2021 artwork
It's been a while since I posted
I'd say I improved quite a lot during the past year
I learnt how to use watercolor and absolutely loved it more than digital art nowadays

Hello guys. I posted another art thread somewhat 2 years ago but that thread never got popular.
I'd say I improved after 2 years.

Here's some of my 2018 artwork

Some beta Pokemanz (colored pencils + digital background)

More colored pencils
I'd say colored pencils is currently my favorite medium at the moment.
I use Faber Castell and Prisma color colored pencils.

New hobby for me:
Shadow applique!

Shadow applique is a type of applique, which is a type of patchwork--
you cut and stick pieces on fabric onto another piece of fabric to create a picture.
Then, you put another piece of sheer fabric (semi-transparent fabric such as organza or tulle) on top to sandwich your picture.
Shadow applique is usually used to make mini quits, but not always.

Another new hobby for me:
Pokemon graphghans!! (Which is like pixel art but with crochet)
I bought my Tunisian crochet hooks today and couldn't wait to try them out.
This took slightly less than 2 hours to crochet.

These 2 paintings are painted in Chinese paint (also called Chinese watercolor), which doesn't work exactly like Western watercolor.
The brand I use is called Marie's, and it's crazy cheap-- a fraction of the price of regular watercolor paints.

I noticed that a lot of Westerners have given Marie's Chinese paint a bad rating, because they thought it would work like watercolor, but it didn't.
Chinese watercolor is similar to watercolor, but there are some differences.
Think of Chinese paint as somewhat between watercolor and gouache, but behaves more like watercolor than gouache.

Also, you can use Chinese paint on watercolor paper, comic paper, and manga paper.
A lot of Chinese people thought that Chinese paint could only be used on rice paper.
This is false, as demonstrated here--
The first painting (the Jynx one) in this post was Chinese paint on regular watercolor paper.
The second (the Dragonair one) was Chinese paint on manga paper.

PS: The backgrounds are digitally edited.

Trying out different functions on ArtRage Lite (software)

For the Wooloo, I tried to create the texture of fluffiness.
As for Eldegloss, I tried to create a loose watercolor feel to it.
The Bounsweet was painted with the oil brush. The software creates a nice texture of oil painting.

Pretty nice stuff. I'm not usually into super girly art but I've gotta say that watercolor jynx is stunning.

Also cresselia art when?
