The Mystery Box for Week 6 is Challenge Cup 1v1 "LJDA" best of 7!
"LJDA" refers to Los Juegos Del Azar, a yearly competition in the hispanic community focused on Challenge Cup 1v1 and 2v2. Its most unique trait is that in every set, players will have the opportunity to use 3 wild cards, which are:
Ban Pokemon > you can select one of the pokemon of your opponent and request that it doesn't get selected,
Showset Pokemon > you can select one of the pokemon of your opponent and request to show its set. The opponent can still select it
Remake > you can ask to remake the game, by rerolling different teams
The procedure to use a wildcard:
- Wildcards can be used only on team preview
- If you want to use a wildcard, announce in the battle chat which wildcard you are using and the targeted pokemon
- You must wait until your opponent confirms in the battle chat that they have seen your wildcard. I suggest to directly ask them for confirmation and to ask them if they are ready or not
- Note#1: in the original LJDA, not waiting for the opponent to confirm they have seen your wildcard would automatically result in a loss for you. However, we have scrapped the rule for this Mystery Box since we thought that, at the end of the day, the lack of wait would mainly damage the person who used the wildcard
- Note#2: it's up to the players (or their teammates) to remember which wildcards have been used in the series. If anyone uses the same wildcard twice but the opponent doesn't call them out, that's their own fault
Important rules you need to know on the use of wildcards:
- You can't use multiple wildcards in the same game
- You can't use the same wildcard twice in the best of 7
- Normally, if you use a wildcard in a battle, the opponent can follow up with a wildcard of their own, so keep this in mind for your strategy!
- The wildcard Remake is very unique: as stated above, if you use it, the match is voided and you'll play another series as if those teams never existed. However, if the opponent is quicker than you and uses a wildcard before you ask for a reroll, you can no longer use the remake. You can still use other wildcards in the same game, but not the reroll
- The series for this MB will be in best of 7, but since remaking a game means one of the players needs to forfeit the current game, we strongly advise to set the series to best of 9 to make sure the series doesn't have to be cut halfway through
