Research Complete list of Pokemon species and forms that are obtainable in Cherish Ball

Hello there, it's been a hot minute since I last made a thread like this, but today decided to post one I had been working of for a day or two. This is a complete list of all Pokemon that can be obtainable in a Cherish Ball. Introduced in Gen IV, this Pokeball is not obtainable in way legal way in the games, but instead has been used to hold most(but not all) non-Legends Arceus event Pokemon from Diamond and Pearl onwards. Similar to the Master Ball, it cannot be passed on via breeding.

This thread is merely listing the species and forms, rather than specific languages and events. Some of these are pretty obscure(Like the Cherish Ball Pokeball Pattern Vivillon, which was only released in an in-person event in France, while most of the world only got the online download one held within a normal Pokeball), and I additionally list any evolutions the Pokemon can have, including cross-gen or regional form evolutions that were unobtainable in the generation the event(s) were originally released in. I also denote which species/forms can be shiny(*) or can only be shiny(**) when held in a Cherish Ball.

Bulbapedia is good but you'd have to check each species individually; Serebii has a list of Pokemon by ball availability, IIRC. I'm actually working on something vaguely similar myself, funnily enough.

Good research. What sources did you use, out of curiosity? I know Bulbapedia keeps pretty comprehensive lists of event mons but wasn't sure if that was the only source.
A combination of Bulbapedia, Serebii, and an online database where people have dumped event Pokemon files, which includes everything from Gen IV onwards, only Gen I-III are missing some things but Cherish Ball didn't exist in those games.

What are you working on? Wondering about another possible collaboration opportunity (I will get back to you on the other one I swear)

I will like to point out some interesting facts uncovered during the creation of this list

-During Gen VII they released a series of events over the course of the year to obtain legendary Pokemon normally only available in the opposite version. Raikou and Entei were both version exclusive and you needed both to get Suicune, so both of them got non-shiny Cherish ball events while Suicune is the only one that HAS to be shiny to be a Cherish Ball.

-Gen V and VII both had a series of Cherish Ball events that had a chance to be shiny, rather than always or never shiny like most. For Gen V it was a bunch of fully-evolved third stage Gen III Pokemon handed out at various Japanese train stations and a Piplup event that was handed out at a Zoo near a penguin exibit. For Gen VII these Pokemon came in eggs(they still were in Cherish Balls though), so you could make them shiny using the same methods one could use in Gen IV to get a Shiny Manaphy from the Egg obtained in the Ranger games. Most of these Eggs were Gen VII Pokemon, but for whatever reason Goomy was also available via this event.

-Krabby/Kingler, which is always shiny, is the only Cherish Ball compatible species exclusive to Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee. It was handed out in a Japanese newsletter for an online Pokemon club.

-Tropius was the very first Cherish Ball Pokemon ever released, and is directly referenced in Brilliant Diamond Shining Pearl where an Ace Trainer that uses Tropius now has it in a Cherish Ball.

What's the Cherish Ball ? If I understood correctly, the Cherish Ball is the same as the Memory Ball but much rarer ?

The theme of the gen 7's eggs were "rare"
There were 4 Version Exclusive Pokemon (the monkey pair, the dragon pair) and 2 SOS Exclusive Pokemon. Mareanie was the only Gen 7 SOS exclusive (and required Corsola) so that was an easy one even if it wasn't popular (which it was). Goomy was something that could only show up in certain weather conditions as an SOS, so it was rarer than even Mareanie was, and while there were a few others in the same boat (excluding the Poliwhirl line, there's Castform, Gabite and the Vanillite line) let's face it Goomy is cuter, more popular and likely had a lot of other merchandise.

https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Cherish_Ball it's this ball, which glancing at the name in other languages, is the same as "Memory" yes.

Adding onto this, I think I'm correct in saying that all of the following species can currently ONLY be obtained in a Cherish Ball and nothing else:

Volcanion
Diancie
Marshadow
Zeraora
Magearna

Gigantamax Melmetal can only be in a Cherish Ball, but Melmetal itself doesn't have that restriction.

But I already see one time a Fabulous Pokemon without a Cherish Ball ...

I'm sorry, I have no idea what this means
I think Luminarya is french. "Fabulous" pokemon is what the french call "Mythical"

So basically "i saw them without a cherish ball once" IN which case, assuming they were specifically talking about the Pokemon in that list, they either were mistaken or saw a hacked Pokemon. Unless any of them got released in Go and I missed it

Confirming that none of the mythicals on that list are available in GO yet, so any of them not in a cherish ball are hacked. (Maybe from the tons of hacked SwSh raids)

This is real, i'm french !

Congratulations, you had made amazing job,I tried the same in the past and the only pokemon you forget is a shiny larvitar from a pokemon championship distribution, maybe in future we can see a shiny regional variant of pupitar and tyranitar in cherish ball like the hisuian sligoo/goodra
