OU Crawdaunt

Overview
########

Crawdaunt is a true powerhouse and a terrifying wallbreaker thanks to Adaptability and its sky-high Attack stat. It has very powerful STAB moves in the form of Knock Off and Crabhammer, which are very hard to switch into. Additionally, Swords Dance and Aqua Jet give Crawdaunt a great cleaning tool and can somewhat fix up its poor Speed. Crawdaunt also has an excellent matchup against slower defensive teams, as they struggle to take boosted hits. However, Crawdaunt does have numerous flaws; it has low Speed, which is only slightly remedied by Aqua Jet, and is extremely frail, struggling to take even resisted hits, making it very hard to set up or switch in safely.

Swords Dance
########
name: Swords Dance
move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Crabhammer
move 3: Knock Off
move 4: Aqua Jet
ability: Adaptability
item: Life Orb
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly / Adamant

Moves
========

Swords Dance can boost Crawdaunt's Attack to insane levels, allowing it to severely dent or KO even Pokemon that resist its attacks. Crabhammer is Crawdaunt's most powerful STAB move, being able to 2HKO maximum HP Azumarill, as well as easily KOing many neutrally hit Pokemon. Crawdaunt sets itself apart from other wallbreakers thanks to its immensely powerful STAB Knock Off. Not many Pokemon resist Dark-type attacks, and very few of them appreciate having their item knocked off. Aqua Jet is also a must on Crawdaunt, as it patches up Crawdaunt's low Speed and can often be used to sweep a weakened team. Crunch is another option to do more damage than Knock Off to Mega Venusaur, but the power and utility provided by Knock Off will definitely be missed.

Set Details
========

Adaptability is the reason why Crawdaunt is such a powerful and efficient wallbreaker, and it's what gives Crawdaunt its niche. 252 Speed EVs combined with a Jolly nature allow Crawdaunt to outspeed many common defensive Pokemon such as Rotom-W, defensive variants of Heatran and Landorus-T, and Mega Venusaur. An Adamant nature can also be used to hit harder, but Jolly is definitely preferred. Maximum Attack EVs increase Crawdaunt's damage output, making it harder to wall. A Life Orb is the preferred item, as it increases Crawdaunt's Attack while also allowing it to change moves, making it much harder to wall.

Usage Tips
========

Crawdaunt is extremely frail, so only bring it in on weak resisted moves, after a teammate faints, or with a slow Volt Switch, U-turn, or Baton Pass. Using Crawdaunt is pretty straightforward; simply select the appropriate STAB move and watch the opposing Pokemon lose their item and take heavy damage in the process or simply get KOed. Crawdaunt is a wallbreaker, so use it to punch major holes in the opposing team so that a teammate has an opportunity to sweep. Crawdaunt excels against defensive teams but struggles against more offensively oriented teams; wait until the opposing team is weakened enough and Crawdaunt may be able to get an opportunity to sweep with Aqua Jet. Bring in Crawdaunt against a Pokemon that it forces out, such as Heatran, and either set up a Swords Dance or just directly nuke the Pokemon that switches in. Usually after Crawdaunt has taken out a Pokemon, it is best to let it get KOed, as switching it out loses momentum.

Team Options
========

Talonflame is a great partner, being able to destroy Crawdaunt's main counters, such as Chesnaught and Mega Venusaur. Latios can also defeat Crawdaunt's counters, while also being able to remove entry hazards that may trouble Crawdaunt. Like most wallbreakers and setup sweepers, Crawdaunt appreciates entry hazard support. Chesnaught and Ferrothorn can both set up Spikes, with the latter also being able to set up Stealth Rock. Momentum grabbers such as Rotom-W, Celebi, and Landorus-T are appreciated to help Crawdaunt switch in; for example, Celebi can also pass a Substitute to Crawdaunt via Baton Pass, helping it switch in safely. Dragon Dance Mega Charizard X appreciates the removal of Heatran and Slowbro, while Dragon Dance Mega Altaria appreciates Ferrothorn and Skarmory being weakened. Crawdaunt can also weaken Substitute + Calm Mind Keldeo's main counters, namely Rotom-W, Slowbro, and Azumarill.

Other Options
########

Waterfall can be used over Crabhammer for better accuracy, but the decrease in power is usually not preferred, as Crawdaunt is a wallbreaker. Choice Band can be used over Life Orb to hit harder, but Life Orb is generally preferred, as it gives Crawdaunt the ability to switch moves, allowing it to wallbreak much more efficiently. However, if you do decide to run Choice Band, Superpower should be used over Swords Dance as a reliable way to defeat Ferrothorn. Running a Focus Sash makes Crawdaunt harder to revenge kill and makes setting up with Swords Dance easier. It also allows Crawdaunt to pretty much net a guaranteed KO against offensive teams, provided its Focus Sash is not broken.

Checks & Counters
########

**Chesnaught**: Chesnaught resists both of Crawdaunt's STAB moves and is very physically bulky, so it takes very little damage from Crawdaunt's attacks. It also can recover health with Drain Punch or Leech Seed. Chesnaught can also take the opportunity to set up Spikes.

**Mega Altaria**: Mega Altaria resists both of Crawdaunt's STAB moves while being able to set up on Crawdaunt with Dragon Dance or just KO it with either Return or Hyper Voice.

**Mega Venusaur**: Mega Venusaur resists Water-type moves and doesn't take much damage from Knock Off thanks to the fact that its Mega Stone cannot be removed. Mega Venusaur also has recovery in the form of Synthesis, allowing it to come in multiple times, and can OHKO Crawdaunt back with Giga Drain.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulkier Water-types such as Rotom-W, Azumarill, and Keldeo can switch in on resisted STAB moves and either proceed to KO Crawdaunt with their respective STAB moves or, in Rotom-W's case, cripple it with a burn.

**Revenge Killers**: Faster Pokemon such as Latios, Breloom, and Mega Manectric can come in after Crawdaunt KOes a Pokemon and proceed to force it out. Priority users such as Talonflame can also outprioritize Crawdaunt's Aqua Jet.

mention Chesnaught in C&C IMO
Yes Chesnaught is great with a lot of pokemon.
I would also add some pokemon that can provide hazard removal and can set-up hazards (just like Chesnaught), screen support such as Suicide lead Azelf and Klefki, and some volt switch partners like Rotom-W

C&C stands for checks and counters btw
Pretty much every mon needs hazard removal and tbh crawdaunt is not really a special case; obviously, for mons like talonflame and zard y hazard removal is necessary but I don't think it's needed for crawdaunt to function well. setting up hazards was already mentioned, I'll mention more specific ones like chesnaught and ferro. I also don't think dual screens are needed either tbh, but I'll leave that up to QC.
Will add volt switch partners and rotom-w, thanks!

not much to mention, you got most of the stuff. but: take Aerial Ace out of OO, you only hit two mons and there really isnt enough reason to drop any of its STABs. Also mention Sash as an OO; it's a good set. sash SD helps vs latis, keld, etc.

Some noticeable targets that fall under the general speed range that Jolly would let you hit is Defensive Lando-T and M-Venusaurs so add that as well. You need to emphasize that it outpaces defensive variants of Heatran, not offensive or speedy support ones. Azumarill needs to have a mention under the bulky water category of checks and counters. Waterfall in OO for its improved accuracy but with explanation of decreased power which makes Crabhammer the more viable choice in most cases. Mention Celebi under momentum grabbers and Healing Wish support for Team Options, which helps with handling the bulky waters Crawdaunt has trouble with. Remove the mention of Dragon Dance, it's highly inferior to Swords Dance to the point that it shouldn't warrant a mention even in OO due to its slow speed and less wall-breaking potential.

QC 2/3 once you've implemented this.

firehusky removing the bullet points from your WIP doesn't count as written. You got to provide relevant info that are correlated to the meta-game and not skimp on details. Like..
Crawdaunt has access to Swords Dance which also makes it very hard to counter.
This is unacceptable when there are clearly checks and counters stated in the C&C section, there's a lot of instances where you make sentences such as. Basically beef up the analysis as a whole before you consider a QC check and don't be lazy and state the obvious. The first 2 QC checks were fine for getting the general information necessary but it's expected to be much more thorough and complete by the time you get to 3/3, which as of right now it isn't. Work on this and we'll come back to it later to see the progress.

ok, I beefed it up a bit, do you think it's good now?

Team options should include Pokemon that appreciate Crawdaunt's wallbreaking capabilities. Swords Dance Talonflame (already mentioned) and SubCM Keldeo appreciate the removal of Rotom-W and Slowbro (Keldeo also likes Azumarill weakened as well), Dragon Dance Zard X appreciates the removal of Slowbro and Heatran (+2 Aqua Jet is a clean OHKO with LO), Dragon Dance Mega Altaria appreciates the removal of Ferrothorn, Skarmory (after Stealth Rock), Slowbro, Rotom-W... Crawdaunt is a wallbreaker, so its teammates should include Pokemon that want their defensive checks KO'd.

in the cb set you mentioned you should probably say superpower as an option as a stronger way to beat ferrothorn, after that though it looks solid

The greatest story of them all.

I'd give Crunch a mention somewhere in OO for allowing you to 2HKO Venu after rocks and the slightest amount of prior damage. This is kina nitpicky but I'd rearrange your c&c a bit, and put both Chesnaught and Mega Altaria above bulky Water types as they're both stronger answers with reliable recovery and if for whatever reason, you decide you need a hard counter to this pokemon, this is what you should be using.

crunch is already on option under moves, and yeah I'll fix it up after I have access to a computer.

Firebird03 your grammar and prose changes are really good, just make sure to catch some comma stuff and other minor things :)

I'd just change the second one to Crawdaunt's.) low Speed and can often be used to sweep a weakened team once it is weakened (again, unclear "it"). Crunch is another option to do more damage than Knock Off to Mega Venusaur, but the power and utility provided by Knock Off will definitely be missed.

An Adamant nature can also be used to hit harder, but Jolly is definitely preferred. Maximum Attack EVs (not super necessary but alright. the important thing is that if you do make that change, you have to keep it consistent with the next word. EVs is plural, so it should be followed by "increase" rather than...) increases Crawdaunt's damage output, making it harder to wall. A Life Orb is the preferred item, as it increases Crawdaunt's (add apostrophe) Attack, while also allowing it to change moves, making it much harder to wall.

Usage Tips
========

Crawdaunt is extremely frail, so only bring it in on either (meh, not feeling this) weak and (unnecessary but fine) resisted moves, after a teammate faints, or with a slow Volt Switch, U-turn, or Baton Pass. Using Crawdaunt is pretty straightforward; simply select the appropriate STAB move and watch somethe opposing Pokemon (nice!) lose their item, and (keep the "and" but remove the comma; now it becomes clear that Knock Off but removes the foe's item and does a lot of damage) take heavy damage in the process, or simply get straight up (Gato doen't approve of "straight up" haha) KOed. Crawdaunt is a wallbreaker, so use it to punch major holes in the opposing team so that a teammate has an opportunity to sweep. Crawdaunt excels against defensive teams, (remove comma) but struggles against more offensively oriented teams; wait until the opposing team is weakened enough and Crawdaunt may be able to get an opportunity to sweep with Aqua Jet. ========

Talonflame is a great partner, being able to destroy Crawdaunt's main counters. Latios can also defeat Crawdaunt's counters, while also being able to remove entry hazards that may trouble Crawdaunt. Like most wallbreakers and set up (remove space) (yes, should be "setup") sweepers, Crawdaunt appreciates entry hazard support. Chesnaught and Ferrothorn can both set up Spikes, while Ferrothorn can alsith the latter also being able to set up Stealth Rock. Momentum grabbers such as Rotom-W, Celebi, and Landorus-T are appreciated to gainhelp Crawdaunt switch initiative;; for example, Celebi can also pass a Substitute to Crawdaunt via Baton Pass, helping it switch in safely. Dragon Dance Mega Charizard X appreciates the removal of Heatran and Slowbro, while Dragon Dance Mega Altaria appreciates Ferrothorn and Skarmory being weakened. Crawdaunt can also weaken SubCM Substitute + Calm Mind Keldeo's (apostrophe here if you didn't see it) main counters, namely Rotom-W, Slowbro, and Azumarill.

Other Options
########

Waterfall can be used over Crabhammer for better accuracy, but the decrease in power is usually not preferred, as Crawdaunt is a wallbreaker, which is why Crabhammer is usually the superior choice. A Choice Band can be used over a Life Orb to hit harder, but a Life Orb is generally preferred, (always a comma before "as" if it means "because") as it gives Crawdaunt the ability to switchuse different (I think "switch" is better) moves, allowing it to wallbreak much more efficiently. However, if you do decide to run Choice Band, Superpower should be used over Swords Dance as a reliable way to defeat Ferrothorn. Running a Focus Sash makes Crawdaunt harder to revenge kill, (remove comma) and makes setting up with Swords Dance easier. It also allows Crawdaunt to pretty much net a guaranteed KO against offensive teams, provided its Focus Sash is not broken.

Checks & Counters
########

**Chesnaught**: Chesnaught resists both of Crawdaunt's STAB moves, and is very (keep the "very" here) physically very (not here) bulky, so it takes very little damage from Crawdaunt's attacks, and. It also can recover health with Drain Punch or Leech Seed. Chesnaught can also take the opportunity to set up Spikes.

**Mega Altaria**: Mega Altaria resists both of Crawdaunt's STAB moves while being able to either (not really necessary but not bad. however you do go on to use "either" at the end of this sentence, so I'd pass on this one so there aren't two "either"s in this sentence) set up on Crawdaunt with Dragon Dance, (remove comma) or just proceed to KO it with either Return or Hyper Voice.

**Mega Venusaur**: Mega Venusaur resists Water-type moves, while Knock Off does not do much damage thanks to the fact that a Mega stone can't be knocked off and doesn't take much damage from Knock Off thanks to the fact that its Mega Stone cannot be removed. Mega Venusaur also has recovery in the form of Synthesis, allowing it to come in multiple times, and can OHKO Crawdaunt back with Giga Drain.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulkier Water-types such as Rotom-W, Azumarill, (always use the serial comma) and Keldeo can switch in on resisted STAB moves and either proceed to KO it Crawdaunt with their respective STAB moves, (remove comma) or, (comma) in Rotom-W's case, cripple it with a burn.

**Revenge Killers**: Faster Pokemon such as Latios, Breloom, and Mega Manectric can come in after Crawdaunt KOes a Pokemon, (RC) and proceed to force it out. Priority users such as Talonflame can also outprioritize Crawdaunt's Aqua Jet.
