[Overview]

<p>Cherrim's average base stats, frailty, and bland movepool leave it almost unusable in the current NU metagame. Cherrim's unique ability, Flower Gift, does give it a niche as a mixed sun sweeper, but Pokemon such as Victreebel, Sawsbuck, and Charizard should always be considered first due to their superior Speed and offensive stats.</p>

<p>This set should only be used on sun teams, though even then Cherrim's low Speed stat prevents it from doing much damage before being knocked out. Cherrim's Attack and Special Defense boosts with Flower Gift grant it a slight niche over Victreebel. Healing Wish further differentiates Cherrim from other sweepers, allowing it to give stronger, faster sweepers another chance to deal some damage. SolarBeam allows Cherrim to hit hard itself, while Giga Drain can be used for longevity, pairing well with Cherrim's Special Defense boost from Flower Gift. Nature Power allows Cherrim to deal physical damage and is its strongest option against Poison-types, Probopass, and Bastiodon. Hidden Power Fire hits really hard in the sun, but Hidden Power Rock can be used to hit threats such as Mandibuzz that wall the set.</p>

<p>Growth is an option for Cherrim, allowing it to boost both of its attacking stats. Good partners for Cherrim are Volbeat and Liepard, which can set up sun reliably with their Prankster ability. Golem and Regirock also set up sun well, and they cover many of Cherrim's weaknesses. Lastly, Victreebel, Charizard, and Sawsbuck make good offensive partners in the sun, considering they sweep better than Cherrim in the first place, and greatly appreciate Cherrim's Healing Wish.</p>

[Other Options]

<p>Cherrim can attempt a defensive set with Aromatherapy, Leech Seed, and Synthesis, but its defensive stats are too low for this to function well. Cherrim can set up weather itself, but Pokemon with better typings and abilities such as Liepard and Volbeat do the job much more reliably. GrassWhistle is an option for Cherrim to cripple an opponent with sleep, but its accuracy is too shaky to rely on. Petal Dance enables Cherrim to do high, consistent damage outside of the sun, but Cherrim shouldn't be used outside of the sun anyway. Weather Ball is an option over Nature Power, but if you want to use Weather Ball, Victreebel is the much better wielder. Lastly, Cherrim can go physical in the sun with Seed Bomb, Return, and Nature Power, but it is completely outclassed by Sawsbuck.</p>

[Checks and Counters]

<p>Faster Pokemon with super effective coverage such as Braviary and Swellow can KO Cherrim before getting hit; Charizard in particular can do this and can take advantage of the sun itself. If Cherrim lacks Hidden Power Rock, bulky Flying-types such as Mandibuzz and Mantine wall it. Taunt users such as Liepard and Serperior can stop Cherrim from using Healing Wish and prevent its teammates from setting up sun as well, greatly limiting its performance. Lastly, Protect stalls sun turns and thus reduces Cherrim's potential as well.</p>

  • Nature Power allows Cherrim to hit on the opposite spectrum, specifically Steel-types such as Probopass and Bastiodon, who are neutral to HP Fire, and Fire-types that wall its STAB.
  • Hidden Power Fire is a nice coverage move since it is boosted in the sun, but Hidden Power Rock hits Flying-types that wall the set such as Mandibuzz and Mantine, and it has better coverage overall with Cherrim's STAB attack.
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • Great partners to set up sun are Liepard and Volbeat, who have Prankster and great support moves to help Cherrim sweep.
  • Growth is a great option since it boosts both of Cherrim's stats.
  • Regirock and Custap Berry Golem set up sun reliably and cover Cherrim's Flying- and Fire-type weaknesses.
  • While outclassed by the like, Victreebel, Sawsbuck, and Charizard make great offensive partners in the sun because of their power and versatility.

  • A defensive set is optional with good moves such as Aromatherapy, Leech Seed, and Synthesis, but Cherrim is too frail to make the best use of them.
  • Grasswhistle can be used to help Cherrim set up, but its accuracy is too shaky to rely on.
  • Petal Dance is an option for high, reliable damage outside of the sun.
  • Cherrim could set up the sun itself, but Pokemon with better typings and abilities pull off the job better.
  • Cherrim could go strictly Physical in the Sun with Return and Seed Bomb in addition to Nature Power, but Sawsbuck does better as a pure physical sweeper.
  • Weather Ball can be used, but it is illegal with Nature Power. There is no reason to use Cherrim over Victreebel if you want Weather Ball.

  • Most faster, physical attackers with super effective coverage can KO Cherrim before getting hit, such as Swellow, Braviary, and Scolipede.
  • Charizard outspeeds, loves the sun, and KO's Cherrim with Flamethrower or Fire Blast.
  • Without HP Rock, Mandibuzz and Mantine wall the set.
  • Keeping Sun off the field limits Cherrim greatly, so Taunt users, such as Samurott, Misdreavus, Mandibuzz, and Liepard all stop the team from setting up Sunny Day.
  • Protect also stalls sun turns, which hinders Cherrim's performance.

i'd still like to see healing wish slashed with growth (possibly before it) since sun teams really appreciate healing wish users and it doesn't really have the bulk or speed to set up and sweep with growth. make solarbeam the first slash since it needs all the power it can get and this set should really only be used in the sun

i would combine aromatherapy and leech seed and add in synthesis and just mention a defensive set in oo which is bad ofc

  • Definitely make Healing Wish the first slash, if not the only one. Cherrim is too slow to sweep with Growth and because of how easily sun teams are normally worn down Healing Wish is pretty useful (as useful as Cherrim can be, anyway :P) Idk if Growth should even be slashed since it kinda sucks, but it at least goes second.
  • Also you forgot to make SBeam the first slash.

  • The third point doesn't really make sense since Cherrim is just as crippled by hazards as anything else. I'd just say most faster things with a strong enough hit can revenge kill it.

fixed Dat Blast . And the main point on the c&c was that it takes SR damage to ensure the OHKO from Jynx and Primeape, two common threats, but i removed it since it confused you.
