I just called the store, and the manager wasn't aware of any specific Pokémon giveaway but told me that Nintendo itself isn't involved in the organization or administration of events. (This is what I expected, Nintendo doesn't run its own events but rather outsources them to PR companies). Essentially, the store is only playing host to the event. The giveaway would be approved by Pokémon USA (another separate company whose approval is needed for anything using the Pokémon brand for promotional purposes) and administered by the event organizers. He didn't have a phone number for the PR company, unfortunately, just generic information about the Carnival events on Saturday. :(
That's not a public storefront, it's a private officebuilding lol. Do you know the contact info for the PR people setting up the Carnival event? They're probably the ones who'd know about it.
It seems like it's fake... but it'd be nice if it's not.
Hey, does anyone know if PBR allows in Pokemon with moves they shouldn't normally have? (ie, Magikarp with Leech Seed or something). If it doesn't and turns them into bad eggs, someone with an AR/GS and PBR should hack a Cresselia with Wish, Piplup with Baton Pass, Chimchar with Baton Pass, and Turtwig with Baton Pass and see if PBR accepts them or not.

Nope, only something that can't be done via any game mechanic will turn into a bad egg (over 510 EVs is the only one I know of yet). Shedinja with Sheer Cold and No Guard works.
I believe it will work in the 1 player mode, but not over wifi. Wifi has many more restrictions which include hacked moves (thank god).
If this were real, wouldn't it be on the Pokemon website? They put all of their promotional events there.
I live a 45 min busride away. I don't know if I should go because it seems to be fake... Can anyone confirm/deny this event becasue I can't.
wow, that flyer looks so fake. i could photoshop something that looks 10x better. plus, why would it be black and white? it's not a scan, it's a photograph. it's like someone took a photograph, then converted it to b&w. why? probably to hide the awful photoshop job (which it doesn't really).
That was obviously fake. There isn't even a Phone number or Address for NIntendoWorld on that flyer.
