Hello - I realize that I have a thread posted about Battle Subway teams already, but I actually changed my team to something a little better than my previous team (at least I think). I was hoping that someone could rate my team and/or offer suggestions for improvement in my strategy. I am new to the forums and not very experienced with competitive battling, so please excuse my lack of knowledge. Anyway, here is my team:
Metagross @Occa Berry
Adamant Nature
Clear Body
252 hp/252 atk/4 spd
Bullet Punch
Zen Headbutt
Earthquake
Explosion
Metagross makes a powerful lead. A lot of opponents in the battle subway lead with either Infernape or Archeops, according to what I've seen, and Metagross can take care of both easilly. Archeops has bad defenses and will fall to a single Bullet Punch if it's not carrying a focus sash, and even then, defeatist kicks in and Archeops can't put a dent in Metagross. As for Infernape, Metagross's occa berry mitigates fiery blows from blaze kick or flamethrower, and lets Metagross retaliate with a powerful earthquake. Once Metagross is done doing his part, he can either switch in to another pokemon, or explode to have a chance at "going out with a bang" and taking down another opposing pokemon.
Salamence @Life Orb
Lonely Nature (so that special attack doesn't get lowered - intimidate softens physical blows anyway)
Intimidate
252 atk/252 spd/4 hp
Outrage
Earthquake
Fire Blast
Dragon Dance
Salamence was in the Uber tier in the fourth generation, and I'm not sure if he's still an uber in the fifth generation. Either way, he is still allowed in the Battle Subway, so I'm going to use him - he's too powerful to pass up. After a couple of dragon dance boosts, Salamence can outspeed and OHKO most opponents, bar ones with sturdy/focus sash. Outrage is a powerful STAB move, earthquake has fantastic type coverage and hits hard, and fire blast is reserved especially for Forretress and Ferrothorn, who would otherwise end up walling my team. In addition to his brute strength, Salamence works well with Metagross because he resists fire and is immune to ground, which are Metagross's only two weaknesses. In turn, Metagross resists ice, dragon, and rock, which are Salamence's only weaknesses. Essentially, Metagross and Salamence go together like bread and butter, which should hopefully give my team great synergy.
Porygon2 @Eviolite
Bold Nature
Trace
252 hp/284 def/72 spD
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Toxic
Recover
Porygon2 has gotten a lot better since the previous generations, thanks to the Eviolite, which boosts its already decent base defenses to impressive levels. Though it doesn't get leftovers recovery, Porygon2 still has access to recover to improve its longevity in battle. Porygon2's offenses are nothing to laugh at, either - the infamous "boltbeam" combination coming from base 105 special attack can take down even the strongest of opponents. Gyarados fears thunderbolt, and all those powerful dragon types fear ice beam. Toxic is reserved for crippling bulky water types like Swampert, Milotic, etc. Though Bulky waters may try to rest-stall, wish-stall, or recover themselves (in the case of Milotic and Jellicent), Toxic, when PPmaxed, can still manage to screw up their plans. Overall, Porygon2 makes a great wall and helps Metagross and Salamence deal with Gyarados, powerful dragons, and bulky waters - all of which give both Metagross and Salamence big problems. Anything that Porygon2 can't hurt, the MetaMence combo should be able to KO.
This is my team - if anyone could give me any advice, tips, or suggestions for improvement, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
