move 3: U-turn
move 4: Brave Bird
item: Leftovers
ability: Pressure
nature: Careful

[SET COMMENTS]
Thanks to its great typing and defensive stats with a Special Defense donation, Defog Corviknight is a premier support Pokemon. Its good matchup against common entry hazard setters like Landorus-T, Ferrothorn, and Clefable makes Corviknight efficient at keeping entry hazards off the field. Pressure ensures Corviknight can outlast opposing entry hazard setting moves. When combined with Roost, Pressure also comes in handy to PP stall dangerous attacks Corviknight could not otherwise, such as Volcanion's Fire Blast and Choice Specs Kyurem-W's Fusion Flare. Corviknight can also help pivot in teammates like Kartana, Kyurem-W, and Volcanion, who do not want to switch in directly against foes like Tangrowth and Necrozma-DM. Brave Bird makes Corviknight less passive and lets it pressure prominent defensive Pokemon like Tangrowth, Gastrodon, and Buzzwole. Passive recovery from Leftovers is preferred over Rocky Helmet, as Corviknight doesn't really want to take repeated physical attacks outside of U-turn.

Defog Corviknight is best suited to balance and bulky offense builds. Gods with a high Special Defense stat like Giratina and Ho-Oh make good partners. Thanks to its good all-around stats, however, it can also perform well in a dump slot. Electric-types, in particular Zeraora and Dracozolt, threaten to heavily damage it, which Ground-types like Landorus-T and Hippowdon can take on. Water-type teammates like Rotom-W and Vaporeon can deal with Fire-types such as Heatran and Ho-Oh that Corviknight can't manage while Corviknight covers for their Grass weakness. Strong wallbreakers like Dhelmise appreciate Corviknight's ability to pivot them in safely, especially when they match up well against common Corviknight's switch-ins in Tapu Koko and Slowking.

[SET]
name: Bulk Up (Special Defense)
move 1: Bulk Up
move 2: Roost
move 3: Brave Bird
move 4: Substitute / Taunt
item: Leftovers
ability: Pressure
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Bulk Up Corviknight is a dangerous wincon while still retaining some defensive utility. As Bulk Up raises Corviknight's stats, it can get past sturdy defensive stalwarts such as Magic Guard Clefable and Necrozma-DM, who can't threaten it. Roost keeps Corviknight healthy and can even help Pressure PP stall powerful attacks with low PP that outdamage its recovery such as Volcanion's Fire Blast and Heatran's Magma Storm. Brave Bird has decent power even without any boost and hits foes like Tangrowth and Buzzwole hard. Substitute is the preferred move on the last slot, scouting for Choice attackers and further utilizing Pressure by preventing physically offensive foes like Choice Band Victini and Rayquaza from switching in directly. It also blocks status effects, the most common being a Scald burn from passive Water-type Pokemon like Gastrodon and Vaporeon, and even Dragon Tail from Slowking. Taunt instead shuts down recovery moves and phazers like Giratina, Skarmory, and Hippowdon, but leaves it vulnerable to the aforementioned physical threats before it accumulates enough boosts. Leftovers recovery accrues over the course of the game and lets it set 4 Substitute to PP stall 8 PP moves when needed.

As Bulk Up Corviknight sacrifices most of its utility options and takes up the valuable Special Defense slot, it should only be run on stall teams where its other teammates can make up for it. Giratina and Shuckle are usually paired with Corviknight to bolster its Special Defense; the former can also take on dangerous Fire-types like Victini and Ho-Oh, while the latter gives Corviknight the highest possible bulk. Physical walls, especially Unaware users such as Clefable and Quagsire, deal with dangerous physical threats like Zygarde-10%, Victini, and Zeraora which can overpower Corviknight. Conversely, Corviknight can't break through opposing Unaware without Taunt, which can be dealt with by Toxic from Giratina and Tyranitar. Some special attackers like Reshiram and Tapu Koko can 2HKO Corviknight, so teammates that can take them on like Gastrodon and Galarian Slowking are needed. Cleric support from Clefable is appreciated in case Corviknight runs Taunt or gets a status effect before it can use Substitute. Entry hazard control such as Magic Bounce from Xatu and Defog from Giratina help keep Stealth Rock out of the field for stall teams.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Iron Head can be run to hit Clefable harder, however it doesn't have much use otherwise. Similarly, Body Press nails Heatran and Tyranitar on the switch, but it's relatively weak due to Corviknight's lack of Defense investment. Shed Shell can be run if Magnezone is of particular concern. While Corviknight can run a physically defensive set, it's outclassed by Skarmory most of the time due to Skarmory's better physical bulk with a HP donation and Spikes, Stealth Rock, and Whirlwind.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Electric-type Pokemon and Coverage**: Tapu Koko and Zeraora can break Corviknight easily, and Tapu Koko also resists all of Corviknight's commonly run attacks. Magnezone can trap and eliminate Corviknight, however without Choice Specs, Thunderbolt can be PP stalled by Roost.

**Fire-type Pokemon and Coverage**: Powerful Fire-types such as Victini, Ho-Oh, and Volcanion can pulverize Corviknight as long as it hasn't gotten too many boosts. Fire-type coverage, like V-Create from Rayquaza and Fusion Flare from Kyurem-W, can also outdamage its Roost recovery. However, they all risk getting PP stalled, especially if Corviknight runs Substitute.

**Zygarde-10%**: Thousand Arrows ignores Corviknight's immunity to Ground, allowing Zygarde-10% to easily 2HKO Corviknight.

**Taunt**: Corviknight can't restore HP or setup against Taunt users, significantly limiting its usefulness.

Defog Corviknight is best suited to balance and bulky offense builds. Gods with a high Special Defense stat like Giratina and Ho-Oh make good partners; notably, Kyogre synergizes well with it thanks to its Drizzle removing Corviknight's Fire-type weakness. Thanks to its good all-around stats, however, it can also perform well in a dump slot like Kyogre's Attack. In return, Corviknight can pivot Kyogre in and also clear entry hazards to keep Water Spout at full power.
