Is it possible this could still be a thing? Looks like player base was a concern about a year ago, but I feel like Survivor has been popping lately, and there might be some overlap in interest to this. Being able to show up on the News tab on PS! seems to help as well. To get things going, I feel like the following needs to be done:
  • Finalize categories. Possibly create a poll to see which categories have the most interest, or if there even an overall interest in this type of 'tournament'.
  • Select officials for certain categories that require it. For example, for puzzle hunt puzzles, there would have to be someone that creates the weekly puzzle(s). Also would need a general commissioner. If DLE is not wanting to, I would like a shot at this position.
  • Decide on team size and amount of teams.
  • Decide on managers.
  • Decide how teams are formed. Like SPL (money system)? Snake draft? Freely formed? What are the team names?
  • Decide format of tournament and how a winning team is ultimately decided.
  • Miscellaneous rules, like if managers can also be players, subbing players, retains, activity wins, how much are teammates allowed to help in another's category.
I foresee the first time around this might start out with fewer teams and players, but it would build up after, and might become something bigger and more prestigious each successive season.

Just had the idea that team names could be based off of game types found in Circus. Examples: The Mafia Murkrows, The Survivor Sevipers, The Walrus Walreins. Maybe they don't have to be alliterative or have Pokemon in their name, or maybe they do.

Yeah this is a good idea that does need to be revised imo, main topic for me is games that people will A) want to play and B) can actually be played in a competitive environment. Can't really play survivor of mafia in a 1v1 format.

I’d recommend that whoever is interested in commisionering should just throw up a signups thread instead of trying to make these tactical decisions by committee

There is more to this than throwing a sign-up thread for sure and planning is needed, though maybe we should just organise a smaller team rather than trying to do it in thread
