Due to lack of being able to find anywhere else to really post this, I am requesting computer help; particularly internet speed. I am currently connected to Orange wireless internet, but am currently downloading Counter Strike through Steam at a horrible speed. I'm assuming that it will be difficult to play CS effectively through wireless, does anyone have any suggestions about how to make it faster, or how (and with what) to make a wired connection to the Livebox?
 
What is horrible speed in your standard? What has been done to try to make it faster?

If there's cloud troubles, that will always cause a problem. Live with that. Even if it's partially cloudy. If not, set the router to 1250 and try.
 
Is the problem caused by proximity, or is the signal bad? Most routers come with an ethernet tether, check to see if it did. If not, you should be able to pick one up Best Buy or a similar establishment for less than five dollars.
 
Interestingly I connected via the ethernet, however it still seems to have the same ping as my laptop does (connected via wireless). Is there some way for me to temporarily disable the wireless so that the ethernet connection is the only thing receiving the internet?
 
I have disabled wireless on network connections, however if I was then to turn on my laptop I could still connect wirelessly as disabling it is only disabling it for that computer, which kind of leads me to believe that there is some wastage for the wireless and why my ping is the same with both ethernet and wireless. Does anyone know of any setting that would have to be changed on the actual livebox to prevent this?
