tera type: Fairy

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Flutter Mane functions as a great wallbreaker and revenge killer thanks to its already high Special Attack and Choice Specs, allowing it to break through unprepared teams with its dual unresisted STAB moves.
  • Mystical Fire 2HKOes specially defensive Iron Treads and serves as a way to hit Corviknight.
  • Psyshock is preferred in the last slot as a way to threaten specially defensive walls such as Blissey and Clodsire. Thunderbolt can be used to 2HKO Mirror Armor Corviknight and Toxapex.
  • Flutter Mane can Terastallize into the Fairy typing to further increase its damage output.
  • Flutter Mane pairs extremely well with Koraidon, as it can set up sun to further boost Flutter Mane's already impressive Speed. Koraidon can also pivot out via U-turn against Pokemon such as Great Tusk and Skeledirge, which Flutter Mane can threaten.
  • Physically defensive Corviknight is a great partner for Flutter Mane that can come in on attacks that target Flutter Mane's weaker physical defenses while also providing it safe entry via a slow U-turn.
  • This set appreciates entry hazard support from Great Tusk, which can also threaten Flutter Mane's checks such as Clodsire, Blissey, and Iron Treads.

Psyshock should be first slash. It's a must if you ever wanna break trough Clodsire, unlike Tbolt which is pretty unnecessary most of the time. Shadow Ball can do the same thing with Rocks up, so depending on the team I think you can make tera Ghost a second slash for better efficiency in that regard. I mean maybe it's just me but I'd rather have to outplay Corv with doubling with Rocks than being stonewalled by Clodsire instead of just being able to OHKO with Psyshock.
252 SpA Choice Specs Flutter Mane Shadow Ball vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Corviknight: 160-190 (40.1 - 47.6%) -- 3.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Another thing I think is important to add is that hazard control is crucial for Flutter Mane. Hazards often significantly limit it's switch ins and quickly let it fall into range of the opponent's attacks such as CB Pao Ice Shard, opposing Flutter Mane Shadow Ball and similar. They also significantly dig into it's ability to switch into pokemon it's supposed to threaten out e.g. it can be switched into Ting Lu because it can survive the EQ or remain unscathed if it sets up hazards. However with any hazards up Ting Lu's EQ will KO it. That also goes for the situations where Flutter Mane gets statused by something like a Toxapex Toxic. That's why I can definitely agree on Corv being a great teammate, it might not look like it at first glance but hazard control is crucial for it.

The listed partners for it I can definitely agree with, but I think another important one to mention is Chien Pao, more specifically with HDB. Flutter Mane isn't exactly dropping defensive staples with neutral STAB attacks so it can often let hazards trough, as such exploiting those less phisically inclined walls is easily done with Chien Pao sets that ignore hazards. However these two aren't exactly pillars of defensive utility and are easily dealt with with faster pokemon from any good teams. That's why covering those holes with strong defensive pokemon is recommended.

Other things you said are good from what I saw, good content. QC:1/2

Not quite sure what the second dot point is saying as you repeat 2HKO on the former. Perhaps you meant to put "latter" instead of former in one of the clauses? The relative ability to 2HKO isn't as relevant, you are probably safe to just put has a chance to 2HKO to keep it cleaner.

There is no need to mention how common the core is for the third dot point. You can simply say that it provides important coverage for Corviknight and Toxapex, then mention Mirror Armor preventing Mystical Fire from 2HKOing Corviknight in some cases. There is no need to mention how common Mirror Armor is as the meta may change and Mirror Armor might become meta, making the analysis outdated. (And for the record, it sees a lot of play even now). SpD Toxapex is still threatened and 2HKOd by Thunderbolt; this should be removed. (252 SpA Choice Specs Flutter Mane Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex: 170-202 (55.9 - 66.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO)

On the fifth dot point, Flutter Mane generally does not want to switch into defensive mons. The defensive mons in the meta all have tools that can do massive damage to Flutter Mane. Ting Lu has EQ, Clodsire has EQ, Skeledirge has Hex, Blissey has TWave and/or Sball, Corv has Iron Head, etc. The general playstyle of Specs Mane is through doubles and U-Turn or utilising its 135 base SpD.

It's worth mentioning for Koraidon, that it can U-Turn on common switch-ins like Skeledirge and Defensive Great Tusk, which Flutter Mane can abuse.

Everything else looks fine. Will look again once implemented.

Implemented Both.

Just as a note, please fix up some common issues:

  • Pokemon should always be capitalised. Corviknight, for example, is named a number of times as “corviknight”.
  • Put spaces in between your slashes.
  • Items and Types should be capitalised.
  • Abilities should be written as they are on Showdown. Mirror Armor is written as both Mirror-Armor and Mirror Armor in this post.
  • Do not abbreviate Pokemon names and terms in general. Corviknight is Corviknight, not Corv. “mons” is not an actual term used in an analysis.
  • The verb for OHKO is OHKOes not OHKOs, as the latter is the plural form.
Other than that, some things can be separated. You can have a separate bullet point for what type of team Flutter Mane prospers in, and what teammates it’s good with. At the moment, the content is a bit too wordy and heavy for each bullet point.

Consider removing the unnecessary calculations such as the 2HKO mentions. It’s implicit that the STABs don’t do the job.

Will QC once these changes are made.

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Shadow Ball and Moonblast are the strongest STAB moves on Flutter Mane and provide it valuable provide unresisted STAB coverage.
  • Mystical Fire deals super-effective super effective damage to Steel-types such as on the likes of specially defensive Iron Treads and Corviknight, both common switch-ins for to Flutter Mane. This, consequently, allows it to have a guaranteed 2HKO on Specially defensive sets on the former and a chance to 2HKO the latter, which Shadow Ball can't provide otherwise.
  • Psyshock is preferred in the last slot as a way to threaten special walls such as Blissey and Clodsire. Thunderbolt can be used to 2HKO Mirror Armor Corviknight and Toxapex. Thunderbolt can be used for crucial support against Corviknight-Toxapex cores, leaving you unworried about the Mirror Armor set on the former, as Mirror Armor prevents Mystical Fire from 2HKOing in some cases. However, this can be swapped upon for Psyshock to better accommodate against Blissey, Clodsire, and SpD Toxapex - which otherwise would be freely switching in against Flutter Mane. Psyshock would be recommended more due to the inability to break through SpD Clodsire and being stone walled by it.
  • Tera Fairy grants Flutter Mane can Terastallize into the Fairy type to maximise it's further increase its damage output. This can be switched out for Tera Ghost to 2HKO Opposing Corviknight and maximise damage output with an often unresisted shadow ball.
  • Hazard Control is also very crucial for Flutter Mane to be switched in successfully. As hazards often limit the common switch-ins Flutter Mane could otherwise do to Ting-Lu, Clodsire, Corv, etc. Allowing Ting-Lu to KO Flutter Mane after hazards, making hazard control crucial for Flutter Mane. (Hazards are not as relevant to the Choice Specs set)
  • The optimal playstyle of Flutter Mane is through potent doubles and pivoting around through the likes of Corviknight. Also, (This is fairly self-explanatory) Flutter Mane can be used functions as a great wallbreaker and revenge killer. an excellent end-game cleaner, taking advantage of crippled cores to OHKO many of the weakened Pokemon.
  • Koraidon is a great offensive teammate for Flutter Mane, setting up the valuable sun for it to be faster due to Protosynthesis, allowing it to outspeed in crucial 1-1 matchups ; such as non-scarfed Miraidon / Chien-Pao. Koraidon can also pressure the often Specially defensive inclined checks for Flutter Mane, helping it to break easier in the end-game. Flutter Mane pairs extremely well with Koraidon as the latter can set up sun to further boost Flutter Mane's already impressive Speed stat. Koraidon U-Turn's on its common switch-ins, such as Skeledirge and Defensive Great Tusk - which Flutter Mane can exploit. Koraidon can also U-turn out of physical wall switch-ins such as Great Tusk and Skeledirge, which Flutter Mane can threaten.
  • Corviknight can also help Flutter Mane, as it can wall against the usual switch-ins to it, namely Iron Treads, Clodsire, and Blissey. Corviknight can also U-Turn out to maintain offensive momentum, and allow Flutter Mane to come in more often to break. It has access to defog too, keeping the hazards in control. Physically defensive Corviknight can come in on attacks that target Flutter Mane's weaker physical defenses, while also providing it safe entry via a slow U-turn.
  • Flutter Mane is a premier wall breaker and is generally suited well with offensive and pivoting partners as a whole. Flutter Mane is further benefited by hazard setters and physically offensive attackers, as This set appreciates entry hazard support from such Offensive Great Tusk, becomes a great teammate, being able to which can also threaten Flutter Mane's checks such as Clodsire and Blissey. deal with the likes of Corviknight, Clodsire, and Blissey.
  • Heavy-Duty Boosts Chien-Pao paired with this also allows Flutter Mane to break past the specially-defensive centric cores that trouble Flutter Mane, breaking through all of these defense-lacking cores.
