining teams, Pyroak will be banned from SS and Monotype for the rest of the tour. Matchups are below.

All standard tournament rules apply. Ghosting is strictly prohibited. Replays must be posted or else your battle will be considered invalid. Once again, since this is a team tournament, no extensions are given; substitutions are used instead of extensions. If any trade occurs this week, neither traded player will be able to participate in a battle the same week. Please complete your games by Sunday, February 20th at 11:59pm GMT-6.

The Strap vs D2TheW : as much as I'd love to end this post with just The Strap, this matchup is between two very solid players and could easily go either way, but Strap gets the advantage here given such an excellent track record. highlight game for sure.

SHSP vs Rage.Spam.Quit. : one's washed and the other cracked, I'm not counting their last match as an indicator tho as RSQ didn't really win as much as the game decided SHSP wasn't allowed to play. Hopefully this is a worthy rematch between these two.

RaJ.Shoot vs Scizivire : going to give the edge to RaJ here because they've played well, won in this situation before, and got all of India backing them up. Sciz could def flip it here with support + mu + ratio but it's a hard sell.

Heaven Jay vs gorex : gorex has been doing well when they play but I have more confidence in Jay just because of higher activity.

Splash vs GBlaze : Splash hasn't played yet IIRC which gives me doubts, but they've also been around a long time and the lack of info might make counter-strategy hard here. GBlaze got the support needed to take the win last week and Staryu's really need to repeat that success. honestly no clue sounds like the sleeper hit match this round.

luisin vs crashy : crashy has done exceptionally well in such a volatile tier, hard to not put faith in.

The Strap vs D2theW: I def agree with shnow that this is the highlight match of the week. Both of these players have proven themselves time and time again in esteemed CAP tournaments. However, sky’s been on a great roll this tour aside from an unlucky loss to quziel. 55-45 strap

SHSP vs RSQ: I think this is a very interesting matchup between two rly solid players. Sure, RSQ emerged victorious last time around, but that was mostly bc of a pretty shit MU tbh, and something I’ve noticed abt SHSP is his proficiency in multiple playstyles. This is very key, as it means his unpredictability could grant him the win. Slight edge to rsq tho

RaJ vs Scizivire: don’t rly have much to say abt this one, I think raj just has more your experience in general and is also capable of winning against opps like arnav, so he should win here

Jay vs gorex: A tough opponent and he has been doing well in this tour, but I think jay is strong enough in Oras to overcome gorex here

Splash vs GBlaze: iirc splash is a monotype player who’s pretty good in it, so I’m honestly surprised to see him placed in the BW slot. Like shnow said above, GBlaze is capable of winning with good support, so he should win here again

luisin vs crashy: crashy has impressed this tour in a tier like mono, pretty big advantage to him here
