Defensive Crobat??

I kid you not I literally made a defensive Crobat. It is not necessary, the easiest way to describe it is like surprise Weezing, but Weezing is not weak to stealth rock (a big flaw to Crobat). Though it may be "neat" to survive " DD dragon claw" many other things can do that and more. Also, if you really need a hera counter use Gliscor or Weezing.
After typing this I realized how embarrassing it sounds that I actually made a "bulky Crobat".

Never forget that Crobat also gets Hypnosis. Hypnosis goes a long way in disabing counters.

Anyway:

I've used Spiritomb as a general RS blocker. It works well because of Pain Split and no weakness. Hypnosis also helps alot because it gives a few more Leftovers turns.

What I would recommend for a defensive Crobat set:

@ Black Sludge
Timid (+Speed, -SA)
252 HP/60 Def/136 Speed/60 SD
~Substitute
~Hypnosis
~Air Slash
~Dark Pulse

Now, the idea here is you get 363 speed (it jumps 362) to outspeed any nuetral natured pokemon (And +Speed 115's). It saves some EVs for defense. Now, I admit Crobat's SA isn't the best, but both of his attack options have Flinch, and one has STAB. This isn't Choicebat so the focus isn't on offense, but you do want enough speed to outrun some of the faster crap. Unless you really feel the need to beat Sceptile and Alakazam, you'll end up forfeiting more defenses to speed.

Crobat can be built defensively and can do it well, only because of its resists. We just really need a new Poison/Flying that is tankish in stats.

Crobat is like a Dugtrio statwise. In today's metagame, Ground type Pokemon make good walls, like Donphan, Hippowdon, Swampert, and Gastrodon for example because they resist Rock. Dugtrio is not recommended to be a wall... just because of Rock resist.

Poison/Flying is a good defensive type, but Crobat isn't suited to be doing such kinds of walling. Besides, Roost makes it 2x weak to Ground, 2x resistant to Fighting and 2x resistant to Grass, and neutral to Rock, killing off its walling after a single Roost, IIRC.

We just need to get better suited Pokemon with better walling stats so they can start walling well. Poison/Flying is a very good defensive type. Being immune and 4x resistant to 2 of the 3 most common mainly Physical type attacks (Fighting, Rock, and Ground are the biggest Physical threats) is something good to have. We just need a defensive Poison/Flying. Crobat just can't handle many Stone Edges. It's just a sitting duck unless it Whirlwinds, but then what would it do to Cradily? (Suction Cups + Stone Edge)

A Poison/Flying with Poison Heal would be an incredibly sexy Breloom counter and wall. 1/8th heal every turn, status resistant (Breloom can't status it to Sleep), and it has 4x Fight and Grass resist.

Besides, Roost makes it 2x weak to Ground, 2x resistant to Fighting and 2x resistant to Grass, and neutral to Rock, killing off its walling after a single Roost, IIRC.

Roost only lasts until the end of the current turn, so the more likely situation would be you roosting and cutting the power of a Stone Edge aimed at you in half.

A Poison/Flying can't be poisoned, thus Poison Heal would be a useless ability.

On the subject of Crobat, I find it amusing that no-speed Crobat comes out at 296 speed, exactly 1 point faster than Jolly Heracross. Realistically you'd want a lot more speed, but otherwise I can see it being used like the semi-defensive Flygon of ADV, the downside being its mediocre STAB moves.

Defensive Crobat interests me, but I wonder, by which pkmn currently used can it switch in and actually do something(not just hypnose the friggin pkmn)? Heracross and Breloom, are already mentioned. maybe Sceptile, Infernape, Tangrowth, Roserade and Machamp can be placed in the list as well. Lucario, Cradily, Medicham, Celebi and Gallade are maybe more troublesome...

apparantly substitute is mostly needed against the Grass-types, if they are atleast used...

I've used Crobat a bit in ADV, and I know that its defenses are not bad. It could survive most unSTABbed supereffective moves and even some STABbed ones, and I didn't even give it any EVs in defenses.
