Project Counter that Threat! 21st Week: Snover - Counters Submissions

plenty of nice, durable answers this week. i'm gonna vote Melonz's Staryu since it's a nice offensive check that can force Archen out and provide utility in the form of Rapid Spin or heal up with Recover. special mentions to Shellos since it doesn't give a fuck about Knock Off, and Lileep since it tanks EVERYTHING after rocks (including Stone Edge/itemless acro)

Dhoara's Shellder, it's cool, it works, and I couldn't get it to work but you did ;-;

The winner was The TurtleLord with his nice Shellos set, most of the other sets were solid counters too so don't find that losing the voting means your set wasn't good.

This week's set is:

bunnelby.png
@ Life Orb
Ability: Huge Power
Level: 5
Happiness: 0
EVs: 228 Atk / 52 Def / 220 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 23 HP
- Frustration
- Quick Attack
- Earthquake
- Wild Charge

You're free to submit now, deadline is Friday 12th September morning.

Archen @ Berry Juice
Ability: Defeatist
Level: 5
EVs: 76 HP / 20 Atk / 156 Def / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Acrobatics
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- U-turn / Knock Off / Whatever you want

228 Atk Life Orb Huge Power Bunnelby Frustration vs. 76 HP / 156 Def Archen: 14-17 (60.8 - 73.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

36 Atk Archen Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 52 Def Bunnelby: 19-24 (100 - 126.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Archen switches in on Frustration 100% safely (even with Stealth Rock), then outspeeds and OHKOes Bunnelby next turn with Acrobatics or Stone Edge, even without SR!

Replay of it working: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/lc-161422625

Doing Pumpkaboo Super instead since Wild Charge was added (Yagura said it was okay).

Phantump (M) @ Berry Juice
Ability: Harvest
Level: 5
EVs: 252 HP / 36 Atk / 212 Def
Impish Nature
- Horn Leech
- Will-O-Wisp
- Filler
- Filler
Horn Leech always 2hkos, and the horn leech recovery plus harvest b juice means phantump will come out with a lot of hp left. eq not doing shit to this thing. Although, both phantump and pumkaboo get destroyed by thief, so...
228 Atk Life Orb Huge Power Bunnelby Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 212+ Def Phantump: 8-9 (33.3 - 37.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
228 Atk Life Orb Huge Power Bunnelby Wild Charge vs. 252 HP / 212+ Def Phantump: 6-9 (25 - 37.5%) -- 82.5% chance to 3HKO
36 Atk Phantump Horn Leech vs. 0 HP / 52 Def Bunnelby: 10-13 (50 - 65%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Reserving yamask

Yamask @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mummy
Level: 5
EVs: 212 HP / 236 Def / 36 Spe
Bold Nature
- Psychic
- Dark Pulse
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Alright this is where it gets interesting folks. RIP Golett, theres a new Ghost-type in town. Yamask is cool as shit to beat things that rely on their abilities to be useful, meaning it is great in a 1v1. Holding an Air Balloon allows it to switch into any Ground-type attack with ease, as well as bypassing things like Spikes or Toxic Spikes, meaning things like Snubbull, Bunnelby, Drilbur, Golett cannot touch it easily with one of its attacks. Holding Air Balloon also FORCES Bunnelby to use Wild Charge, dealing 60% MAX (non Eviolite so there is los bulk) thus nullifying Huge Power, essentially neutering Bunnelby as a Pokemon for a little while. As you can see in the replay, this is dependant on Sleep Talk rolls, but 66% of the time you will deal around 50% health, meaning you only need to hit two at most to win. Eviolite set also works, but there's a chance that Earthquake will 2hko, and you cannot Resttalk forever. Air Balloon is also a cool as shit item, and if you think otherwise then you are blinded by the hand of the meta. So yeah go team.

Pumpkaboo-Super @ Berry Juice / Eviolite
Ability: Frisk
Level: 5
EVs: 204 HP / 196 Def / 76 SpD / 28 Spe
Careful Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Leech Seed
- Shadow Sneak
- Seed Bomb

228 Atk Huge Power Bunnelby Earthquake vs. 236 HP / 196 Def Pumpkaboo-Super: 6-7 (24 - 28%) -- 90% chance to 4HKO

Pumpkaboo is immune to Frustration and Quick Attack, while also resisting Earthquake and Wild Charge, making it a reliable counter. Seed Bomb 2HKOes. Replay showing it working: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/lc-161431236

Physical Tank Lileep

345.png

Lileep @ Eviolite
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 228 HP / 220 Def / 32 SAtk / 12 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Rock Polish
- Toxic
- Recover

I used this Lileep version when I needed in LC BW a real physical tank. Despite its strong, Bunnelby is not able to knock out Lileep, even if it's switching in.
Giga Drain turns out a good weapon vs our rabbit and Lileep is healthy after wins 1vs1 too. Some calcs:

228 Atk Life Orb Huge Power Bunnelby Earthquake vs. 228 HP / 220+ Def Eviolite Lileep: 9-12 (34.6 - 46.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
228 Atk Life Orb Huge Power Bunnelby Frustration vs. 228 HP / 220+ Def Eviolite Lileep: 6-8 (23 - 30.7%) -- 99.6% chance to 4HKO
32 SpA Lileep Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Bunnelby: 10-13 (52.6 - 68.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Snubbull @ Berry Juice
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 5
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 116 HP / 196 Atk / 196 Def
Impish Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Play Rough
- Thief
- Earthquake
Snubbull, in my opinion is one of the best counters to bunnelby. With Intimidate, it hinders bunnelby's attack hard and with its good bulk, snubbull can take each hit like a champ compared to other pokes in the meta. Also, with berry juice intact, Bunnelby 3HKOs snubbull with frustration and that will give you time to hinder bunnelby with a thunder wave and hit it with 1-2 powerful play roughs to OHKO it. You could also thief bunnelby's life orb which makes it do less damage. There's really not much life orb bunnelby can do to snubbull.

-1 228 Atk Life Orb Huge Power Bunnelby Frustration vs. 116 HP / 196+ Def Snubbull: 16-19 (66.6 - 79.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
196+ Atk Snubbull Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Bunnelby: 16-21 (80 - 105%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
-1 228 Atk Huge Power Bunnelby Frustration vs. 116 HP / 196+ Def Snubbull: 12-15 (50 - 62.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
196 Atk Snubbull Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Bunnelby: 16-21 (80 - 105%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
196+ Atk Life Orb Snubbull Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Bunnelby: 21-27 (105 - 135%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

This just flat out loses almost 90% of the time. As http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/lc-161541544]this[/url] replay shows, Snubbull loses to a QA+Return, even with Rocks up, unless you happen to get lucky with a high QA roll.

Can lose with two High rolls on Earthquake with SR up, but its a low chance, automatically loses with SR and a layer of Spikes. Very good check but still has the potential to lose.

TCR I appreciate your help but there is no needs to notify people that their sets don't work as they won't be able to change their set. ^_^

If I didn't point those out would they not have gone straight to voting stage without people being aware that they do not work?
