checking iv

how are you all checking your pokemon's iv's so easily in d/p? i know of metalkids calculator, but you have to enter multiple levels of stats, which is a bit of a pain unless you have rare candies. so i guess i'll also ask if theres an easy way to get rare candies. what other d/p iv calcs are there?

An easy way is to battle against a friend on Wi-Fi with those Pokemon. Tell that person that this is an IV battle only, just to check your Pokemon's IVs. The Pokemon's stats would be automatically converted for Level 100, and it's then an easy matter to write down the stats and find the IVs (for the record, 1 IV = 1 in that stat, unless the stat is changed by the Pokemon's nature). Then you and your friend run from the battle when you're done. You can check more than one Pokemon's IVs this way too.

Not completely sure about this one, but you can also go to the battle tower and have them converted to level 50. Then it will be, most of the time, 1-3 points off. But it works when you have no friends. ):

I just slap on the EXP share and fight a few battles. EV-reducing berries fix any unwanted EVs should the prospect be worthy....

I'd say the best way for you to get rare candies would be to attach one to each Pokemon you transfer over from 3rd gen.

Battle Tower only lowers Pokemon levels, it won't raise a Pokemon's level.

Using Wi-Fi is, by far, the best way to check IVs of a Pokemon imo.

I dick around with NetBattle's stats for the most part. Even at a low level you can tell when IVs are in the like 28-31 range which is awesome. So for example I knew this Adamant Magikarp I caught had a great attack IV when I caught it because the attack stat it had matched NB's until I lowered the IV to something like 28 or 29. If you're looking for a quick way to determine the top range for stats, Netbattle works just fine. Obviously the WiFi trick is better, but not having wireless sort of makes that whole thing moot.

I chuck level one pogeys into the daycare until level 12 (only a thousand steps or so), then use the 8 ingame rare candies, then reset. Level 20 is good enough for IV's most of the time.
