I started playing Pokemon along time ago. After starting to watch videos of online battles I decided I wanted to go competitive. I'm really new to the competitive seen but this team has really seemed to work on the games I have had. I still need some help and see if anyone had suggestions. Thanks in advance.
First Glance:
MonkeySmack (Ambipom) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Jolly nature (+Spe, -SpAtk)
- Fake Out
- U-Turn
- Double Hit
- Pursuit
Ambipom has been working great as a lead. Fake Out is STAB that takes advantage of Technician and with Life Orb damage can deal a decent amount of damage before they can setup. U-Turn allows me to switch in to good counters after the flinch. Double Hit is another STAB that gets a Technician boost that can usually give the damage to non-defensive pokemon after a Fake Out to be KO'd. Pursuit is just on the set for the Ghost pokemon that like to come in on Fake Outs.
ShortCircuit (Jolteon) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpAtk/252 Spe
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power(Ice)
- Baton Pass
Jolteon is my Special Sweeper without a doubt. Thunderbolt is STAB that can deal with Flying and Water types without an issue. Shadow Ball is for Ghost and Psychic while Hidden Power Ice can deal with Latias and other dragons that like to sweep through my team.
Mildue (Vaporeon) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP/252 Def/68 Spe
Timid nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Surf
- Toxic
- Wish
- Protect
Vaporeon is set to be my wall. I switch into Ice attacks that try to take out my dragons and Toxic for passive damage. Wish is healing move for Vaporeon and my team while Protect helps stall or make sure that Wish goes into affect.
ZOMGiFly (Salamence) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Jolly nature (+Spe, -SpAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Brick Break
Salamence is the first of my Physical sweepers. When Salamence first comes in, he usually causes a switch, which allows me to set up a Dragon Dance. Once boosted, sweeping is easy with Outrage. Earthquake is in for the few steels which can come in to attempt to wall. While Brick Break takes care of Tyranitar, Ice-types, and can break walls set up.
MoveOutTehWai (Scizor) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Jolly nature (+Spe, -SpAtk)
- Sword Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- U-Turn
Scizor is the main sweeping force in OU today. With Bullet Punch, Technician and Life Orb, Scizor is not one to be messed with. I went for a more speedy approach with this Scizor to be able to outspeed opposing Scizors. SD allows for be to build on Scizors already respectable Atk stat. Bullet Punch is STAB, Technician abusing move that will go first. Superpunch is for the Pokemon that resist Bullet Punch while U-turn allows me to scout.
MonsterBeater (Dragonite) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 112 Atk/200 Spe/196 Spe
Rash nature (+SpAtk, -SpDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Superpower
- Thunderbolt
Dragonite is technically a MixedSweeper, I guess? Draco Meteor pretty much OHKOs anything that can't resist it. Flamethrower is to take care of the steels that can resist Draco Meteor. Superpower has the power to OHKO Blisseys that switch into to try to wall this set believing that it is a Special Sweeper. Thunderbolt is in because of the water users that can Ice Beam that seem to hurt this team pretty bad.
