Tankability

Hey there, first post, new team. My teams are all based around tanks and RstTlkers seem to do the best as them from previous experience. Ever since I started using RstTlk Tyranitar I have been a fan of bulky RstTlkers and tanks in general. Please rate won't you?

Gliscor
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
Nature: Jolly
Ev's: 180 Hp/ 28 Att/ 84 Def/ 216 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Quick Attack/Toxic
- Earthquake

- U-Turn
I had made a lead Gliscor set awhile ago and decided to use it myself. Ev's are adjusted so that I 2HKO Metagross on average and I have Quick Attack to cover when I don't and it's impossible for 252 Adamant Metagross to 2HKO me with Meteor Mash. It can set SR but if the opposing lead is not going to let me, he switches to attack mode. Quick Attack nabs priority while Earthquake gets STAB and deals with Meta. U-Turn is one of my favorite moves and allows him to switch out on pokes I know he can't beat or on something that one of my other pokes would deal with better. In conjunction with the rest of my team, if I were to switch up Toxic off of Vaporeon, it might be a good move to slap it on him. Toxic+U-Turn has been known to be an annoying combo and works well on bulky/fast leads that I know he can't handle.

Metagross

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
Nature: Impish
Ev's: 204 Hp/ 88 Att/ 204 Def/ 4 Sp.D/ 8 Spe
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch

The machine of machines. This guy can plow right through teams if they aren't ready for it. I need a good RstTlker and Metagross came to mind so I decided to try him out. RstTlking for obvious reasons: asborbs status and heals him up. I decided to forgo Meteor Mash for him since he gets better coverage with Earthquake and Ice Punch. Ice Punch deals with Mence since Metagross is really my main way of dealing with him. Earthquake deals with other Metagross and Magnezones that want to wall/kill him.

Rotom-Heat

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Bold
252 Hp/ 160 Def/ 40 Sp.A/ 56 Spe
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Discharge
- Overheat

A new little twist of mine: no longer will I have to choose between a devistating hit from either Fire or Grass. I can easily 2HKO Swampert with HP-Grass and Overheat, having the better coverage, was chosen as the main form of offense. I love Rotom as much as Metagross and so he definitely deserves a spot on my team. WoW is for status support that is extremely important to every team. Discharge also gives him a chance to paralyze the opponent as they switch in and also takes care of Gyarados. Since this is a physical metagame I always take priority in finding Def bulky tanks first and two is going to help a lot. I invested enough into Discharge to OHKO Bulky Gyarados, just so that people know.

Snorlax

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
Nature: Impish
Ev's: 12 Hp/ 68 Att/ 252 Def/ 176 Sp.D
- Whirlwind/Rest
- Body Slam/Sleep Talk
- Crunch
- Earthquake/Brick Break

I have never used Snorlax before, so I might as well take a stab at him. Kind of an offensive set, but he does everything he needs to with it. I always seem to lack a phazer, so I made sure to give him Whirlwind so I can take care of Sub pokes that want to set up. Earthquake was iffy at first but I decided to use it > Superpower since I don't have to switch out afterwards and such. Crunch makes sure that I can take care of Latias and not be walled by Gengar as well as punches holes in the opponent's defenses. Body Slam gives my team some extra status support as well as a decent STAB. The main reason I decided to use him is because a lot of my teams are Heatran weak since I'm not really concerned with him, so Snorlax solves that problem. I am considering turning him into a RstTlker and adjust the Ev's since he does better with recovery and I am no longer afraid of a rogue Rotom staying in to Burn him before I take it down with Crunch.

Vaporeon

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Bold
Ev's: 252 Hp/ 252 Def/ 4 Spe
- Wish
- Toxic/Roar
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Fire]

The only true standard thing about this team. I am a bigger fan of Toxic/Wish than Wish/Protect since it can Toxic stall for my team. I noticed immediately that MixApe would give me a little bit of trouble, so I needed a quick fix to take care of him. Also provides Wish support for my Rotom and Snorlax. Surf takes care of MixApe with ease. The strange thing about this set is the last move: Hidden Power [Fire]. Now I know most of you think this is silly and he should be running Hidden Power [Electric] for Gyarados or Ice Beam for Mence. However since my other pokes already take care of those guys, I didn't need to take them down. I thought a lot about it and realized how many times bulky Scizors switch into Vaporeon since it usually comes in and Wishes which gives the opponent a free switch. Surf also cannot 2HKO a 252 Hp Scizor, and since my one counter doesn't have a form of healing outside of Vaporeon, I don't want to put him in jeopordy. HP-Fire stops Scizor from being able to set up on him prediction has been on my side. If I switch WW off Snorlax I will be running Roar so I can work with SR a bit and it also prevents Suicune from setting up on Vappy.

Magmortar

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
Nature: Mild
Ev's: 56 Att/ 216 Sp.A/ 236 Spe
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt

A destroyer of unprepared teams and eats everything in its path. I had the idea of using a Sub/Punch Gengar when I realized how much better Magmortar can do it. Though he is SR weak, I don't plan on switching him in and out a lot. Wish also helps with with him and is one of the reasons I chose Vappy: Water moves become taboo when the opponent sees a Vappy and so I gain a little bit of mental protection. Focus Punch is for obvious reasons and the main reason for using a Sub set and not LO. STAB Flamethrower just plain hurts and Thunderbolt wastes a lot. I also ran enough speed to outrun Mamoswine, Dragonite, and most importantly Gyarados. He is slightly iffy at this point as I wanted a Sub mixsweeper that is focused on Sp.A > Att.

I think I can help you out a little here.

Gliscor as a lead doesn't seem like the best idea to me. While it does do well against Metagross and Tyranitar, it can't do much to stop Infernape or Azelf. If a fast Earthquake is what you desire, then a Mamoswine lead could be a fitting replacement, in a similar fashion to this:

Mamoswine @ Focus Sash
Nature: Jolly
Ev's: 4 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Ice Shard
-Endeavor

This works on the same premise as Gliscor, but with Endeavor to get past Pokemon like Metagross (with a good deal of prediction- Bullet Punch will 2HKO but they may decide to go for a OHKO with Meteor Mash. Either way, you are still capable of setting up SR. Jolly is the superior choice of nature due to being able to set up SR on Heatran and OHKO'ing with your Earthquake through Shuca Berry nearly all the time. The lack of Toxic should be a replacable problem. Mamoswine is also capable of using both Screens should you feel that your team is in need of it.

To be honest, Metagross isn't a solid answer to Salamence due to his vulnerability to Ground and Fire, as well as his middling special defense, which makes it open to a dual-STAB Mixmence (Draco Meteor / Outrage / Flamethrower / Earthquake). I'd be tempted to use Bronzong instead. Bronzong isn't a bad user of Resttalk himself, and, more importantly, Gyro Ball gives you a weapon against faster foes like Latias and DDMence, who easily outspeed your team.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Nature: Sassy
Ev's: 252 HP / 180 Atk / 76 Sp. Def
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Gyro Ball
-Earthquake

The excessive attack investment is there to ensure the OHKO on DDMence after a DD, Stealth Rock, and Life Orb recoil. It will also kill a Mixmence after Stealth Rock and two Life Orb recoils, allowing you to Gyro Ball on the first turn and Rest off the damage on the next. This should also be a proper line of defense against Latios, whose Specs Surf cannot 2HKO you, unlike Metagross.

Rotom-H seems to be doing just about the same job as a Zapdos would, except without Roost or the ability to deal with Lucario well. Zapdos is capable of Discharging Gyarados to his death as well, although this would force you to run Hp Electric on Vaporeon, which isn't really a bad choice to begin with. Discharge / Heat Wave / Hp Grass / Roost should suffice. This causes you to lose your status though. It is acceptable to keep Rotom, but Hp Grass is a poor choice in the long run, as it is better to run a Screen, preferrably Reflect. That would deal with Tyranitars that switch in sufficiently enough for the rest of your team to pick it off. Spread should be Timid with 252 Hp / 68 Def / 188 Spe to outrun Adamant Luke. This also deals with Gyarados fine- Bulky Gyarados (with 286 attack) does a paltry 54% max with +1 Waterfall, allowing you to burn him and finish off with Discharge.

I would at least run Hp Electric or Ice Beam over Hp Fire on Vaporeon- it always helps to have a back-up plan for Gyarados or other Dragons (Kingdra), who can be a bitch to deal with at times. Between Snorlax and Bronzong, you shouldn't be given too much trouble.

Snorlax is fine with Whirlwind; it gives him a more reliable way of getting rid of a sweeper than to sit around and wait for Body Slam to paralyze. Otherwise he looks fine, along with Magmortar.

Sorry if i wasn't as thorough as I usually am ;)

I totally forgot you were on here o.O I wish it would let me fix the rogue U-Turn on Gliscor but sadly there is a magical internal error. I totally could have used this insight earlier xp

The actual reason of running Quick Attack at all was to deal with Infernape. A standard leadApe cannot KO my Gliscor if they used Fake Out then Fire Blast (not even close) and I can score an easy KO with EQ to Quick Attack. If you think LeadApe would be a problem, then suggest Quick Attack > Toxic for that reason.

Mamoswine looks okay, and he is admitantly the best Endeavor user in the game being resistant to both Hail and SS, but I have an internal defense to Endeavor+Priority users especially as leads. What does he do against LeadZong? Gengar? I prefer Gliscor a bit over him since his U-Turn lets him run around late game and you know me and my U-Turn fetish. The main reason I wanted to use him is because he can come back in late game and take down SD Luke for my team which is the only reason I am not running your Ev set on Rotom. I am still unsure, but I trust you an incredible amount so I will test it once my Shoddy starts working again.

Basically the same thing is said about Bronzong imo. I prefer Metagross because stats alone make him a better physical wall than both Skarmory and Bronzong but the one thing holding him back is Earthquake and if push comes to shove I have Rotom and Gliscor if I stick with it (another reason for Gliscor). Bronzong has to invest a rediculous amount into Att in order to take down Mence with a move that only works if it has a DD up (some just Outrage right away) while Metagross can invest 100 less and do more. I am not concerned about Latias with my Snorlax. I am also very concerned that my team would become based around defense rather than tanking if I took out my powerhouse RstTlker for a wall :\ and I know that doesn't help in the current metagame. You can probably see that Metagross is the backbone of this team and will be switching in a lot and he checks foes better than Bronzong can really wall them imo. Idk, I'll test him too but I'm probably going to stick with Metagross since I lack a LOT of power after I lose him.

Zapdos is quite a good change and replacement for my Rotom, good catch. I would prefer Rotom since he can indeed status and takes Gyarados down much better since it isn't Stone Edge weak. The main reason I love Rotom is that it counters so very very much. BUT, being Pursuit weak ruins his fun so Zapdos could work instead. The third poke to be tested.

If I go against my Metagross, HP-Ice. If I use Zapdos, HP-Electric. I use both Ice Beam. Otherwise he has been working just fine. I agree that Kingdra would be able to hurt this team if it wasn't for Snorlax being such an effing beast.

Magmortar has suprisingly been the most discussed poke when I posted this elsewhere xp. If you have any ideas for a Sub sweeper that fills the said requirements, than suggest away since he's kind of maleable at this point but sweeps like a mofo. Thanks for the help good buddy.
