RU Crobat

:bw/crobat:
[OVERVIEW]

Crobat is among RU's elite Pokemon, with the defensive utility to check common Pokemon like Golisopod, Pangoro, Heracross, and Roserade and the Speed to revenge kill weakened setup sweepers like Mimikyu and Lucario. Crobat is the tier's premier entry hazard removal option, as it checks the Spikes users Roserade, Heracross, and Golisopod, and it's highly practical to fit Defog on a Pokemon with already-good role compression. Crobat possesses many other great support moves like U-turn to support wallbreakers, Super Fang to weaken the likes of Registeel and Rhyperior, Toxic for crippling bulky switch-ins, and Taunt to prevent setup and recovery attempts. Crobat also has an excellent Nasty Plot set that threatens to sweep, and it can turn the tables on typical Steel- and Rock-type counters like Steelix, Registeel, and Rhyperior with boosted Heat Wave and Giga Drain. However, as a Defogger, Crobat has poor matchups against most Stealth Rock setters like Registeel, Steelix, and Metagross. Spikes Klefki is also generally good at taking advantage of teams relying on it. Moreover, Crobat's reliance on Heavy-Duty Boots leaves it vulnerable to Knock Off from Pokemon it checks like Heracross and Golisopod. Nasty Plot Crobat's sweeps can often fall short due to its lack of power. The likes of Metagross, Incineroar, and Registeel can take even boosted attacks and leave it damaged enough for revenge killers like opposing Crobat and Choice Scarf Flygon. Furthermore, Raikou, Xurkitree, and Nidoqueen are common offensive checks that can take a boosted attack and OHKO it.

name: Pivot
move 1: Brave Bird
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Roost
move 4: Defog / Toxic / Taunt / Super Fang
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Inner Focus / Infiltrator
nature: Jolly

[SET COMMENTS]

U-turn takes advantage of bulky switch-ins for wallbreaking teammates like Lucario. Crobat is a great Defog user because it checks the Spikes users Roserade, Heracross, and Golisopod. Crobat can afford options over Defog if it's on a highly offensive team or the team is packing hazard removal elsewhere. Toxic cripples bulky switch-ins like Umbreon, Milotic, and Rhyperior. Sets with Toxic prefer Infiltrator to hit Suicune behind its Substitute. Taunt can prevent Stealth Rock from Crobat's switch-ins, setup from Pokemon like Dragon Dance Flygon and Nasty Plot Togekiss, and recovery from walls like Milotic and Jellicent. Super Fang is great for weakening Steel- and Rock-type switch-ins like Registeel, Steelix, and Rhyperior. Taunt can be run over U-turn alongside Super Fang or Toxic; this makes Crobat very effective at beating bulky Pokemon like Registeel, Milotic, and Umbreon. The given EV spread outpaces Noivern and grants bulk for checking Heracross and Golisopod. Maximum Attack investment is also viable to make Crobat a better revenge killer, which can be particularly helpful against Lucario and Mimikyu. Inner Focus prevents Incineroar's Intimidate Attack drops and Choice Scarf Togekiss's Air Slash flinching.

Crobat's ability to reliably lure in Steel-types like Registeel and Steelix makes it pair excellently with wallbreakers such as Pangoro, Lucario, Incineroar, and Nidoqueen. Rapid Spin Starmie and Dhelmise can free Crobat from running Defog. Additionally, Starmie appreciates Crobat checking Grass-types such as Roserade, and Dhelmise checks Electric-types like Raikou and Heliolisk. Super Fang Crobat weakening Steel-types like Registeel and Steelix can assist teammates such as Mimikyu and Sharpedo. Bronzong and bulky Water-types like Milotic and Jellicent check Rock-types like Rhyperior and Aerodactyl. Ground-types like Nidoqueen and Flygon cover Crobat's Electric weakness. Grass-types and specially defensive Pokemon like Celebi, Roserade, and Umbreon also help against Electric-types. Rotom-C, Heliolisk, and Xurkitree create a VoltTurn core with Crobat, giving it Defog opportunities against Grass-types like Roserade, while Crobat pivots them in against Pokemon like Rhyperior. Steel-types like Metagross, Registeel, and Escavalier can keep Psychic-types like Choice Scarf Gardevoir in check. Escavalier and Cosmic Power Metagross are also able to check Calm Mind Reuniclus.

name: Nasty Plot
move 1: Nasty Plot

move 4: Giga Drain / Roost
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Inner Focus
nature: Timid

[SET COMMENTS]

Sludge Bomb is the preferred STAB move, as it is perfectly accurate, can cripple checks with poison, and hits Togekiss super effectively. Alternatively, Hurricane hits Poison-resistant Pokemon, with +2 Crobat OHKOing Chandelure immediately and Flygon and Nidoqueen with minimal prior damage. Heat Wave hits Steel-types like Metagross and Registeel. Boosted Giga Drain OHKOes Seismitoad and Gastrodon, OHKOes Rhyperior with minimal damage, and 2HKOes Jellicent. If the team can cripple Grass-weak Pokemon via Knock Off or Toxic, Crobat can more afford the longevity of Roost, allowing it to accrue multiple boosts in the face of Registeel and Umbreon. Roost is also more justifiable alongside Hurricane, since boosted Hurricane hits Giga Drain targets like Jellicent, Gastrodon, and Seismitoad hard. Inner Focus prevents Choice Scarf Togekiss's Air Slash flinching.

Xurkitree, Rotom-C, and Heliolisk can pivot on Grass-types like Roserade and Dhelmise for Crobat to set up Nasty Plot on. Ground-types like Nidoqueen, Steelix, and Flygon cover Crobat's Electric weakness. Grass-types and specially defensive Pokemon like Celebi, Roserade, and Registeel can also help check Electric-types. Nasty Plot Crobat weakening Steel-types like Registeel helps Pokemon like Mimikyu, Goodra, and Sharpedo, and they can weaken Steel-types themselves for Crobat. Dark- and Steel-types like Incineroar, Cosmic Power Metagross, and Escavalier check Reuniclus and Choice Scarf Gardevoir, though nearly any Steel-type is a good Gardevoir check. Crobat can double up with other Flying-types like Togekiss, Tornadus, and Sigilyph to exploit shared checks like Registeel, Raikou, and Rhyperior. Incineroar and Salazzle can cripple Water- and Rock-types with Knock Off or Toxic for non-Giga Drain Crobat, and Incineroar can outright take advantage of Jellicent. Toxic Rhyperior and Metagross are also good for crippling Water-types.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Crobat can run slower, bulkier EV spreads with Toxic or Haze over U-turn on stall and semi-stall teams, which further helps against physical attackers like Heracross, Lucario, and Acrobatics Tornadus. 252 HP / 152 Def / 104 Spe with Jolly outpaces Tornadus and 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe with Jolly outpaces Celebi. Haze helps against setup sweepers like Lucario, Togekiss, Mimikyu, and Calm Mind Reuniclus that opt for Shadow Ball over Psyshock.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel- and Rock-types**: Registeel, Rhyperior, and Steelix can use Crobat to set Stealth Rock, but Super Fang Crobat wears them down and they lose quickly to Nasty Plot sets. Aerodactyl scares out Crobat and can stay healthy throughout a game with Roost, but it struggles to check Crobat if Stealth Rock is up. Dragon Dance Tyrantrum and Aerodactyl use Crobat for easy setup.

**Electric-types**: Raikou and Xurkitree can switch into pivot Crobat and scare it out, but they get worn quickly by Brave Bird and U-turn. They can also take +2 Sludge Bomb and therefore check Nasty Plot Crobat. Choice Scarf Xurkitree and Rotom-C outspeed and scare out Crobat.

**Psychic-types**: Calm Mind Reuniclus uses Crobat as an easy setup opportunity and can force out boosted Nasty Plot Crobat. Assault Vest Reuniclus doesn't switch into Brave Bird with entry hazards up comfortably, but it can scare out Crobat and is a great check to Nasty Plot sets. Choice Scarf Gardevoir outpaces and threatens to OHKO Crobat.

**Other Poison-resistant Pokemon**: Chandelure, Stone Edge Flygon, and Nidoqueen are good checks to Nasty Plot Crobat, though the former two dislike Sludge Bomb poison, and boosted Hurricane quickly beats them all. Choice Scarf Flygon can also have its Stone Edge PP potentially stalled by Roost Crobat.

make sure you format this correctly. overviews have the good qualities of the pokemon on top and the downsides later in the paragraph. also i would expand a bit more on utility moves part, maybe make it its own paragraph

  • Taunt can be run alongside Super Fang or Toxic replaced by U-turn, this makes Crobat very effective at beating bulky Pokemon like Registeel, Milotic, and Umbreon, though it does mean Crobat is a worse teamplayer with the lack of U-turn. don't mention uturn here, if you're running tauntox its kinda its own thing. also move up to set details.

I wouldn't say Crobat checks Choiced Flygon, as both Scarf and Band 2HKO and it can only KO back if Flygon's below half. Maybe replace it with Pangoro or something. imo Super Fang should be slashed last because it's just seen way less than Toxic and Taunt.

Crobat's ability to reliably lure Steel-types like Registeel and Steelix makes it pair excellently with many wallbreakers such as Pangoro, Lucario, Incineroar, and Nidoqueen. Rapid Spin Starmie and Dhelmise can free Crobat from running Defog. (You could expand this further and mention what else Starmie and Dhelmise bring to the table for Crobat like Dhelmise checks the Electrics.) Super Fang Crobat weakening Steel-types like Registeel and Steelix can assist teammates such as Mimikyu and Sharpedo. Bulky Water-types like Milotic and Jellicent, as well Bronzong check Rock-types like Rhyperior and Aerodactyl. Ground-types like Nidoqueen and Flygon cover Crobat's Electric-type weakness. Grass-types and Specially Defensive Pokemon like Celebi, Roserade, and Umbreon also help against Electric-types. Rotom-C, Heliolisk, and Xurkitree can pivot on Grass-types like Roserade for Crobat. (Why is that good for Crobat? A safe turn to Defog for example. You can also mention how Crobat can safely switch them in with U-turn on mons like Rhyperior, creating a VoltTurn core.) Steel-types like Metagross, Registeel, and Escavalier can keep Psychic-types like Choice Scarf Gardevoir in check. Escavalier and Cosmic Power Metagross are also able to check Calm Mind Reuniclus.

Xurkitree, Rotom-C, and Heliolisk can pivot on Grass-types like Roserade or Dhelmise for Crobat. (So it can set up NP.) Ground-types like Nidoqueen, Steelix, and Flygon cover Crobat's Electric-type weakness. Grass-types and Specially Defensive Pokemon like Celebi, Roserade, and Registeel can also help check Electric-types. Nasty Plot Crobat weakening Steel-types like Registeel helps Pokemon like Mimikyu, Goodra, and Sharpedo, and conversely, they can weaken Steel-types for Crobat. Crobat is among RU's elite Pokemon, with the defensive utility to check common Pokemon like Golisopod, Pangoro, Heracross, and Roserade and the Speed to revenge kill weakened set-up setup sweepers like Mimikyu and Lucario. Crobat is the tier's premier entry hazard removal option, as it checks the Spikes users Roserade, Heracross, and Golisopod, and it's highly practical to fit Defog on a Pokemon with already-good (added hyphen) role compression. Crobat possesses many other great support moves like U-turn to support wallbreakers, Super Fang to weaken the likes of Registeel and Rhyperior, Toxic for crippling bulky switch-ins, and Taunt to prevent setup and recovery attempts. Crobat also has an excellent Nasty Plot set that threatens to sweep and sweep, and it can turn the tables on typical Steel- and Rock-type counterplay counters (or checks) like Steelix, Registeel, and Rhyperior with boosted Heat Wave and Giga Drain. Pivot However, as a Defogger, Crobat has poor matchups against most Stealth Rock setters like Registeel, Steelix, and Metagross.

Infiltrator is preferred on sets with Toxic Sets with Toxic prefer Infiltrator to hit Suicune behind its Substitute. Taunt can be run over U-turn alongside Super Fang or Toxic over U-turn; Toxic; this makes Crobat very effective at beating bulky Pokemon like Registeel, Milotic, and Umbreon.

Ground-types like Nidoqueen and Flygon cover Crobat's Electric-type weakness. Grass-types and specially defensive Pokemon like Celebi, Roserade, and Umbreon also help against Electric-types. Rotom-C, Heliolisk, and Xurkitree create a VoltTurn core, giving Crobat core with Crobat, giving it Defog opportunities against Grass-types like Roserade and pivoting in Roserade, while Crobat pivots them in (as long as this makes sense? if not, pls clarify. maybe like "while Crobat pivots them in as Pokemon like Rhyperior switch in?") against Pokemon like Rhyperior. Steel-types like Metagross, Registeel, and Escavalier can keep Psychic-types like Choice Scarf Gardevoir in check. Escavalier and Cosmic Power Metagross are also able to check Calm Mind Reuniclus.

[SET COMMENTS]

Sludge Bomb is the preferred STAB move, as it is perfectly accurate, can cripple checks with poison, and hits Togekiss super effectively. Alternatively, Hurricane hits Poison-resistant Pokemon, with +2 Crobat OHKOing Chandelure immediately after boosting and Flygon and Nidoqueen with minimal prior damage. Roost is also more justifiable alongside Hurricane, since boosted Hurricane hits Giga Drain targets like (not required but my brain got confused for a sec so i figure this could help flow) Jellicent, Gastrodon, and Seismitoad hard. Inner Focus prevents Choice Scarf Togekiss's Air Slash flinching.

Xurkitree, Rotom-C, and Heliolisk can pivot on Grass-types like Roserade and Dhelmise for Crobat to set up Nasty Plot on. Ground-types like Nidoqueen, Steelix, and Flygon cover Crobat's Electric-type weakness. Incineroar and Salazzle can cripple Water- and Rock-types with Knock Off or Toxic for non-Giga Drain Crobat, and Incineroar is good at taking can outright take (I imagine this makes sense? tinker as desired) advantage of Jellicent. Toxic Rhyperior and Metagross are also good for crippling Water-types. (removed extra linebreak under)

Other Options
=============

Crobat can run slower, bulkier sets EV spreads with Toxic or Haze over U-turn on stall and semi-stall teams to further help teams, which further helps against physical attackers like Heracross, Lucario, and Acrobatics Tornadus. 252 HP / 152 Def / 104 Spe+ Spe with Jolly (I imagine?) outpaces Tornadus and 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe+ Spe with Jolly outpaces Celebi. Haze helps against setup sweepers like Lucario, Togekiss, Mimikyu, and Calm Mind Reuniclus that opt for Shadow Ball over Psyshock.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel- and Rock-types**: Registeel, Rhyperior, and Steelix can use Crobat to set Stealth Rock, but they're worn down by potential Super Fang and Super Fang Crobat wears them down and they lose quickly to Nasty Plot sets. Aerodactyl scares out Crobat and can stay healthy throughout a game with Roost, (AC) but it struggles to check Crobat if Stealth Rock is up.
