[Overview]

With two awesome defensive qualities in Recover and Natural Cure, you'd think that Corsola would be a top-tier defensive threat. Unfortunately, even with these perks, it's still outshone by Relicanth and other defensive Pokemon in the tier. Its stats are just too low across the board, making it easy to take advantage of and hard to properly support without going overboard. For example, whereas Relicanth can tank a hit from Hitmonchan or Dragon Dance Pupitar if needed and possibly KO back, Corsola just gets OHKOed even at maximum Defense investment. Corsola can fit on defensive balance and stall teams as a decent Normal- and Flying-type counter that doesn't need to rely on RestTalk for recovery, just be careful of expecting too much of it.

[SET]
name: Physically Defensive
move 1: Surf
move 2: Toxic
move 3: Recover
move 4: Ice Beam / Explosion
item: Leftovers
ability: Natural Cure
nature: Relaxed
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
- Corsola can wall CB Normal-types for days with its decent defensive stats and Recover
- Surf is STAB and is only marginally weaker than Dewgong's to put it in perspective
- Toxic allows Corsola to cripple things like Sableye and come out on top in the long run thanks to Natural Cure
- Ice Beam hits the Flying-types Corsola can wall super effectively as well as Grass-types
- Explosion probably Corsola's most dangerous attribute, letting it at least take out a wall or dangerous offensive threat

[ADDITIONAL SET COMMENTS]
- Max Defense allow Corsola to best wall Normal- and Flying-types. Specially defensive not recommended as Rock/Water just isn't a good typing as all Fire-types carry HP Grass anyway
- Calm Mind an option in the last slot to make Corsola more of a tank, but it needs a lot of boosts to be dangerous
- Rock Slide gets STAB but still hits Pidgeot and Murkrow marginally weaker than Ice Beam
- Mirror Coat could let Corsola nab a surprise KO against something like Chimecho and Haunter, but most special attacker carry HP Grass
- Reflect and Light Screen can help support the team and help Corsola more carefully pick and choose its Explosion victim
- Needs teammates to eat Grass-type attacks like Roselia, and together they can make a pretty cool defensive core when paired with something like Chimecho. Chimecho also covers Corsola's Ground- and Fighting-type weakness

[Other Options]
- CB Hustle set
- Dedicated Screen support
- Calm Mind + Barrier

[Checks and Counters]
- Anything with a Grass move
- Bellossom, Roselia
- Huntail, Wailord, Dewgong
- Hitmonchan
- Plusle, Whiscash
