Hello pokemasters, it has been a long time since I have visited these forums or logged onto IRC...I have been very busy with school and music, my biggest passion in life. I probably am not very familiar anymore, but back in the day I used to be quite the avid poster on TPM haha.
ANYWAY, I just wanted to share the work that I've spent the last year or so of my life on with you guys, so let me know what you think!
We are called The Forties, based out of Columbus, OH, where we all met while attending The Ohio State University. We formed last spring quarter in March 2009...and what a ride it has been since then. We've been really lucky and have got to play some big shows and open up for acts like: Uncle Kracker, Jerry DePizzo of OAR, Kate Tucker, and this next February we will get to play with Rookie of the Year and Green River Ordinance. All of our friends in Cbus/Akron have been more than supportive of us...and what a rewarding journey it has been.
We recently finished recording our first official release, "DAYDREAM EP". Engineer/mixer/producer Austin Briggs, who was on the team that helped produce Breaking Benjamin's last album, helped us out soooo much and we are so incredibly happy with the sound we were able to get out.
I would call us pop/rock/alternative. "Pop-Rock" sometimes gets a negative rep, and we would describe ourselves as that style, but we still think we have our own unique sound that sets us apart from any other generic pop-rock band.
Anyway, you can listen to the ENTIRE EP(well, minus 1 song that you have to purchase the EP to hear :P) at:

You can also be cool and friend us at http://www.facebook.com/theforties
and additionally, we JUST got back our newly recorded music video for our self-proclaimed hit single, "Today", off of the EP which you can watch at:

ahaha sorry for all the shameless self-promoting links, but I really hope you guys can give us a few listens/views and let me know what you think! Like I said before, we are going for a VERY mainstream/radio-rock sound, so this has been a completely new experience for me. I used to be the guy on here(and other forums) arguing about which Radiohead album was the best or why Meddle is far and away Pink Floyd's most interesting work(I still believe that), and my guitar-playing reflected that. So, simplifying things down a bit and trying to get "hot" beats/riffs(can't believe I just used that phrase) was a challenge for me!
Anyway, I hope you guys give us a chance, for sure let me know what you think! And if anyone else is in a band around the Ohio/surrounding area region, hit me up or friend us, we would love to trade shows and fans.
edit: and why yes, my signature does indeed say 'commut suicune'...haha.
