Clean Slate

My Mega Metagross wins the final slate:
metagross-mega.gif

Pokemon: Mega-Metagross
Roles: Offensive Pivot, Mixed Wallbreaker, Aurora Veil Setter
Type: Psychic / Ice
Ability: Snow Warning
Mega Stats: 80 / 140 / 110 / 115 / 75 / 95 (+15 Atk, +5 Def, +50 SpA, +10 SpD, +20 Spe)
New Moves: Blizzard, Aurora Veil
Justification: Very weak defensive typing, but packs a strong Blizzard AND Aurora Veil (albeit for only 4 turns). Also using this on HO means you are missing out on Mega Shark.

This means, barring extreme balance needs, Clean Slate is done with submissions. For the future, we have resources to flesh out (whether that be analyses, teams, VR comments, guides, whatever really) before the Grand Slam, and after that I would like to have a Clean Slate V2, in which a new micrometa is built. Good job everyone!

Clean Slate Suspect: Kommo-O
(and metagross shhhhh)

Hey everyone, it's your old friend leonard (from big bang theory). Clean Slate is going to be the first slot in the pet mods grand slam. While the metagame is mostly balanced, me and Scoopapa have both agreed that Soulblaze Kommo-o is potentially problematic. Metagross-Mega is also getting looked at due to potentially being overbearing when used on offensive teams. So, I'm holding a suspect test to determine whether or not these 2 pokemon need balancing.

How to qualify to vote:
Post at least 4 replays of you winning a Clean Slate match against at least 3 different opponents. These matches need to be new, no using existing matches. Using Kommo-o and Metagross is not required, but experiencing these 2 mons is encouraged to inform your vote. You can ask for matches on our discord or just lurk around on Dragon Heaven and try to find an opponent. Batterbotto does not count.

Voting Options:
Kommo-o: Remove Clanging Scales OR Leave as is
Metagross-Mega: Remove Aurora Veil OR Leave as is OR Remove Blizzard

Deadline for voting is the 2nd of May.

Ok so the Open date came way faster than any of us on council expected, so...

Both Aurora Veil on Metagross and Clanging Scales on Kommo-O has been removed.

Oh and Flaaffy is being nerfed by -5 Def and -20 SpD because that thing is hella dumb

Some things that stood out to me:

This guy managed to get 3rd place in usage with his 2 forms combined, and with a positive winrate. I believe base was used more than Mega, but both had solid showings and very different counters from each other, giving Metagross a Charizard X/Y type advantage. I could see both forms rising on our final VR due to this alone (not to mention Mega Metagross can pack Explosion in slot 4, which always OHKOes Milotic with just 4 EVs).

Only 1 use behind Nihilego- Now that's surprising. While Forretress has always had high usage, this Open really showed a spike for its usage. The fact that it has so much flexibility as a hazard removal option (thanks to Milotic for hurting Druddigon usage) and just generally slots into virtually any team makes it a great pick, potentially on par with Nihi.

#6 in usage, uh oh

CM mew is probably broken...

Feel free to discuss any trends or observations you've noticed!
