Both of your tribes have chosen a guesser for this game. That guesser has been temporarily removed from your Tribal Discords. You may still converse with them about strategy and alliances, but under no circumstance can you even MENTION anything related to the challenge to them. Nothing in jest, and definitely nothing about behavior during the challenge (strategy, signals, or throwing). Please do not ruin the game! There will be zero lenience for violation.

In this challenge, you will be playing a modified form of Codenames, adapted to forum play. Here is how it will work. The six members on each tribe that are not guessers will get 7 different boards. Each board has 16 words, of which 2 of them are the correct ones. You must think of a one word English hint that will clue your guesser in on what the correct words are (using Marriam Webster’s online dictionary). Here is an example. Suppose your board is:

And the correct words are “apple” and “grass”. In this case, a reasonable hint might be “farm”.

You will create hints for all 7 of your boards. This phase will last 24 hours starting from this post.

While this is happening, the guessers for both tribes will schedule a time to play this game live, after the 24 hours have elapsed.

Here is how the live portion of the game will work. I will first reveal a board and the associated one-word hint for tribe Rufflet: in this example, I will show the board above, along with the hint “farm”. The guesser for tribe Rufflet gets to guess three cards on the board: if the two correct answers are within the three cards, then he will win a point for his tribe. In the example above, a guesser might choose “straw, grass, apple”, and he would win a point.

If he does NOT guess the two correct answers (i.e. “straw, turkey, grass”), then the guesser for tribe Vullaby gets to have a shot at it. This continues until one guesser gets the two correct answers.

The next board and hint revealed will be for tribe Vullaby, and the guesser for tribe Vullaby will get first guess. This continues until one guesser scores 8 points. In the event of a 7-7 tie, the tribe whose boards were guessed in the least amount of guesses wins. If this is the same, then we go into sudden death (details to come)

The boards for each tribe have been posted below. The correct answers have been posted in your discords. You have 24 hours to submit your clues.

The guessers for each tribe have agreed on 9pm, tomorrow Central time (24 hours from the ABOVE post).

I will be hosting the challenge in a server, link will be posted in this thread at some point in time. People are welcome to join to spectate (and encouraged to!) but may not speak in the server.

If we go to sudden death, it will be good to have some members from your tribe be online at the time.
 
In an exciting 1 hour battle, Aura Guardian and Zorbees tied 7-7 on boards. 53 guesses total were used on Rufflet boards, while 41 were used on Vullaby boards. According to the rules of the tiebreak, Vullabies win.

Rufflets, you have been sent to Tribal Council. You have until 9pm Central tomorrow to submit your votes.
 
The tribal council deadline has been changed to tomorrow at 5pm Central, and the next challenge will be up immediately after. So tribal council will last a day as usual.

My apologies I wanted to give a better start time for the challenge, but I completely forgot about a prior commitment I have tomorrow night.

Survivors, come on in. Vullaby tribe are getting their first look at the new Rufflet tribe: ajhockeystar voted out at the last tribal council.

You’ll be playing soccer in today’s challenge. Here’s how it will work. A survivor from tribe A may launch a shot at tribe B by posting “[Survivor] shoots at tribe B” in this thread. A survivor from tribe B may block a shot from survivor from tribe A by posting “[Survivor] blocks [Survivor]’s shot”. The time in minutes it took for the shot to be blocked will be added onto tribe A’s score. The tribe with the higher total score wins.

Each survivor may only block and shoot once in this challenge.

To illustrate, suppose Alan and Betty are on Tribe Early. Yvette and Zygarde are on Tribe Late. A game might proceed like this.

Alan: “Alan shoots at Tribe Late” 1:00pm
Betty: “Betty shoots at Tribe Late” 1:15pm
Yvette: “Yvette blocks Alan’s shot” 1:30pm (30 points for Tribe Early)
Yvette: “Yvette shoots at Tribe Early” 1:30pm
Alan: “Alan blocks Yvette’s shot” 1:45 pm (15 points for Tribe Late)
Zygarde: “Zygarde blocks Betty’s shot” 2:00pm (45 minutes for Tribe Early)

At the end of this sequence of events, Tribe Early gains 75 points, Tribe Late gains 15 points. Alan has no shot and no block so he sits out for the rest of the game. Yvette also has no shot and no block, so she sits out for the rest of the game. Betty has no shot, but can still block. Zygarde has no block, but can still shoot.

In 24 hours the game will end and all outstanding shots will be blocked.

Any erroneous block results in your block being used, so make sure you refresh your page, or else you may block a shot that your tribemate has already blocked!

Do not misunderstand this challenge. This is not a challenge about maximizing your activity (though it obviously helps)...it is a challenge about coordination and about creating the best strategy given the activity levels of people on your tribe.

You have 1 hour to read the rules. Vullabies, you must sit someone out by posting in this thread in that time. After that, we'll begin.

A few clarifications. (updated FAQ)

You may post anything in the thread as usual.

You may obscure your shot or your block in any way you'd like. But at some point in the post (not in a hide tag, not in a broken url), the post must VISIBLY contain the exact lines for a shot or a block (as specified above).

White text is fine.

You may not edit your post at all. Anybody caught editing their post even in the first 5 minutes will be immediatley kicked from the game. I am online a lot.

Good question. I'll laugh. It will not be counted as a shot. Every shot MUST CONTAIN: “[Survivor] shoots at Tribe X”, Survivor being your own name on smogon, X being Vullabies or Rufflets. This must be exact

Every block MUST CONTAIN: “[Survivor] blocks [Survivor]’s shot”, with the first [Survivor] being your own name on smogon, the second [Survivor] being the shooter's name on smogon. This must be exact, but I will not pay attention to punctuation with regards to blocks.

Q: Plural or Singular Vullabies vs Vullaby?
A: Either. It really should be Tribe Vullaby and Tribe Rufflet but I made a mistake.

Q: What happens if someone posts a shot or a block when they don't have a shot or a block? What if they post anything else?
I'll ignore it.

Q: What happens if the text for shooting is in a picture, or in a creepypasta font?
IT WILL NOT COUNT. The shot and block text must be in font/size/color available on smogon.

IF I WERE ON TRIBE VULLABY, THE ONLY TWO VALID SHOTS I CAN MAKE IS A POST CONTAINING ONE OF THESE PHRASES: "apricity shoots at Tribe Rufflets", or "apricity shoots at Tribe Rufflet"
"Apricity shoots at Tribe Rufflets", "apricity shoots at TribeaRufflets" are all invalid shots.
