move 4: Stealth Rock / Zap Cannon / Inferno
item: Focus Sash
ability: No Guard
nature: Timid
evs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
No Guard users, Deoxys-S the fastest one among them, are some of the most centralizing and threatening Pokemon in Pure Hackmons due to their perfectly accurate Sheer Cold. Sing allows Deoxys-S to hinder checks with sleep while ignoring Substitutes and Safety Googles. Gastro Acid removes Wonder Guard and Sturdy from Pokemon like Mega Scizor and Giratina, which makes them susceptible to Sheer Cold. Stealth Rock takes advantage of Deoxys-S's ability to force switches and racks up chip damage on Wonder Guard users, its usual checks. Zap Cannon and Inferno benefit from No Guard and allow Dexoys-S to hit specific Wonder Guard users such as Gyarados and Mega Scizor; if these moves are run, an EV spread of 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe is recommended. However, sets running Zap Cannon or Inferno face stiff competition from No Guard users that can make use of these moves more effectively, in particular Mega Mewtwo Y. Focus Sash alleviates Deoxys-S's bulk issues.

Deoxys-S's main roadblock is a combination of two Wonder Guard users, which can continually swap into its Gastro Acid and waste its PP; therefore, anti-Wonder Guard measures are heavily recommended. Shadow Tag users such as Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Mewtwo Y, Primal Groudon, and Mega Latios can trap and remove Wonder Guard users lacking a Shed Shell, in particular Leftovers Wonder Guard Xerneas and Safety Goggles Arceus; in return, Deoxys-S can pressure Pokemon like Giratina and offensive Mold Breaker users for them. Mold Breaker users with Knock Off like Mega Gyarados can remove Shed Shells from Wonder Guard users, allowing Shadow Tag users to remove them more efficiently; this lets Deoxys-S clean up teams more efficiently. Powerful Mold Breaker users such as Primal Groudon, Mega Rayquaza, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Mega Latios can brute force their way past many a Wonder Guard user. Finally, Huge Power + Pursuit users like Mega Gyarados and Yveltal can fish for matchups against Wonder Guard users weak to Pursuit, such as Cresselia, Meloetta, and Dusclops.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Fissure is an option to hit Wonder Guard users weak to Ground, such as Primal Groudon and Mega Lucario; however, these Wonder Guard users are rare, and the possibility of hitting Flying-types like Mega Rayquaza is often too great to give up. Any other entry hazard over Stealth Rock can similarly take advantage of the switches Deoxys-S forces. Recover can offset the chip damage Deoxys-S often takes throughout a game, reenabling Focus Sash if it is able to heal up to full. Taunt is another option that prevents recovery from Wonder Guard switch-ins, in addition to Baton Pass pivoting and entry hazards. Spider Web Deoxys-S can trap and remove Wonder Guard users that don't have a pivoting move or Shed Shell, but these are extremely rare and often not worth the moveslot. Other coverage options such as Moonblast, Gunk Shot, and Petal Blizzard are available to hit specific Wonder Guard users such as Mega Sableye, Xerneas, and Mega Swampert, respectively. Lum Berry allows Deoxys-S to avoid debilitating status one time and lets it beat Prankster Giratina one-on-one, but the overall utility of Focus Sash leaves it outclassed. Leftovers lets Deoxys-S be worn down less.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Wonder Guard Cores**: While Deoxys-S can handle a single Wonder Guard user due to Gastro Acid, two or more Wonder Guard users often pose a problem, as they can freely switch between each other and stall the PP of Gastro Acid. However, Stealth Rock from Deoxys-S can wear them down over time.

**Opposing No Guard Users**: Deoxys-S will always Speed tie itself, forcing mind games between Sheer Cold, Sing, and Taunt if applicable. No Guard users with a Choice Scarf can also outspeed and revenge kill Deoxys-S if its Focus Sash has been broken.

**Priority Moves**: Deoxys-S is quite frail, so priority moves are a big threat, especially if its Focus Sash has been broken. Huge Power users like Mega Gyarados and Mega Mewtwo X can use Water Shuriken and Extreme Speed, respectively, to pick off Deoxys-S. Pixilate and Refrigerate users like Mega Diance and Kyruem-B can use Fake Out + Extreme Speed to dispose of Deoxys-S before it can move. Gale Wings users like Mega Rayquaza can revenge kill Deoxys-S, but these are rare and only work if its Focus Sash has broken. Shadow Tag Slaking and Regigigas immediately remove Deoxys-S with Extreme Speed if they can get in safely and Deoxys-S has taken any prior damage.

**ResidualDamage**: Without Recover, all residual damage will stack up, and even a tiny bit such as Stealth Rock damage can break Focus Sash, making Deoxys-S much less effective. However, Deoxys-S with Leftovers have an easier time working around this issue.

No Guard users, the fastest one among them Deoxys-S, is one are some of the most centralizing and threatening Pokemon in Pure Hackmons, and every team needs to be adequately prepared for it. This is due to the combination of No Guard and Sheer Cold, which OHKOs every Pokemon that lacks Sturdy or Wonder Guard, as well as being the fastest Pokemon in the entire game. fluff + i feel this is more accurate. no guard is what's really scary and deo-s is just the fastest user Sing and Grass Whistle are interchangable and allows Deoxys-S to cripple checks with Sleep, as well as ignoring Substitutes and Safety Googles. Gastro Acid removes Wonder Guard and Sturdy from Pokemon like Mega Scizor and Giratina, which makes them susceptible to Sheer Cold. Stealth Rock and Spikes abuses the switches Deoxys-S constantly forcinges and lets it rack up chip damage on its switch-ins like Mega Audino in the vast majority of Wonder Guard users. mention how running rocks on deo frees a defensive wg teammate from having to run the move, and mention zap cannon/inferno as options afterwards + that if running zap cannon/inferno a spread of 4 hp/252 spa/252 spe should be used However, sets running Zap Cannon or Inferno face stiff competition from No Guard users that can make use of these moves more effectively, in particular Mega Mewtwo Y. Taunt is another option that stops recovery, pivoting via Baton Pass, and completely shuts down Prankster Giratina. mention ev spread + purpose of sash at the end

The only way that most teams prep for Deoxys-S is by stacking Wonder Guard users. Two or more Wonder Guards can constantly swap into Deoxys-S' Gastro Acid and waste its PP; as such, anti-Wonder Guard measures are heavily recommended when using Deoxys-S. Finally, Huge Power users like Mega Gyarados or Yveltal can run coverage options to hit specific Wonder Guards fish for matchups against Wonder Guard users weak to Pursuit, such as Cresselia, Meloetta, and Dusclops. i feel like more could be written, especially on mons that really want to take advantage of the free turns that deo offers since that's its main draw (choiced mold breakers like band pdon/band + specs mray/specs mmy really like wgs being forced in, also subpass teammates get free turns to double and pass subs, and priority attackers like -ates huge power slaking/regigigas aforementioned pursuit trappers and rare gale wings users form a good revenge-killing core with deo-s)

Fissure is an option to hit Wonder Guards weak to Ground, such as Primal Groudon; however, these Wonder Guards are rare, and the possibility of missing Flying-types like Yveltal is often too great to give up. mention spikes/tspikes/webs here A set utilizing Wonder Guard, Shell Smash, Judgement, Dread Plate, and various coverage moves can work as a surprise factor that can make itself immune to Imposter. offensive wg deo-s is nonexistent and for good reason; subpass wg is a set but we plan to make it reservable eventually so it shouldn't be mentioned here A hyper offense lead with Mold Breaker, various entry hazards, and Explosion looks enticing; however, hyper offense teams are looked down upon due to their struggle to get past the many defensive Pokemon in the metagame. Recover can work in order to remove random chip damage from entry hazards, but Deoxys-S would rather have one of the other moves. Taunt is another option that prevents recovery from opposing Wonder Guard switch-ins, pivoting via Baton Pass, and completely shuts down Prankster Giratina. moved + tweaked. mention other coverage like dynamic punch/gunk shot/seed flare/moonblast/night daze, basically anything that targets opposing wgs, as well as alternative items like lum berry/shed shell/possibly leftovers for status/stag revenge killers/healing that somewhat deals with hazard chip

**Sturdy**: Sturdy ignores OHKO moves, which means they can find their way onto Pokemon weak to Sheer Cold, like Giratina, as an alternative way of dealing with Deoxys-S. sturdy is extremely fringe + only on shedinja and super weird spam teams

No Guard is centralizing, not Deoxys-S. I would reword the following sentence to reflect that. Deoxys-S is one of the most centralizing and threatening Pokemon in Pure Hackmons, and every team needs to be adequately prepared for it. This is due to the combination of No Guard and Sheer Cold, which OHKOs OHKOes every Pokemon that lacks Sturdy or Wonder Guard, as well as being the fastest Pokemon in the entire game. Sing and Grass Whistle are interchangable and allows Deoxys-S to cripple put checks with to Sleep, as well as ignoring and bypasses Substitutes and Safety Goggles Googles. Gastro Acid removes suppresses Wonder Guard and Sturdy from Pokemon like Mega Scizor and Giratina, which makes them susceptible to Sheer Cold. Stealth Rock and Spikes take advantage of abuse the switches Deoxys-S forces constantly forcing and lets it rack up chip damage on its switch-ins like Mega Audino. Taunt is another option that stops recovery, pivoting via Baton Pass, and completely shuts down Prankster Giratina. Don’t you just OHKO Tina? I think this needs reworking.

Fissure is an option to hit Wonder Guards weak to Ground, such as Primal Groudon; however, these Wonder Guards are rare, and the possibility of missing Flying-types like Mega Rayquaza Yveltal is often too great to give up. Kind of subjective, but imo Fissure is a little better than is really stated here. Ground-weak WGs are actually pretty relevant (e.g., Primal Groudon, Lucario, Manectric) and the only major target you miss out on is Mega Rayquaza (Yveltal and Ho-Oh are barely relevant). It’s also worth mentioning that versus teams that make use of a Ground-weak Wonder Guard, Gastro Acid + Fissure nearly always allows you to take a KO every time you come in. Additionally, Fissure + Sheer Cold is pretty bad but potentially worth mentioning as a matchup tool. A set utilizing Wonder Guard, Shell Smash, Judgement, Dread Plate, and various coverage moves can work as a surprise factor that can make itself immune to Imposter. Imo, support Wonder Guard sets (SubPass, Hazards, Defog + Aroma) are arguably Deoxys’s best set and should be mentioned prior to offensive Wonder Guard, which is a bad set on Deoxys imo, as its damage output is quite low (you don’t even come close to OHKOing PDon with Judgment at +2 and you don’t even OHKO with Scald at +0). A hyper offense lead with Mold Breaker, various entry hazards, and Explosion looks enticing; however, hyper offense teams are looked down upon due to their struggle to get past the many defensive tools available Pokemon in the metagame. Recover can be used to offset the chip Deoxys-S often takes throughout a game, though it’s too frail to matter in the majority of games. can work in order to remove random chip damage from entry hazards, but Deoxys-S would rather have one of the other moves.

Surprised there’s no mention of Block/Spider Web as a way to remove Wonder Guard users. It’s a bit inconsistent and prediction reliant if the opponent plays even moderately well, but it’s probably worth mentioning.

I feel as though Choice Scarf is potentially worth mention here. With it, you can outspeed a LOT, including many Mold Breakers like Mega Diancie and Modest Mega Gengar at +2

No Guard users, the fastest one among them Deoxys-S, are some of the most centralizing and threatening Pokemon in Pure Hackmons due to the combination of No Guard and Sheer Cold. Checks and Counters
===================

**Wonder Guard cores**: While Deoxys-S can handle a single Wonder Guard due to Gastro Acid, two or more Wonder Guards often pose a problem, as they can freely switch between each other and stall the PP of Gastro Acid. However, Stealth Rock from Deoxys-S can wear them down over time.

**Opposing No Guard Users**: Deoxys-S will always speed tie itself, forcing mindgames and 50/50s between Sheer Cold, Sing, and Taunt if possible. No Guard users with a Scarf can also outspeed and revenge kill Deoxys-S if its Sash has been broken.

**Priority**: Deoxys-S is quite frail, so priority is a big threat, especially if its Focus Sash has been broken. Huge Power users like Mega Gyarados and Mega Mewtwo-X can use Water Shuriken and Extreme Speed, respectively, to pick off Deoxys-S. Pixilate and Refrigerate users like Mega Diance and Kyruem-B can use the combination of Fake Out and Extreme Speed to dispose of Deoxys-S before it can move. Gale Wing users like Mega Rayquaza can revenge kill Deoxys-S, but these are rare and only work if its Sash has broken. Shadow Tag Slaking and Regigigas deserve a special mention, as they outright remove Deoxys-S with Extreme Speed if they can get in safely and Deoxys-S has taken any prior damage.

**Residual damage**: Without Recover, all residual damage will stack up, and even a tiny bit such as Stealth Rock damage can break its Focus Sash and make Deoxys-S much less effective. However, Deoxys-S with Leftovers have an easier time working around this issue.

Just to clarify, Daylight is an AM QC checker, but if you end up using their check (which it looks like you did), and the QC team agrees it’s a quality check (which Mbouchon did), then they can still get credited in the QC line. Since it still needs two official QC checks, there will just be three QC check credits.

This is currently 1/2 from Mbouchon’s check, and assuming Berry gives approval, then once you implement their stuff this will be 2/2.
