XY OU Charizard X Balanced team

Hello, Im brand new to competitive play and I was looking for advice for the team ive been using on Pokemon Showdown. I choose this team for its balance, having 2 of each kind of sweeper and one of each type of wall.
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
Impish Nature
- Brave Bird
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind
- Roost

I open with Skarmory. He Lays down my Stealth Rocks and gives me Phazing with Whirlwind. Brave Bird gives me Fighting coverage and Roost for lasting longer. He is also my Physical Wall, covering alot of major threats with his excelent typing. Sturdy keeps him alive after his stealth rock and allows him to switch out or roost. He pairs well with Blissey in defending and supporting the team.

Dragonite @ Life Orb
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Superpower
- Thunder Punch
- Outrage
- Roost

This is my first Physical Sweeper and the one I use if I cant setup with Char X. I use him for coverage with Thunder Punch and Superpower. Roost again to last longer. I chose him mainly because i really like him and he has good coverage moves.

Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin

Starmie is my Rapid spinner as well as a fast Special Sweeper. Coverage with ice and thunderbolt. He is used to cover Charizard X from stealth rocks as well as countering many of his weaknesses. Ice Beam takes care of grass types and dragon types that threaten starmie. i picked surf over hydro pump for consistency.

Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

This is what my team is built around. He is my main Physical Sweeper and Dragon Dance user. Earthquake for coverage. He is brought in late game when his counters are taken care of or on a defensive pokemon. after one or two dragon dances he should be able to finish off the battle.

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Gengar is my second Special Sweeper and my Choice Scarf User. He is a revenge killer. His good type coverage allows him to be switched in to almost any pokemon and his speed rating/scarf allow him to outspeed most people and get the kill to even it up

Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Wish
- Heal Bell
- Protect

Blissey is my cleric and special wall. Seismic toss is her dmging move to make up for low attack. Heal bell is to keep sweepers like char x from getting hung up. Wish and protect are used to heal herself and heal also allows her to heal my other mons as well thanks to her huge hp pool. She pairs really well with skarmory, keeping the team in battle condition.

Thank you for looking over this post and for any advice you all have.

I'm on my phone now so this a very basic description of this team's flaws.

Blissey is inferior to chansey. Try the standard Chansey set. If you miss the Wish Support, Chansey Can also provide the same thing. SkarmBliss isn't as effective as back in Gen 3. As for the Skarmory set, replace Whirlwind with Defog. Phazing isn't as effective without spikes. As you will have defog for hazard clearing, Starmie, which has a bad Psychic typing and mediocre SpA, can be replaced by Greninja, a much better revenge killer. If you're worried about Bisharp, Counter can be used instead of Brave Bird as Skarmory will survive a hit from even a +2 Bisharp and retalitate with Counter. Counter can also deal with M-Mawile. Also try not to have a even HP number for pokemon weak to stealth rocks. Instead of Dragonite, which isn't a very good sweeper even with Multiscale and Dragon Dance, in stead you can use SubKyurem-B. It's much more threatening and not so easy to revenge kill behind a sub. Setting up a sub is easy as many things such as M-Venusaur and Rotom-W are threatened out by Kyurem-B. Gengar isn't the best Revenge Killer. You might want to replace Gengar with Aegislash as Greninja already fills the role. You can choose the Aegislash set based on which on you feel fits your team best.

NEVER EVER use Life Orb on Multiscale Dragonite as it completely defeats the purpose of the ability. Weakness Policy or Leftovers would be better to use as items, also invest more in HP EVS than speed EVS because you can withstand more hits. Starmie may seem good on paper but it is very weak to hits and has a small time frame to remove hazards, instead replace it with a different water type like Greninja who can deal massive damage with his wide movepool. Now you may be like "then i dont have a spinner" and thats where Skarmory comes in. You may be like "is this man on something to suggest defog skarmory lmaooo" but defog Skarmory can work very well as it can switch in pretty easily with great typing and defenses plus a resistance to rocks making it a good defogger. Chansey is a lot better than blissey in 90% of situations so I recommend using it because of the bulk it gains with eviolite.
Greninja@Life Orb
Timid
252 SpA 252 Spe 4 HP
-Hydro Pump
-Dark Pulse
-HP fire
-Ice Beam

Chansey@Eviolite
Bold
252 HP 252 Def 4 SpD
-Seismic Toss
-Toxic
-Softboiled
-Heal Bell/Wish

Skarmory@Rocky Helmet
Impish
Same EVs
-Brave Bird
-Defog
-Roost
-Whirlwind

Dragonite@Leftovers
Adamant
252 HP 252 Atk 4 SpD
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Extremespeed
-Earthquake/Fire Punch

hi. i got your request & tried playtesting with this team and it's really very difficult to use. certain threats like bisharp just run through your entire team by clicking one move: sucker punch. though you've got skarmory and blissey, you don't have a reliable switch-in to many of your opponent's 'mons and because your skarm & bliss are both walls w/o any offensive presence, they lose you a lot of momentum & a good player will capitalize on that and destroy you.

i'd suggest playing a lot more on the ladder until you're seeing what kind of pokémon you're having the most trouble with and then rework your team to address those threats. bisharp is a huge problem as i mentioned. scarf gengar is a little disappointing because it lacks the high base power STAB moves to abuse (doesn't even OHKO latios and gets OHKO'd in return, plus gets sucker punch'd by bisharp), so i swapped it for the stallbreaker set with shadow ball / will-o-wisp / substitute / taunt which can at least burn switch-ins for some much needed residual damage & completely shut down opposing walls like chansey. you can keep the same EV spread you've got to keep those shadow balls as powerful as they can be or go with the very specialized suggested spread of 28 HP / 148 SpA / 80 SpDef / 252 Speed Timid found here.

starmie is cool in concept but it makes you more vulnerable to volt switch + u-turn, bisharp's sucker punch, and w/ life orb it wears itself down so quickly before really being useful. fast threats with u-turn or volt switch (namely greninja, mega-manectric) dismantle your team in a heartbeat because they get the switch advantage over your blissey who lets in any strong physical hitter for free. a wall like blissey (or chansey as the above posters mentioned) is better suited for a full stall team imo where your whole team can sponge hits for days and not get worn down; as it is, you're wearing your own team down very very quickly w/ life orb recoil & flare blitz recoil while the opponent just has to pressure blissey to prevent any useful wish passing.

i definitely don't want to discourage you because it's obvious you put a lot of thought into your team's build, with a sort of formula for keeping it balanced, but in practice you have to address specific pokémon threats. volt-turn & any opposing bisharp were just the most obvious threats that came to mind in the few battles i played. you need to keep playing & keep adapting until you've found a way to shut down those threats and come out on top. the forums help a lot w/ ideas and w/ identifying the biggest threats for your specific team, so keep lurking and keep battling. hope i helped.

Gengar @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe [or the spread i mentioned above.]
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk [good for special attackers to minimize confusion & foul play damage just incase]
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute

Thank you all for responding and all of your wonderful advice. And Jin White im not discouraged at all. I built this team based I n articles I read so it was all guess work.

Im definitely going to take alot of this advice. I love greninja so ill definitely be swaping him in, probably as the revenge killer.

Ill be changingy skarmory to rocky helmet, counter, defog, roost. My question is what should the last move be? Is running rocks and defog at the same time a waste?

Also Jin White so donu not think I need a cleric on the team? What would u suggest to replace her? Another special wall or tank of some sort?

Im liking the aegislash idea. I was worried about his typing before but I think I can get him on my team minus gengar. I would probably use him as a physical sweeper.

So I think now im down to figuring the final special sweeper to round out the team. Suggestions?

Thank you all again for your time and effort <3

^ do everything the peoples over me said.

Change the evs of charizard in

Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Def / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

In this way u get less damages by stealth rock. If your HP number is odd, u get less damages by entry hazards, life orb and sand. This works for every pokemon

Changing the set of gengar, u need a revenge killer. Both dragonite and chari double dance, same coverage. And this is not good. Try this:

Dragonite @ Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Fire Punch / Thunder Punch

U are more powerful with a +2 priority that hit hard. Multiscale isn't broken by choice band like happen with life orb. Unfortunaly all peoples over me says all good suggestions, this is everything i can do.
