NU Comfey

[OVERVIEW]

Comfey's great offensive typing in Fairy combined with Triage priority moves such as Draining Kiss and Giga Drain helps it revenge kill many offensive threats like Passimian, Sneasel, and Medicham. The combination of Calm Mind and good priority options also makes Comfey a threatening late-game sweeper, and access to support moves such as Taunt, Leech Seed, and Aromatherapy gives it further niches. However, due to its lackluster physical bulk, Comfey often struggles to switch into even neutral physical moves, especially if lacking Synthesis. Its relatively weak moves also mean that Comfey has to rely on its ability to set up to break down opposing teams and that it generally struggles to break through the tier's common defensive walls such as Incineroar, Vileplume, and Torterra. It also has a hard time breaking the tier's Poison-types like Garbodor and Golbat.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Draining Kiss gives Comfey a priority STAB move that lets it hit Fighting-types such as Passimian and Medicham for super effective damage. Giga Drain gives it an option to hit bulky Water-types like Slowbro and Vaporeon and Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon and Piloswine with priority and recover HP from them. Calm Mind helps it boost its power and bulk to clean up more easily late-game or potentially break more efficiently mid-game. Hidden Power Fire gives Comfey a way to damage Steel-types like Steelix, Klinklang, Ferroseed, and Silvally-Steel for super effective damage. Alternatively, Hidden Power Ice enables Comfey to break Torterra and Golbat more easily, while Synthesis gives Comfey a reliable way of recovery, giving it multiple opportunities to set up and defensively pivot into attacks. Both of these options mean giving up a coverage move, though, which Comfey dislikes.

Set Details
========

20 Speed EVs allow Comfey to outspeed maximum Speed Jolly Incineroar, while maximum Special Attack investment and a Modest nature make it as powerful as possible. The leftover EVs are pumped into HP to help Comfey set up more easily and potentially use its good defensive typing in a pinch. Life Orb boosts Comfey's generally lackluster damage output to help its offensive prowess. Triage helps it revenge kill faster attackers with Draining Kiss or Giga Drain.

Usage Tips
========

Use Comfey as a revenge killer for certain setup sweepers like Scrafty and Omastar and Choice Scarf users like Passimian. Weaken its answers early-game by using Hidden Power on turns where you predict a Steel-type to come in. Try to have a teammate Toxic Pokemon that can potentially trouble Comfey. Comfey can occasionally come in on Choice-locked Pokemon like Sneasel and Passimian. However, Comfey should not be switched into attacks recklessly, as that can hinder it from setting up later in the game. Set up Calm Mind late game to break through Comfey's weakened checks and counters; without doing so, removing walls like Cryogonal and Torterra becomes impossible.

Team Options
========

Probopass makes a nice partner thanks to trapping Steelix and potentially Ferroseed and setting Stealth Rock, chipping the opposing team, and opening up Comfey's fourth moveslot for Hidden Power Ice or a support move like Taunt or Synthesis. A Spikes setter;in the form of Ferroseed or Garbodor;helps weaken the opposing team further for Comfey to have an easier time cleaning, with both also helping defensively against Poison-types and Ferroseed acting as a switch in to Steel-types. Choice Scarf Passimian serves as a reliable check to Swords Dance Incineroar, which otherwise comfortably takes advantage of Comfey. It can also potentially gain momentum to get Comfey in safely on different Fighting-type switch-ins that additionally pressure Steel types such as other Fairy-types like Diancie and Whimsicott as well as Vanilluxe and offensive Grass-types like Sceptile help weaken Comfey's answers for an easier late-game sweep. Comfey appreciates answers to common Poison-types like Garbodor and Vileplume if lacking a super effective Hidden Power, which is done well by Golbat for both and the likes of Slowbro and Palossand to answer Garbodor.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Taunt can be run on the Calm Mind set to break down walls with recovery or Toxic like Cryogonal and Miltank. Hidden Power Ground hits Poison- and Fire-types like Incineroar, Garbodor, and Delphox super effectively while still hitting all relevant Steel-types other than Ferroseed for super effective damage. Choice Specs sets can be run for superior wallbreaking with U-turn or Trick in the fourth moveslot. U-turn, especially when paired with Probopass, can help remove annoying Steel-types much more easily for Comfey to run wild. Aromatherapy can help Comfey act as a cleric for the team, but it's outclassed by several other Pokemon in that role. Substitute + Leech Seed can be annoying for some teams to deal with. A physically defensive set with Draining Kiss, Synthesis, Taunt and a filler move can let Comfey act as a defensive Pokemon. A 3 attacks Defog set equipped with Life Orb can also be run to let Comfey dish out powerful attacks and remove entry hazards at the same time.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Poison-types**: Vileplume, Golbat, and Garbodor can safely switch into Comfey variants lacking a super effective Hidden Power and reliably KO it.

**Steel-types**: Silvally-Steel, Steelix, Klinklang, and Ferroseed can comfortably switch into Comfey variants lacking a super effective Hidden Power.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Pokemon like Miltank, Cryogonal, Torterra, and bulky Incineroar variants can switch into Comfey comfortably and either Toxic or damage it.

**Fire-types**: Fire types like Toxic or Calm Mind Delphox and Taunt Magmortar come in safely and take advantage of Comfey.

[OVERVIEW]

comfey serves with a great offensive typing in fairy combined with triage priority moves such as draining kiss and gigadrain help it revenge kill many offensive threats like passimian, sneasel and sandslash. sandslash is dead
this also makes comfey a good end game wincon
with access to calm mind, even its lackluster offenses make comfey a threat to consider.
support moves like taunt leechseed or aromatherapy give it further niches this seems more like oo material than overview tho you only ever mention taunt out of all these moves anywhere else in the analysis
lackluster defenses
relatively weak moves (50bp kiss, 75bp gdrain, hidden power)
hard time breaking through prominent defensive steel types in the tier such as lix, aloslash, steelvally

[SET]

move 2: Giga Drain
move 3: Calm Mind
move 4: Taunt/ Hidden Power [Ground] me thinks hp ground is better first slash but eh

Moves
========

Draining Kiss gives a priority Stab move
Giga Drain gives it an option to hit bulky water and ground types such as? with priority and recover HP from it
Calm Mind helps it up its power and clean easier late game
Hidden Power [Ground] gives it a way to damage poison types like Garbodor, and hit Incineroar, Steelix, Klinklang and Silvally-Steel for super effective damage
Taunt gives comfey a way to avoid status and break down opposing walls reverse order of these last two points since you slashed taunt first

Set Details
========

Life Orb helps its generally lackluster damage output
240 Speed EVs allow it to outspeed Jolly/Timid Toxicroak
252 SpA with modest nature makes it as powerful as possible
the leftover evs are pumped into bulk because they arent needed elsewhere
mention what triage does here too
perhaps also mention a bulkier spread that runs just enough speed to outpace positive natured base 60s - comfey in general is p customizable in regards to its speed

Usage Tips
========

use comfey as a revege killer for certain set up sweepers like weakened curselee, shell smash omastar and choice scarf users like passimian
calm mind up late game if it's checks and counters are weakened or dead
comfey can occasionally be used as a switch in to sneasel, though u have to be aware of icicle crash
comfey can act as a fighting resist switching into the likes of passimian and hitmonlee, and some hariyama variants, though its bulk isnt great

Team Options
========

Probopass makes a nice partner thanks to trapping steelix and potentially ferroseed and setting rocks, chipping the opposing team just blanket mention steels and give some examples here since even things like klanger are annoying to break through
spikes (in form of ferroseed or garbodor) help weakening the opposing team further for comfey to have an easier time cleaning I'd mention these two also help comfey defensively, ferro coming in on poison and steel moves well and garb helping against stuff like croaker
scarf passimian serves a reliable check to incineroar, which otherwise comfortably takes advantage of comfey lacking hp ground, and can gain momentum to get comfey in
mons that pressure steeltypes (diancie, whimsicott, plate ice cream) help weaken comfeys answers for an easier late/end game scenario diancie is dead
comfey appreciates answers to common poison types (croak, garb, plume) if lacking a se hidden power, which is done well by golbat, palosand and bro for croak and garb slowbro is not a good answer for croak imo since it's v dependent on croak's set

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

hidden power fire - ferro, aloslash, still lix,plume, but not garb incin
hp psychic - ohkos croak and damages golbat garb and plume but misses out on steels and incin completely
synthesis - sustain to potentially set up more often and keep healthy throughout the game
choice specs sets can be run for superior wallbreaking with uturn or trick as the fourth moveslot
taunt + synthesis can act as a stallbreaker, but its generally speaking very inferior to its other sets
sub seed may deserve note down here as well as aromatherapy since you mentioned it in overview

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel Types**: steelvally, steelix ,aloslash, klinklang and probopass can comfortably switch into comfey variants lacking a SE hidden power

**poison types**: plume, golbat and garbodor can switch in safely into comfey variants lacking hidden power ground or psychic and reliably kill it

**specially defensive walls**: mons like miltank, gigalith and torterra can switch into comfey comfortably and toxic it (if its lacking taunt) or damage it gigalith is dead

**fire types**: fire types like delphox, incineroar and magmortar come in safely and take advantage of comfeys lacking hp ground

Draining Kiss gives a priority Stab move
Giga Drain gives it an option to hit bulky water types with priority and recover HP from it It is also a neutral hit vs Lix, which is incredibly important to note; while you do have HP Ground, being able to do like 30% to Lix with Giga is really useful for any set not running HP.
Calm Mind helps it up its power and clean easier late game And its bulk.
Hidden Power [Ground] gives it a way to damage poison types like Garbodor, and hit Incineroar, Steelix, Klinklang and Silvally-Steel for super effective damage
Taunt gives comfey a way to avoid status and break down opposing walls
Slash Synthesis; its a viable set.

252 SpA with modest nature makes it as powerful as possible

the leftover evs are pumped into bulk because they arent needed elsewhere
you can adjust the ev spread aswell to outspeed base 60s with a boosting nature to up its bulk while still outspeeding incineroar and stuff that aims for that speedtier EVs: 236 HP / 252 SpA / 20 Spe with a modest nature
Change the spread to the fatter one.

Note that it often wants to preserve its HP to set up successfully, so swapping into attacks hsould be done as a last resort, rather than a first one; a 20% HP comfey ain't setting up vs anything it doesn't scare out.

**specially defensive walls**: mons like miltank, gigalith and torterra can switch into comfey comfortably and toxic it (if its lacking taunt) or damage it. Not 100% sure this deserves to be a big mention; as they can be really iffy, and ex. if it is running Taunt, it does a big number to it. Though do mention Cryogonal, as its faster, and Toxics before it gets Taunted.

**fire types**: fire types like delphox, incineroar and magmortar come in safely and take advantage of comfeys lacking hp ground. Barring crits or Taunt a number of the special ones here don't really do all that well vs it.
Implement this stuff, update the mons mentioned (see Croak being here), and I'll give it another look over (and likely a stamp). You may also want to make the spelling/grammar/punctuation/capitalization easier to read, for the eventual GP check.

I don't have a comp atm but I'll work on it.

removed croak mention

one thing not mentioned at all that I like is u-turn w/ Pixie Plate, can let you get probo in on lix easier if youre running that and is generally useful early to midgame. Worth an OO mention at least.

golbat isnt a mon add something else that threatens poisons more effectively pls

Ferroseed should be mentioned in counters w/ the other steel types as it has even less to fear from comfey due to ground neutrality

still saw a croaker in there so remove that

2/3 tho

  • relatively weak moves (50bp kiss, 75bp gdrain, hidden power) mention Comfey really relies on boosting to actually break stuff because of this
  • hard time breaking through prominent defensive steel types in the tier such as lix, aloslash, steelvally this is sorta untrue. aloslash gets clapped by hp fire and even steelix takes upwards of 50% from just life orb-boosted hp fire. maybe mention instead just common specially defensive Pokemon like Incineroar and friends

Draining Kiss gives Comfey a priority STAB move that lets it hit fighting types such as Passimian and Medicham for super effective damage. Giga Drain gives it an option to hit bulky water types with priority and Steelix for neutral damage and recover HP from it. probably should mention something other than Steelix since it's already in the Steel-types list Calm Mind helps it up its power and bulk to clean easier late game or potentially break more efficiently mid game.
Hidden Power [Fire] no brackets (this should be fixed throughout) gives it a way to damage steel types like Steelix, Klinklang, Ferroseed and Silvally-Steel for super effective damage.
Taunt gives comfey a way to avoid status and break down opposing walls. "break down opposing walls" maybe be more explicit with this ideaSynthesis gives comfey a reliable way of recovery, giving it multiple opportunities to set up and defensively pivot into attacks. Both of these options mean giving up a coverage move though, which Comfey dislikes.

Set Details
========

Life Orb helps boost its generally lackluster damage output to help its offensive prowess. 20 speed EVs allow it to outspeed max speed jolly Incineroar. 252 SpA with Modest nature makes it as powerful as possible. Triage helps it revenge kill faster attackers with Draining Kiss or Giga Drain. The leftover EVs are pumped into HP because they aren't needed elsewhere and they maximize Comfey's bulk, which helps it set up easier and potentially use its good defensive typing in a pinch. this reads pretty clunky. I think you should start with the Speed EVs mention and what they do, and then you can just address the SpA EVs, nature, and HP EVs in the next bit and what they do.

(remove linebreak)
Usage Tips
========

Use comfey as a revege killer for certain set up sweepers like weakened Curse Hitmonlee, Shell Smash Omastar and Choice Scarf users like Passimian there are definitely better examples you can use for setup sweepers. Weaken its answers early game by using Hidden Power on turns where you predict a steel type to come in or Toxic Pokemon that can potentially trouble Comfey with the help of its teammates this second bit is incredibly hard to understand. what does "Toxic Pokemon" mean? rn it reads like you're saying Comfey should use Toxic. Comfey can occasionally be used as a switch in to Sneasel, though have to be aware of Icicle Crash this point is not very useful on its own. perhaps you could mention how Comfey can gain opportunities to switch-in versus Choice-locked Pokemon like Sneasel, Passimian, and anything else that seems fair. Comfey can act as a fighting resist, switching into the likes of Passimian and Hariyama variants, though its bulk isnt great yeah I'd just cut this bit out. not very relevant or useful if you make the previously suggested chance. Comfey should not be switched into attacks recklessly though, as that can hinder it from setting up later in the game. Calm Mind up late game to break through its weakened checks and counters. Without Calm Mind killing walls like Cryogonal and Torterra becomes impossible.

Team Options
========

Probopass makes a nice partner thanks to trapping Steelix and potentially Ferroseed and setting rocks, chipping the opposing team, and opening up Comfey's 4th moveslot for a different Hidden Power or a support move like Taunt or Synthesis tbh the only other HP Comfey should ever consider is Ice, so state that is what Probopass lets Comfey use and what it does. Spikes - in form of Ferroseed or Garbodor - help weak the opposing team further for Comfey to have an easier time cleaning, both also helping defensively against Poison types and Ferroseed also acts as a Steel resist. Scarf Passimian serves as a reliable check to Incineroar, which otherwise comfortably takes advantage of Comfey and can gain momentum to get Comfey in safely I think Incineroar still runs Fire Blast > Flare Blitz most commonly on the Berry set, meaning Comfey actually deals with it alright. Pokemon that additionally pressure Steel types such as other fairies like Diancie and Whimsicott aswell as Vanilluxe and offensive grass types like Sceptile help weaken Comfeys answers for an easier late/end game scenario. Comfey appreciates answers to common Poison Types like Garbodor or Vileplume if lacking a super-effective Hidden Power, which is done well by Golbat for both and partners such as Slowbro and Palosand to answer Garbodor.

Hidden Power [Ground] hits Poison and Fire Types like Incineroar, Garbodor and Delphox super-effectively while still hitting all relevant Steel Types other than Ferroseed for super-effective damage change this to Hidden Power Ice and mention what that hits. Choice specs sets can be run for superior wallbreaking with U-Turn or Trick in the fourth moveslot. U-Turn, especially paired with Probopass, can help remove annoying Steel Types much easier for Comfey to run wild. Aromatherapy can help Comfey act as a cleric for the team but it's outclassed by several other Pokemon in that role. Substitute + Leech Seed can be annoying for some teams to deal with. A physically defensive set can be run with Draining Kiss/ Synthesis/ Taunt/ and a filler move, to have it act as a defensive pokemon. A 3 attacks defog set equipped with a life orb can also be ran to dish out powerful attacks and remove hazards at the same time.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel Types**: Silvally-Steel, Steelix, Alolan Sandslash, Klinklang, Ferroseed and Probopass can comfortably switch into Comfey variants lacking a super effective Hidden Power too many examples. move this section to under the specially defensive walls one, since HP Fire chips all of these down super easily lol.

**Poison Types**: Vileplume, Golbat and Garbodor can switch in safely into comfey variants lacking Hidden Power Ground and reliably kill it. Choice Scarf Passimian's Gunk Shot also OHKOs Comfey whereas Comfey fails to KO Passimian without a Calm Mind boost and the help of a Life Orb. HP Ground Comfey is not used any amount worth considering tbh. It's HP Fire or bust (or occasionally Ice). Remove Passimian from this section; it's not a Poison-type.

**Specially Defensive walls**: Pokemon like Miltank, Cryogonal, Torterra and bulky Incineroar variants can switch into Comfey comfortably and either Toxic or damage it.

**Fire Types**: Fire types like Calm Mind Delphox and Magmortar with Taunt come in safely and take advantage of Comfeys lacking Hidden Power [Ground] it isn't just CM Delphox; any Toxic variant can rly mess up Comfey
make sure to add in the credits section too. 3/3

[OVERVIEW]

Comfey's serves with a great offensive typing in Fairy (RC) combined with Triage priority moves such as Draining Kiss and Giga Drain help helps it revenge kill many offensive threats like Passimian, Sneasel, (AC) and Medicham. The combination of Calm Mind and good priority options make also makes Comfey a threatening end-game win condition late-game sweeper, and Comfey's access to support moves such as Taunt, Leech Seed, (AC) or and Aromatherapy give gives it further niches. However, due to its lackluster physical defense bulk, Comfey often struggles to switch into even neutral physical moves, especially if lacking Synthesis. It's Its relatively weak moves also mean that Comfey has to rely on its ability to set up in order to break down opposing teams and that This also means it generally struggles to break through the tiers tier's common defensive walls such as Incineroar, Vileplume, (AC) and Torterra. It also has a hard time breaking the tiers tier's Poison-types (AH) like Garbodor and Golbat.

Moves
========

Draining Kiss gives Comfey a priority STAB move that lets it hit Fighting-types (AH) such as Passimian and Medicham for super effective damage. Giga Drain gives it an option to hit bulky Water-types with priority and Stealth Rock setters like Rhydon and Piloswine with priority and recover HP from it them. Calm Mind helps it up boost its power and bulk to clean easier up more easily late-game (AH) or potentially break more efficiently mid-game. (AH) Hidden Power Fire gives it a way to damage Steel-types (AH) like Steelix, Klinklang, Ferroseed and Silvally-Steel for super effective damage. Alternatively, Hidden Power Ice enables Comfey to break Torterra and Golbat easier more easily, (comma) while Synthesis gives Comfey a reliable way of recovery, giving it multiple opportunities to set up and defensively pivot into attacks. Both of these options mean giving up a coverage move, (AC) though, which Comfey dislikes.

Set Details
========

20 Speed EVs allow it Comfey to outspeed maximum Speed Jolly Incineroar, (AC) with 252 SpA while maximum Special Attack investment and a Modest nature to boost it makes make it as powerful as possible. The leftover EVs are pumped into HP because they aren't needed elsewhere and they maximize Comfey's bulk, which helps it to help Comfey set up easier more easily and potentially use its good defensive typing in a pinch. Life Orb boosts its generally lackluster damage output to help its offensive prowess. (Pixie Plate is a slash too) Triage helps it revenge kill faster attackers with Draining Kiss or Giga Drain.

Usage Tips
========

Use Comfey as a revege revenge killer for certain set up setup sweepers like Scrafty and Omastar and Choice Scarf users like Passimian. Weaken its answers early-game (AH) by using Hidden Power on turns where you predict a Steel-type (AH) to come in. Try to have a teammate Toxic Pokemon that can potentially trouble Comfey with the help of its teammates.(space)Comfey can occasionally come in on Choice-locked (AH) Pokemon like Sneasel or and Passimian. Comfey should not be switched into attacks recklessly, (AC) though, as that can hinder it from setting up later in the game. Set up Calm Mind up late-game (AH) to break through its Comfey's weakened checks and counters; (SC) without Calm Mind killing doing so, removing walls like Cryogonal and Torterra becomes impossible.

Team Options
========

Probopass makes a nice partner thanks to trapping Steelix and potentially Ferroseed and setting rocks Stealth Rock, chipping the opposing team, and opening up Comfey's 4th fourth moveslot for Hidden Power Ice or a support move like Taunt or Synthesis. A Spikes setter—in the form of Ferroseed or Garbodor—helps weaken the opposing team further for Comfey to have an easier time cleaning, with both also helping defensively against Poison-types (AH) and Ferroseed also acts acting as a Steel resist switch-in. Choice Scarf Passimian serves as a reliable check to Swords Dance Incineroar, which otherwise comfortably takes advantage of Comfey. It can also potentially gain momentum to get Comfey in safely on different fighting resists Fighting switch-ins. Pokemon that additionally pressure Steel-types (AH) such as other Fairies like Diancie and Whimsicott aswell as well as Vanilluxe and offensive Grass-types (AH) like Sceptile help weaken Comfeys Comfey's answers for an easier late/end game scenario late-game sweep. Comfey appreciates answers to common Poison-types (AH) like Garbodor or and Vileplume if lacking a super effective (RH) Hidden Power, which is done well by Golbat for both and partners such as the likes of Slowbro and Palosand Palossand to answer Garbodor.

Other Options
=============

Taunt can be ran on the Calm Mind set to break down walls with recovery or Toxic like Cryogonal or and Miltank. Hidden Power [Ground] Ground hits Poison- (AH) and Fire-types (AH) like Incineroar, Garbodor and Delphox super effectively (RH) while still hitting all relevant Steel-types (AH) other than Ferroseed for super effective (RH) damage. Choice Specs sets can be run for superior wallbreaking with U-turn or Trick in the fourth moveslot. U-turn, especially paired with Probopass, can help remove annoying Steel-types (AH) much easier more easily for Comfey to run wild. Aromatherapy can help Comfey act as a cleric for the team, (AC) but it's outclassed by several other Pokemon in that role. Substitute + Leech Seed can be annoying for some teams to deal with. A physically defensive set can be run with Draining Kiss, (comma) Synthesis, (comma) Taunt, (comma) and a filler move (RP) to have it can act as a defensive pokemon. A 3 attacks Defog set equipped with a Life Orb can also be ran run to dish out powerful attacks and remove entry hazards at the same time.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Poison-types**: (AH) Vileplume, Golbat, (AC) and Garbodor can safely switch in safely into Comfey variants lacking a super effective Hidden Power and can reliably kill KO it.

**Steel-types**: (AH) Silvally-Steel, Steelix, Klinklang, (AC) and Ferroseed can comfortably switch into Comfey variants lacking a super effective Hidden Power. (AP)

**Specially Defensive walls**: Pokemon like Miltank, Cryogonal, Torterra, (AC) and bulky Incineroar variants can switch into Comfey comfortably and either Toxic or damage it.

**Fire-types**: (AH) Fire types like Toxic or Calm Mind Delphox with Toxic or Calm Mind and Taunt Magmortar with Taunt come in safely and take advantage of Comfey.
