Swampert @ Leftovers
EV : 240 HP / 212 Def / 52 SpAtk
Nature : Relaxed(-Spe, +Def)
-Earthquake
-Ice Beam
-Stealth Rock
-Protect

Why Did You Pick This Pokemon?
Well, i suppose it's partially because Mudkip was my first ever pokemon (my first game was Emerald). Also, he's bulky, which i don't really favour, but it helps with set up, and he's never let me down in over a year. SR up, Roar away, switch out from danger, etc. etc. He even swept a few people with setting up rocks.

Any replacements?
I severely doubt he's moving, as he's the best at what he does. However, if i've missed a pokemon that's suddenly come into it's own in platinum, i'll consider changing him.

infernape.png

Infernape @ Life Orb
EV : 4 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature : Jolly ( - SpA, + Spe)
-Swords Dance
-Close Combat
-Fire Punch
-Stone Edge

Why Did You Pick This Pokemon?
I wanted something that can take out most things that can get rid of Swampert (bulky steels, grass-types mainly), and and he's basically got them all covered with Flare Blitz.
He's a real threat, and while, from my experience at least, he's most commmonly a MixApe, this set can still wreak damage. The moves are all strong in their own rights, but Swords Dance just enhances the effects to a whole other level. I'm not saying this is invincible, by any means, but it isn't half strong.
Any replacements?
I often use a Physical-attacking Heatran, but he keeps lacking power. So, probably not. I always consider Flareon (love him), but he's too slow.

Starmie.png

Starmie
@ Leftovers
EV : 136 Hp / 156 Def / 216 Spe
Nature : Timid ( - Atk, + Spe)
-Rapid Spin
-Surf
-Thunderbolt
-Recover

Why Did You Pick This Pokemon?
As far as i know, it's the fastest Rapid Spinner around. It has recover, to keep it around for longer, T-Bolt gets rid of Gyara, Skarmory, rival Starmie, etc. Surf is powerful as a STAB. This is actually my main Infernape and Heatran counter.

Any replacements?
Tentacruel. Another water-type rapid spinner, cept with more resistances.

MAMOSWINE.png

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
EV : 4 Def / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature : Adamant ( - SpA, + Atk)
-Ice Shard
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Superpower
Why Did You Pick This Pokemon?
Strong as hell, brilliant counter for Dragons and Grass types (i'm lookin at u, Celebi!!). I chose Focus Sash on what is basically the CBset, as i'm not good enough to choicers to their full effect. Also, this gives it a chance to survive a potential OHKO and then Ice Shard back to give some more damage to the opponent.
Any replacements?
Not really, it's the best at what it is, there is not replacement.

post-12455-1233285982.png

Zapdos @ Life Orb
EV :252 Hp / 220 Def / 36 Spe
Nature : Timid ( - Atk, + Spe )
-Thunderbolt
-Heat Wave
-HP Grass
-Roost

Why Did You Pick This Pokemon?
It gives me so much trouble, i thought i'd give it a try, and looking at it, nothing resists except pure Dragons, Giratina and the Lati twins, so, in OU that's, erm.... Latias.
Any replacements?
Gengar??It's always been a reliable special sweeper for me.Jolteon's another option.

metagross.png

Metagross @ Leftovers
EV : 112 Hp / 252 Atk / 12 Def / 132 Spe
Nature : Adamant ( - SpA, + Atk )
-Agility
-Meteor Mash
-Earthquake
-Thunderpunch

Why Did You Pick This Pokemon?
Well, for my last pokemon, i wanted something powerful, but not too weak to easy revenge-kills. I also wanted something that can switch into Zapdos's main revenge killers (Mamoswine’s Ice Shard, Lucario’s ExtremeSpeed and to a lesser extent, Scizor’s Bullet Punch. ) safely, and, with all of these, it can then hit them back hard.
Explosion's for when i'm running low.

Any replacements?
Magnezone, possibly. Bronzong isn't offensively strong enough for my style.

Conclusion

I'm pretty happy with the team but I reckon it still could use some advice so rate away please.

Welcome to Smogon!

Hmm, you are covering Gyarados with Starmie, but I find Starmie to be often trapped and KO'ed due to the abundance of Pursuit Scizor and Tyranitar running around. When this will happen, you will be wide open to a Taunt Gyarados Sweep, as it can easily Taunt and set up on Swampert, and after one DD and SR up, he will OHKO Infernape, Zapdos and Mamoswine with Waterfall and SE. The only Pokemon that is able to take a hit and fight back is Swampert, that can't do much with Ice Beam, and Metagross - and that is by exploding. This is not good at all. That is why I reccomend a secondary check to Gyarados. How about changing Explosion on Metagross to Thunderpunch? Thunderpunch is a great move on Agility Metagross, as it lets him hit bulky water, especially Gyarados. So, as Gyarados uses Waterfall, you can Agility, and then Thunderpunch.
If the Gyarados has EQ instead of Taunt, of course, Swampert would Roar it away.

I advise swapping Focus Sash on Mamoswine for Life Orb, as Mamoswine is likely to break his sash anyways thanks to entry hazards.

Your team doesn't have a Ghost resistance, leaving you slightly open to Gengar. Maybe try considering Scizor instead of Mamoswine?

Scizor @ Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def
~Bullet Punch
~Superpower
~Pursuit
~U-Turn

This is the common CB Scizor, and if you replace it with mamoswine it'll give you a more powerful priority move in the form of Bullet Punch. With Scizor, you can switch-in on Gengar's Shadow Ball and OHKO back with Bullet Punch and Pursuit. U-Turn will also help you in keeping the momentum in your favour, as well as scouting for Metagross' counters. Pursuit will help you get rid of Latias and Starmie - Two counters for Infernape.

Mentioning Infernape, the combination of Flare Blitz + LO damage + residual damage will build up quickly, so it's best to use Fire Punch instead. The loss in power won't matter much, as you'll still get rid of Skarmory with only that. Besides, you have another base 120 STAB move to hit walls with.

Hope this helps!

Good point.I'm defo gonna use that.

Yeah, i understand where you're coming from with Scizor, it's just while i've been battling with it, Mamo's been really useful due to Earthquake and Ice Shard combo.
Does Mamo learn Thunder Fang, and if it does should i swap Ice Fang for Thunder Fang??

That's been proven just tonight, thanks.

My comments in Bold.

Opposing Starmie can be troubling for you, especially if they are Life Orb variants, as you will not be able to set up Metagross and Zapdos is probably KO'd by Ice Beam after Stealth Rock damage.

The remedy is really simple, make Zapdos a bit bulkier. It also lets you take on Scizor and Lucario better, who I forgot to mention would 6-0 you after a Swords Dance. Just run something like 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Speed with the same set you have now. Consider Thunderbolt over Discharge because of the higher based power since you are not foregoing Life Orb for Leftovers.

Minor nitpick, but perhaps Superpower over Ice Shard would be the better option on Mamoswine. For Celebi, you have the combination of Zapdos and Infernape, meaning it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Besides, Celebi has a rather large chance of surviving an Ice Fang after SR damage and KO back with Grass Knot. Not worth the risk IMO, at least Superpower can dent things like Bronzong.

Oh, completely missed this, but I'd much rather you run Protect on lead Swampert over Roar. Since you don't have a ghost, many leads can mess with your core by Exploding on whatever's currently out, be it Swampert or something else. Protect will at least let you scout the Explosion and perhaps save yourself a Pokemon.

Ok...so i'll change roar for protect.

use that Zapdos EV spread

use T-Bolt

Superpower over Ice Fang, seeing as they're both naff on Celebi, might aswell keep the priority move for my 1/2HKO on dragons.

you may want to try an arcanine in place of infernape since arcanine has a higher base attack and intimidate can cause some switches and ruin a sweep for your opponent. he also has access to extremespeed to take out weakened enemies.

Arcanine @ life orb/ choice band
252 atk / 252 spe / 4 hp
intimidate
adamant
flare blitz
extreme speed
thunder fang
iron head

dont listen to gundam. arcanine can be easily swept in OU.
Starmie isnt doing much for you so you may want a bulky water such as suicune, vaporeon or bulkygyara. switch infernape to a choice specs jolteon fo more coverage and switch you metagross to scarftran since agiligross isnt an effective revenge killer and get rid of mamoswine for CB scizor.
fiix your swampert you want
ice beam
earthquake
surf/hydro pump
stealth rock/roar

not roar and stealth rock

thanks guys.reeeaallll helpfull. so, one of you's saying scrap Nape for something less lethal, the other says scrap half your team.

Here's an update:
