Customising a DS - few ideas, looking for help

So, for the next VGC, I want to do up my DS, make it stand out a little. My first idea on this was painting it - enamel paint + gloss varnish combo, but that didn't work out so well - was chipped as hell within a week.

So, was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on how I could go about this? Want to put 6 Pokemon on it [Aerodactyl, Machamp, Jolteon, Weavile, Jirachi and Slowbro, if it matters], as well as some kind of background for them, with a way of making it permenant. Any ideas?
 
Hrmm, I'm sure there are different types of paint you could use that won't chip. And what about the finishing liquid they use on pottery? I forgot what that's called. I would take the easy route and just make my own Pokemon stickers. You can get sticker paper at Walmart or something and stick it in your printer and print out whatever you want and BAM! STICKERS!!! Other than that, I don't know what else you could do besides buying a DS skin.
 
I agree with the suggestion of stickers, as they remove much of the hassle. Also if you don't like it later on you can just pull them off.
