Cradily, 32 Turns of Toxic Stalling

Cradily is one of the few pokemon that can outstall an entire team. It is a really simple concept really, but it is stopped by 2 things..

-Taunt
-Substitute

The pros of cradily are..

-Suction Cups make it stay in without a whirlwind
-Exceptional Special Defence and Defence
-Stockpile

These two thing make cradily fail, but it can come back later to try again. Here is how it works, tell me what you think.

Cradily @ Leftovers
Quiet
Suction Cups
252 Special Defence, 200 HP, 56 Defence

-Toxic
-Stockpile
-Protect
-Recover

Do you want a major staller on your team? Well, toxic it up, and just Stockpile for extra defence, or protect and recover constantly. The real stalling comes in. Give Protect 3 PPUPs, and Recover 3 PPups, you can stall an opponent for 32 Turns. Switching between protect and recover, and unbelievable defences, cradily will be able to take down opponents with ease.

There's still a decent chance either Taunt or Substitute are on the opponents' team.. not to mention steel types completely nullify toxic which again makes it useless.

Grar, Cradily has better options...

This is very similar to the Walrein set, except this gets completely walled by steel types. this is probably best used on Sandstorm teams

Critical Hit hax will really hurt this set... and if you plan on stalling for 32 turns, I can nearly guarantee that a Critical hit will occur. Furthermore, typical anti-Cradily will break this set. For example...

Lucario
-----
Swords Dance
(whatever)

With 5 Toxics (8 max), you easily run the risk of running out of attacks. Toxic Spikes are almost a must when toxic-stalling

Also, standard Ninjask beats this set... surprisingly...

Ninjask
----
Subsitute
Swords Dance
X-Scizzor
Baton Pass

I didn't want to mention it since it isn't part of the set, but Foretress works very well with cradily, producing toxic spikes.

One Word Heracross

Yeah, unlike Walrein who can out-stall Heracross due to sub/protect giving no holes, this one gets a hole every time it recovers.

Uh, not only is this type of battling known as (BAN ME PLEASE)ry, but it was just a rip off copy of the walrein idea. At this rate, any poke that knows sub and protect can stall ffs.

I'd disagree. It has recover instead of subsitute.

Recover is a very useful move, and unlike walrein, Cradily uses sandstorm ontop of toxic. I can agree it is very similar, but they have two completely different roles in a team, special wall annoyer and physical wall annoyer. If there were no sandstorms or hail's in play, they could be extremely deadly forces. I might try using cradily and walrein on the same team, see how it does.

Utter trash, completely loses to any sort of steel type. Gives Skarmory free spikes and Metagross free anything.

Toxicstalling never worked, even in GSC it was sub par to everything else, and now in D/P with everything having exceptional attack stats, a high number of Pokemon immune to Toxic or who otherwise don't care, it takes one CH to really cripple this set. But before that it takes time and is a waste to set up. Sure you get 32 turns, but you're screwed and can't do anything after that. The set needs time, which gives the opponent a chance to do something like set up a Garchomp or Lucario, just give up and quit trying to defend the set, its trash.

My favorite Cradily set is still SwordsDance/Recover/StoneEdge/Earthquake.

But there really isn't a need for another flaw to be found. Steel types are everywhere. Gengar is also immune to this set.

Skarmory, Bronzong, Metagross, Lucario, Gengar, and even Magnezone; they're everywhere.

EDIT: Beaten by two people :S

Hmm, the turn you Recover, it gives opposing Fighting types the opportunity to CC you to death. Anything that can inflict 78.125% on Cradily in one hit can knock this thing out. (EDIT: No, not 78.125... maybe 87.5. And then there's always criticals...)

And, just imagine how much Poison Heal Breloom and Lucario would love to face this set.

At least Walrein has some means of getting its threats off the field...

EDIT: Beaten, as well; shoot.

Okay, would anyone else like to find another flaw then steel types lol? It seems like that is all you guys can say.

You can't do anything to common poison types like Gengar or weezing, you are giving Garchomp/whoever some free Swords Dances / Nasty Plot without any means of removing them (IE: roar) Bellyzard gets a free setup and proceeds to rape your team.

try posting some calculations from the major threats/pogeys who likes switching in on toxic etc. after you have done so, you would probably reconsider this set.

This is worse than the Walrein idea.

It is beaten by:
Steels (skarmory, heatran, magnezone, lucario, metagross, jirachi)
Poisons (weezing, gengar, crobat)
Natural Cure pokemon (blissey, starmie, celebi)
Breloom
Any pokemon with substitute
Any pokemon with rest
Guts pokemon (heracross, ursaring)
Any team with a pokemon that knows heal bell or aromatherapy

It can't do jack to poison types either, is horribly vulnerable to Toxic itself, Taunt destroys it too, its a free switchin for Heracross, its a free switchin for Breloom, its a free switchin for Gengar, Bellyzard sets up on anything other than a switchin to Toxic, it gets owned by Synchronize pokemon, it can't do anything to a pokemon with Substitute.

Other than that the set is perfect.

Add Magic Guard Clefable to the list.

Nothing is sexier than a shiny MG Clefable :naughty:
