This core has big problems with special walls, the Lati twins, grass types. Suicune can't break through them, and Zapdos just doesn't do enough damage with heat wave to kill them. So, Weavile makes for a great partner. It's a fast and strong grass types killer that also functions as a great physical sweeper that deals with special walls like Tornadus-T with its incredibly powerful STAB attacks. It also threatens the Lati twins out with its powerful STAB attacks and kills them with Pursuit. Weavile is a very potent partner that deals with pokemon that check the main core.

Scarfed Landorus-T makes for a great partner. Not only does it kill special walls that wall the core, it also deals with offensive threats to the core like Mega Charizard Y, Kyurem-Black, and Thundurus. Many offensive checks to the core are destroyed by Landorus-T, and it enables Suicune to sweep. Landorus-T is another effective physical partner for the core

Kind of dependent on the situation, like if it's Crocune Gastro will beat this core by itself while if it's RoarCune it'll come down to winning Last Mon if the core in question is left. The water coverage kind of doesn't matter in this instance. If it's Scald you can fish for burns on Zapdos and then EQ when it attempts to Roost off Damage. Waterfall will win after multiple turns of set up.

Yeah electrics who don't have a hard time switching in vs. zappy give this core a major headache.

Raikou is a threat to this core because it cockblocks Zapdos and uses it for setup fodder. Similarly, if Suicune is CroCune, it sets up alongside it, with Sub acting as a buffer against Scald, and can deal heavy damage with STAB Thunderbolt. It puts pressure on it if it's RoarCune too as it can deal a fucktonne with Thunderbolt regardless.

Dugtrio is a nice 'mon in general for it's ability to trap grounded Electric-types and BandTar. I'd suggest Choice Band but it doesn't trap Mega Manectric, making Custap the better choice. In addition, due to this core generally fitting on more defensivel teams which appreciate the Duggy support in general, it just generally fits onto teams which carry this core nicely.

Top partners for the Suicune + Zapdos core:

Dugtrio by Martin ~ Good partner with Suicune and Zapdos because it's able to trap a large number of threats to them both, examples being Mega Manectric, Tyranitar, Kyurem-B, and many more. It's able to do this with either a Focus Sash or Custap Berry to increase the ability to trap numerous threats. The power to trap a variety of Pokemon for the teams this core is normally on is invaluable overall, and Dugtrio's usage on tele's OLT team seen here (Mega Sableye | Zapdos | Suicune | Dugtrio | Clefable | Skarmory) demonstrates this.

Ferrothorn
by kek123 ~ Ferrothorn helps the core versus threats like Gastrodon, who walls both of Zapdos and Suicune entirely. Aside from this, being able to check other Pokemon like Kyurem-B, Manaphy, and Raikou is another strong contribution Ferrothorn brings to the table.

Latias by Rampecker ~ Like the other two partners above, Latias also helps the core with Electric-types. Aside from this, it's a check to Charizard-Y, which is a very notable issue for teams centered around a Suicune + Zapdos core. Like Rampecker mentioned, Latias' ability to take on threats like Amoonguss and Mega Venusaur is also useful here, as both can be bothersome for the core.

I noticed Alomomola has been gaining some attention around the forums lately in threads like the Viability Rankings (rise nomination and replays here) and Teambuilding Competition (here). It's also a Pokemon which hasn't been featured in either Core Analysis thread thus far, so now is a good time to do so! This is a classic Water + Grass Regenerator core consisting of two very bulky Pokemon in Amoonguss and Alomomola. They both wall a good number of Pokemon in the tier, function as good pivots, and have some basic synergy with one another. For example, Amoonguss helps Alomomola deal with threats like Serperior, Breloom, and Thundurus-I. In return, the fish gives back by checking threats like Charizard-X, Mega Metagross, Weavile, and so on. In addition to this, Alomomola further helps by passing beefy Wishes to Amoonguss, helping its partner stay healthy during the course of a match. Given the defensive and passive nature of the core though, there are many threats to be wary of here. There are several partners to choose from to help with the weaknesses this core has however, and I hope to see many of them mentioned.

AV Tornadus-T makes a great pivot and creates an incredibly potent regenerator core with Amoonguss and Alomomola. Together, the three of them cover each other's weakness, with Tornadus-T acting as the specially bulky pivot that can pressure grass and steel types with its powerful attacks. It's main draw is that its not only bulky, but has decent attack power along with it. The other two pokemon cover it's weaknesses with their nice defensive typings and bulk. Tornadus-T is overall one of the best partners for this core.

Mega Charizard Y is an incredibly powerful sweeper capable of breaking through the bulky attackers and strong offensive pokemon Alomomola and Amoonguss have trouble dealing with. Amoonguss and Alomomola can also help dealing with the Ground Types and Rock Types that Charizard has trouble with by using their STAB attacks. Amoonguss can also deal with the bulky water types that Mega Charizard X has trouble with, such as Rotom-W. Mega Charizard X is a great offensive partner for this core.

Anyway yeah the biggest threats here are electrics which can threaten Amoonguss as well as Flying- or Psychic-types who can threaten Alomomola nicely. I've decided to go down the former route, and also you need to be aware that Alola Raichu is the biggest threat to this core.

Also someone else do Tran as a threat.

Zapdos is a big threat to this duo due to it's access to both Thunderbolt and Heat Wave, and SubToxic is also a big threat while just generally threatening the types of teams that you'd run this core on more than Heat Wave does. That said, Heat Wave is a good move too so yeah down to what you need Zapdos on the team it's being used on. Just stole the analysis spread so yeah. Sub uses Amoonguss as setup bait and eventually beats it with Thunderbolt whereas Heat Wave 3HKOs so that it can't sit in front of subless Zapdos.

In general offensive Rotom-H is kinda underrated as people don't really expect it due to how common fast/bulky is by comparison but in general it only really works on VoltTurn as Zard Y/MMan etc. is better most of the time.

Heatran is the classic partner for a number of reasons. First and foremost it forms an FWG core with the duo, which is good defensively for more reasons than I should need to explain. Secondly it provides nice utility between Taunt, Toxic and Stealth Rock, which frees up teammates for the core (SR) and helps with spreading status and stalling out fatmons in order to stallbreak to an extent (Taunt/Tox). It appreciates the Wish support from Alomomola due to it's lack of reliable recovery meaning that aside from coming in on stuff like opposing Tran, Amoonguss, MVenu etc. it can have a hard time healing back up to a point where it can check other things or take hits from anything else, meaning that having a way to do that quickly is really nice considering that those things don't traditionally switch straight out of Alomomola (not that you'd be using opposing Tran for wish fodder 'cause Taunt/Toxic fucks with you).

Physically Defensive Skarmory is a counter to M-Heracross and M-Pinsir, 2 big threats for the core since they are able to OHKO/2HKO both Alomomola and Amoonguss. It also gives the core a ground immunity which is nice to check Offensive Ground types like Earth Plate Landorus / Life Orb Excadrill since they 2HKO both members after rocks. Decided to go with Brave Bird over Counter to beat M-Heracross and still hit M-Pinsir, Whirlwind for set-up sweepers like Excadrill, Landorus and M-Scizor and the last move can be Defog or Spikes depending on what the team wants.



Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf

Scarf Tyranitar works pretty well here since it's able to check a lot of things for the core. First, it's able to trap Latios, a threat to the core, and Starmie which is nice if you decide to go with Spikes Skarmory that way you don't have to worry about those mons removing your hazards. It's also a check to M-Charizard Y, Thundurus, Kyurem-Black and Zapdos. Scarf gives the core another check to M-Pinsir that way you don't auto lose if it's paired with a Magnezone/Magneton.

Big threat to both (even a lot of the partners above), and with Trace it can steal Regenerator, restoring its health from the relatively weak attacks of the passive core. The nature of a lot of M-Alakazam teams are occupied with bulkier teams with offensive pressure and or Spikes, so eventually something has got to give. Life Orb Alakazam (theoretically just not evolving to) works here to but I think it's overall less viable and I'm not a huge of the philosophy of being able to pick two threats and two partners since it just hogs up noms.

the point is any latios is just going to body this core. choice specs variants just click psychic and this core gets obliterated for example while absorbing spore. life orb + 3 attacks does the exact same thing, but i thought posting this sleep talk set would be cool and it dunks on this core even harder than a normal latios would (not like life orb latios doesn't already destroy this).

Heatran by Martin. - A no-brainer as a partner here, completing a classic FWG core. Provides the core with an SR setter and check to threats like Talon, Latios, and so on. Tran also loves being healed up by Alomomola's Wishes, who attracts Pokemon like Serp, Mega Venu, and more (all of which Tran can switch into easily after the turn Alomomola uses Wish and the aforementioned Pokemon come in).

Tyranitar by Rampecker - With a Choice Scarf, Tar checks a very large number of Pokemon for the core. This includes all of Latios, Gar, Kyu-B, Mega Pinsir, Thund-I, Char-Y, Talon, and more. Being able to kill or trap many of these threats really goes a long way in helping the core avoid being trampled by various offensive threats. Should the core decide to use Spikers like Skarm, Tar's ability to trap and pressure popular hazard removal options like Latios and Starmie also becomes useful.

Tornadus-T by Cenamazing - Another Regenerator 'mon for the core, and definitely a helpful one to have. AV Torn-T gives the core some much needed speed, which is useful when up versus otherwise threatening Pokemon like Mega Hera. Being able to check special attackers like Gengar, Latios, and Mega Alakazam is also really appreciated for the core. Removing items via Knock Off helps the core wear down the opposing team quicker when coupled with status from possible Scald burns and the like.

This is a core I have been seeing on many teams lately (examples here and here under the team discussion). SR Clefable has been increasing in popularity, being able to secure rocks versus the majority of hazard removers in the tier, examples being Latios, Starmie, and the recently rising Zapdos. Clefable's ability to lay down SR versus Mega Sab is especially notable and helps very much when facing stall, which is more easily pressured when rocks are active. It's a really flexible Pokemon overall and can be customized to needs of your team. For example, the nature can be changed to Bold with more EVs pumped into Defense, while the final move can be anything from CM, Thunder Wave, Knock Off, or fire coverage.

Mega Lop is a solid mega option on teams with SR Clefable, bringing some highly valued speed to the table and a good Pokemon to pressure offensive builds with. Clefable's ability to consistently keep SR up is also useful for Mega Lop, who likes having rocks up so switch-ins like Mega Sciz are more easily pressured by HJK. As far as covering threats for one another goes, Clefable helps Mega Lop with several. For example, it's able to easily take advantage of defensive Pokemon like Hippo and Tang, both of which wall Mega Lop. Being able to check threats like Mega Zam is also appreciated. In exchange, Clefable enjoys having the likes of Bisharp and Gengar checked by Mega Lop. Overall, the core is really solid and leaves room for plenty of flexibility when building a team.

Amoonguss can stop cm stealth rock clef from boosting easily with clear smog and easily wall it. Amoonguss can also switch into mega lopunny and fire off a spore to cripple it for a few turns, letting another teammate come in and take advantage of it.

Keldeo is a nice partner for this core for a few reasons. It shares a type with Lopunny, forming a typespam core and helping Lopunny's matchup vs. fatter teams given it's lack of PuP. In addition, it appreciates both Clefable's ability to help vs. LO Latios and Latias and it's Stealth Rock support. Given that this core is generally used on BO where Keldeo fits well, it isn't hard to fit onto teams with it either.

Choice Band Tyrantitar is nice for it's ability to aid with wallbreaking for Lopunny. Pursuit allows it to net crucial damage on things as they switch out, preventing them from being able to consistently check Lopunny anymore, and it has nice natural typing synergy with it too--forming a fighting/dark core with it. It appreciates speed control from Clefable, being much more threatening if things are slowed down from it as well as, like anything else, appreciating the occasional free turn to net an extra hit on something. SR helps any wallbreaker so yeah that's a thing too.

Zone kill of skarmory , M-scizor , ferro , jirachi (if scarf/or variant with out wish) and other magnezones for clefable often leading to being able to sweep since it is often that people only run one clefable check . Zone can also switch into clefable for lopunny and kill M-scizor for it along with deal with talon flame since it it annoying for both clef and M-lop. So ye removes annoying steel and help versus birds and clefable.

Lando-t is generally just a good was partner for clef as they cover each other quite well also checks birds for the core and provides and lando-t switch for lopunny having SD on the set means that it can break bulky steal type for clefable and give the core a way to deal with bulky M-scizor .Also the U-turn momentum for Mega lop is always appreciated lando-t can also switch into a lot of thing the force out lopunny like talon flame and clef which it can break with SD and rachi the list goes on.

Mega Lopunny is a great pokemon, but it has few chances to switch in due to its frailty. Rotom-W is a slow volt switch user, which allows Mega Lopunny to get into the heat of battle without taking damage. It can also take pressure off of Clefable and Mega Lopunny by burning opponents, weakening them and making it easier to sweep. Clefable also appreciates Rotom-W's Ability to deal with fire types that resist it's attacks, while Rotom-W appreciate's Clefable's Ability to deal with Latios & Latias. Rotom-W supports both Mega Lopunny and Clefable, and is a great addition to the team.

Mega Lopunny is an incredibly effective cleaner, but it has trouble breaking through physical walls. Clefable is decent at this, but is walled by steel types, one of the most common defensive types. A stronger special wallbreaker is required, and Gengar is the perfect choice. It supports Mega Lopunny and Clefable by getting rid of steel types with focus Blast and Shadow Ball so Mega Lop doesn't need to risk itself early on. It also quickly deals with physical walls like Hippowdon and Landorus-T. It's a also great at dealing with defensive fairy types like Clefable and Mega Altaria with ease due to sludge wave. It's a strong special wallbreaker that's a great choice to support the core.

Manaphy is a nice partner for this core as it is able to boost faster than opposing Calm Mind users such as Clefable, Slowbro and Reuniclus. Like Keldeo, Manaphy also provides Mega Lopunny with a nice response to bulkier teams. Manaphy also has the luxury of being able to run Energy Ball (for Slowbro, Suicune) or Psychic (for Mega Venusaur) while not stacking a weakness to Talonflame.

Mega Scizor is a huge threat to the core because it can SD all it wants on Clefable, as it lacks Flamethrower while being able to avoid the 2HKO from Lopunny's HJK due to this EV spread, letting it wall the core and boost on it with ease. Obviously, BP OHKOs everything after a couple boosts, but Superpower is great for OHKOing Lop in situations where you don't want to boost first.

While Mega Scizor beats the core with its bulk in combination with its offensive prowess vs the core, Mega Pinsir gets through the core with its extremely potent offensive firepower. Aerialate-boosted Return does 85% max to Clefable, which is absolutely disgusting for an offensive mon. Additionally Priority Quick attack does even more damage to Lopunny, OHKOing after a round of Rocky Helmet damage while Mega Pinsir takes paltry damage from return..

Manaphy by Random Passerby - From experience, Manaphy is a good partner because it's able to help the core break through bulkier builds nicely, all while avoiding an additional weakness to threats like Talonflame. This is super nice alongside Mega Lop's prowess versus offensive builds and gives the core some good tools versus the majority of popular playstyles. Coupled with Clefable's abilities as an SR setter, a team with these three is already provided with many invaluable team components. With Clefable, Manaphy, and Mega Lop providing so much in three slots, a good deal of breathing room is provided for the remaining team.

Rotom-W by Cenamazing - We all know how Rotom-W works. It's a tried and true way to blanket check much of the tier and help the core avoid being ran over by threats like Talon, Exca, Mega Pinsir, etc. Being able to burn Pokemon like Amoonguss and company helps Mega Lop break through them more easily. Providing free switch in opportunities with Volt Switch is also appreciated as always. Overall, Rotom-W fits the flow of teams with this core well and helps cover some notable weaknesses.

Gengar by Cenamazing - Gengar is another nice partner, with an example of its usage alongside this core being seen on teams like the one shown in the OP here. Individually, it's known as a cool Pokemon to use with Mega Lop and Clefable too. For Mega Lop, Gar breaks through defensive threats like Hippo, Slowbro, Clefable, and many more, all while appreciating having Dark-types handled in return. Being able to check Breloom is also useful in this case. For Clefable, Gar can threaten several of its checks and choose to run moves like WoW to cripple Steel type answers like Mega Scizor. Rotom-W is also a common partner for the core and is something Gar works well with for many of the reasons mentioned before.

Thank you bludz for the core idea. Choice Scarf Exca has been trending lately in OLT, being used on teams like the one seen here. It's something I was interested in having in a core analysis, so here we are! Exca has several unique characteristics as a Scarf user, namely Mold Breaker EQ. This allows Exca to threaten teams rather well once immunities like Lando-T have been sufficiently weakened or removed. Other popular Ground "immunities" with Levitate, like Rotom-W and Latios, are otherwise blown to pieces by Exca. Coupled with the ability to check Fairy-types and offer a quick Rapid Spin in some situations, Exca makes for a cool revenge killer. Like every Pokemon though, there are some flaws to consider. Depending on the move you are locked into, some unwanted opportunities can be created for several sweepers to power up and threaten you. Thund-I is here as way to help with this problem, having naturally high speed and priority Thunder Wave to stop many boosters in their tracks. It's also able to threaten a few defensive threats Exca struggles with, examples being Skarm and Slowbro. Aside from this, Thund-I benefits from Exca's ability to spin rocks away and check Pokemon like Clefable. The rock resistance is also useful when up versus things like Choice Scarf Tar, who revenge kills Thund-I otherwise.

You may now begin discussing threats and partners. Make sure to specify whether the Pokemon you mention is a threat or a partner. This will run for 4 or 5 days depending on activity. As discussed HERE, please do not reserve more than two threats or partners when posting. This is to keep things fair and equal for every person looking to contribute.

So DoubleDance Lando uses Scarf Driller as complete setup bait, and if Lando remembered his glasses, before smashing Thundy with an Edge and EQ the remaining team. Thundy cannot paralyze, meaning its forced out. Scarfdrill cannot revenge a +2 Lando. Ergo, the core falls apart. That said, lando cannot setup against thundy, so yah.

Mega Venusaur can shrug off attacks from both members of the core and 2HKO with Giga Drain or Sludge Bomb. It can even heal up with Synthesis to roadblock these Pokemon.

Similar to Mega Venusaur, Celebi can take attacks from these two Pokemon. However, it can only Recover stall the Hidden Power Ice from Thundurus. Psychic and Giga Drain still wears down Thundurus and Excadrill, respectively.

Tornadus-T provides nice support for Thundurus and Excadrill as it can take out Grass-types which they find difficult to break through. In return, Thundurus can weaken Rotom-W and Zapdos for Tornadus-T to clean up late-game. Knock Off allows Torn-T to soften up Chansey and Lati@s. In return, Excadrill provides Rapid Spin support, which increases Torn's longevity.
